Overview

BIMcollab combines document management, BIM coordination, and model checking for building and infrastructure projects. It is best suited to multi-discipline teams that need IFC viewing and BCF-based issue coordination alongside their BIM tools. Its broad coordination scope is a strong fit for connected workflows, though storage, guest access, and deployment needs should shape the plan choice.

Key features

Model viewing: The WebViewer handles IFC models in a browser, while BIMcollab Zoom is a downloadable viewer for Windows and Mac OS X. That gives teams both browser and desktop routes to review, but mobile access is viewer-only.
Issue management: BCF-based issue tracking works through plug-ins for BIM tools, and issues can be exported to BCF, PDF, CSV, or XLS. This keeps coordination tied to model workflows and gives teams portable output, rather than limiting issues to one format.
Model checking: Zoom supports Smart Views, clash detection, and IDS checks. Its free mode includes model viewing, annotations, BCF issue management, and visual validation through Smart Views, making it useful for core review before a team commits to a paid tier.
Integrations: BIMcollab says it connects to more than 35 integrations, including Power BI, Solibri, Trimble Connect, AutoCAD, Autodesk Docs, and Revit. That breadth can help teams fit coordination into an existing software mix.
Security and support: BIMcollab states it is ISO 27001 and PCI-DSS certified. Cloud data is stored in the Netherlands unless an on-premise installation is used; SOC 2 audit reports for SSAE 16 are not available. Support is offered by email, video call, and live chat during regular CET business hours, as well as through Help Center articles and tutorials. Organizations requiring those SOC 2 reports should weigh that limitation.

Pricing

BIMcollab uses a freemium model with a free plan and free trial. Paid subscriptions are priced per user per month, with annual commitment or monthly billing:

Plan	Price	Included limits	Best fit
Basic (annual commitment)	12.50 EUR per month (billed Annually; €12,50 per user/month)	10 GB storage per space, 1 guest access, unlimited projects, fair use file conversions	Teams prioritizing the lowest paid rate and able to work within the storage and guest caps.
Advanced (annual commitment)	18.75 EUR per month (billed Annually; €18,75 per user/month)	Unlimited storage, 2 guest accesses, unlimited projects, fair use file conversions	Teams needing more storage and an additional guest access at an annual rate.
Basic (monthly)	19.00 EUR per month (billed Monthly; €19 per user/month)	10 GB storage per space, 1 guest access, unlimited projects, fair use file conversions	Teams that want monthly billing and can accept Basic's caps.
Enterprise (annual commitment)	25.00 EUR per month (billed Annually; €25 per user/month)	Unlimited storage, 2 guest accesses, unlimited projects, fair use file conversions; contact sales	Organizations considering Enterprise, including those with qualifying on-premise needs.
Advanced (monthly)	29.00 EUR per month (billed Monthly; €29 per user/month)	Unlimited storage, 2 guest accesses, unlimited projects, fair use file conversions	Teams needing Advanced allowances without an annual commitment.
Enterprise (monthly)	39.00 EUR per month (billed Monthly; €39 per user/month)	Unlimited storage, 2 guest accesses, unlimited projects, fair use file conversions; contact sales	Organizations choosing monthly Enterprise billing.

Basic is the entry paid tier, but its 10 GB per space and single guest access can constrain projects with heavier file needs or broader outside collaboration. Advanced and Enterprise remove the storage cap and allow two guest accesses; all paid plans list unlimited projects and fair-use file conversions. Enterprise offers on-premise installation on customer servers for plans with 500 or more users. The free mode's core viewing and validation features make it a sensible starting point, but paid plan storage and guest limits are the clearer fit for ongoing team work.

Platforms

BIMcollab lists Android, iOS, macOS, Windows, web, API, and self-hosted platforms. IFC browser viewing and desktop Zoom broaden access, while mobile is limited to viewer use. Self-hosted deployment is available through Enterprise for organizations with 500 or more users, so smaller teams needing customer-server installation will need another approach.

Who it's for

BIMcollab suits design, construction, and project teams coordinating across disciplines who need model viewing, issue management, and validation connected to BIM tools. Its integrations, IFC support, and BCF workflows are most relevant when coordination spans several tools. It is less compelling for organizations that need SOC 2 audit reports or smaller organizations that require on-premise deployment.

Pros and cons

Pros

Connected review workflow: BCF plug-ins and multiple issue export formats link issue work with BIM tools.
Useful free core: Free mode includes viewing, annotations, BCF issue management, and Smart Views validation.
Room to scale storage: Advanced and Enterprise list unlimited storage, with unlimited projects across plans.
Broad tool coverage: More than 35 integrations and support for IFC, clash detection, quantity takeoff, and API access serve multi-discipline coordination.

Cons

Basic has practical caps: 10 GB per space and one guest access may be restrictive for larger files or wider collaboration.
Monthly billing costs more: Each monthly option is priced above its annual-commitment counterpart.
On-premise has a high threshold: Customer-server installation is limited to Enterprise plans with 500 or more users.
SOC 2 reports are unavailable: Organizations that require these audit reports may need to look elsewhere.

Alternatives

Consider Dalux if a free punch-list tool with unlimited tasks and up to three active projects or buildings under its free-use terms better matches field work. ProjectTeam.com is another option when invited-project access to shared forms and files through a free Contributor account is the priority, with access dependent on a Subscriber.

PlanRadar is worth comparing for a paid Basic plan priced at 32.00 USD per month, while Trimble Viewpoint Vista is an option for buyers seeking cloud-hosted or on-premises deployment with pricing by contacting sales. SKYSITE offers paid project plans, including Projects Basic at 19.00 USD per month with unlimited storage and sheets. Newforma Project Center is an alternative with contract management, RFIs, and submittals in its Contract Management Edition. fluxems offers a 14-day free trial with 5 seats and 5 GB, while Asite lists paid common-data-environment and 3D Repo options.

Verdict

BIMcollab is a strong choice for multi-discipline teams that want IFC viewing, BCF issue coordination, and model checking connected to a broad BIM toolset. Its free core is useful for initial review, and paid tiers offer unlimited projects, with Advanced and Enterprise removing storage limits. Look elsewhere if SOC 2 reports are mandatory, or if your organization needs on-premise deployment below 500 users.
