Overview

Autura spans towing dispatch and back-office operations, government dispatch and impound management, and a marketplace for unclaimed vehicles. That breadth is useful when an organization works across several of those areas; it does not mean every feature is bundled into one free plan. Owner-operators can use free dispatch software, while agency tools and the broader towing management system serve different needs.

Key features

Towing operations

The towing management system combines dispatch, billing, lot management, and record-keeping. Listed capabilities also include roadside job management, a driver mobile app, GPS fleet tracking, billing and invoicing, and accounting integrations. Bringing operational and billing tasks together can reduce the need to split work across separate systems, while integrations with QuickBooks, GPS and fleet-tracking providers, motor clubs such as Allstate, GEICO, Tesla, and Agero, and Autura products including BudgetGPS, TowLien, and TowPay give operators several connection points.

Government dispatch and impound

Aries Dispatch routes tow requests according to an agency’s rotation rules and shares live status and estimated arrival times. That makes it a better fit for agencies managing assigned calls than a generic dispatch workflow. Aries Impound manages vehicle records, storage, holds, fees, liens, notifications, and payments, covering administrative work that towing operators and public agencies may otherwise have to handle separately.

Impound Express adds VIN scanning, QR or barcode record lookup, and timestamped condition photos on iOS and Android. These tools support lot-side record retrieval and documentation. Aries runs exclusively on AWS GovCloud (US), and Aries Dispatch and Aries Impound are available through AWS Marketplace. TowPay uses Stripe infrastructure and states that transactions have PCI DSS Level 1 compliance and bank-grade encryption.

Unclaimed-vehicle marketplace

Autura Marketplace connects towing companies, impound lots, and municipal agencies selling unclaimed vehicles with verified buyers nationwide. Listings include condition fields and images, but vehicles are sold as-is and condition varies. Buyers should treat listing details as a starting point for judging a vehicle, not a promise of its condition.

Pricing

Autura’s pricing model is freemium, with several distinct free offers rather than one plan covering the whole portfolio. The Autura Marketplace buyer account is free for registration and browsing; buyers pay platform fees when purchasing. The Autura Marketplace seller account is free with no seller platform or listing fees, but seller verification is required.

TraxeroGO is free for owner-operators seeking dispatch software, with no contracts. It is the clearest no-cost option for a solo operator, but its stated scope is free dispatch software, not the full towing management portfolio. Dispatch Anywhere and TOPS have custom pricing based on fleet size and feature needs, with no long-term contracts required. That quote-based model is a better fit for operators evaluating a broader operation-specific package than for those who need a published price to compare plans upfront.

Platforms

Autura supports Android, iOS, and web. Impound Express is specifically available on iOS and Android, giving lot staff mobile tools for record lookup and condition documentation.

Who it's for

Autura is a strong candidate for public safety agencies that need rotation-based dispatch and impound administration, and for towing and recovery businesses coordinating dispatch, fleet, billing, and records. Owner-operators can start with TraxeroGO at no cost. Marketplace buyers and sellers can use the dedicated accounts, with buyers accounting for purchase fees and variable as-is condition. It is less compelling for someone looking only for a single, fully priced plan spanning every workflow.

Pros and cons

Pros

Dispatch, billing, lot management, and record-keeping are combined for towing operations, with additional roadside, mobile, fleet, and invoicing capabilities.
Aries Dispatch applies agency rotation rules and provides live status and estimated arrival times, while Aries Impound covers records, holds, fees, liens, notices, and payments.
Free accounts support marketplace browsing and selling without seller listing or platform fees; owner-operators also have a no-contract free dispatch option.
Impound Express supports VIN and code-based lookup plus timestamped condition photos on mobile devices.

Cons

Free offers cover distinct uses rather than a single all-in-one package, and buyers pay platform fees when purchasing vehicles.
Marketplace vehicles are sold as-is and condition varies, so buyers must account for uncertainty despite listing images and condition fields.
Dispatch Anywhere and TOPS require a custom quote, making upfront cost comparison harder than with a published monthly price.

Alternatives

Towing Software is a directory of towing software options for readers who want to compare the category more broadly.

Choose Towbook if a published monthly price and a defined call allowance matter more than Autura’s free options: its Basic plan is 109.00 USD per month billed monthly, with up to 250 calls per month and core dispatch, reporting, billing, damage claim, fleet management, and transport capabilities.

VTS Systems is another paid option with a free trial; its CLOUD Bronze plan is 99.95 USD per month for towing only and allows unlimited tows or calls per month.

TowBridge is a paid alternative with a free trial and support for Android, API, iOS, and web.

Dispatch Anywhere is worth comparing if you want a separately listed dispatch product with pricing scaled to fleet size, a custom quote, and no long-term contracts.

Ranger SST is a paid alternative available on Android, iOS, and web.

OnTow may suit smaller teams looking for a defined entry plan: its Professional Plan is 35.00 CAD per month billed monthly, for up to 5 users and 10 vehicles, with basic dispatch, mobile apps, GPS tracking, impound management, and email support.

Apex Networks RMS is a paid alternative with a flexible monthly rolling contract, no minimum term, and modular features priced around the features needed.

GovTow is another paid option for readers comparing government-focused towing software.

Verdict

Autura is a good fit for public safety agencies and towing operators that need dedicated dispatch or impound workflows, and for owner-operators who want to begin with free dispatch software. Its main advantage is the span of operational, agency, and marketplace tools; its main trade-offs are quote-based pricing for Dispatch Anywhere and TOPS and the fees and condition uncertainty buyers face in the marketplace. Choose it when those distinct workflows align with your needs, and look elsewhere if you need a single transparently priced package or a marketplace with assured vehicle condition.
