Overview

Customers book through a business page, choosing a service and an available time slot with the price shown upfront. Businesses can manage bookings, customer records, scheduling, quotes and payments in one product, which may suit smaller operators seeking a single booking workflow rather than separate tools.

Bookables supports mobile services, appointments, venues, hire, classes and courses. That range gives it more scope than a conventional appointment calendar. The important exception is security patrol work: it does not provide checkpoint scanning, live tracking or incident reporting, so teams requiring those capabilities should choose another system.

Key features

Scheduling for mobile work

Calendar and map views show route stops and drive times, giving teams that travel between jobs useful context when planning a day. Pro can offer customers the slot that adds the least driving, a practical advantage for businesses where travel time affects the schedule. Operators who only need straightforward appointment booking may not benefit as much from this routing focus.

Quotes and payment options

Unlimited estimates and quotes are included on every plan, so businesses can prepare proposals without paying to unlock that part of the workflow. Pro adds good, better and best estimate options for businesses that want to present customers with tiered choices.

Pro also supports card payments at booking, on site or by payment link, with payouts to the business’s bank. Card payments incur a 3% transaction fee, so businesses should weigh the convenience against that per-transaction cost. Bookables lists accounting sync with Xero, QuickBooks and MYOB, connections to Claude and ChatGPT, and links to hundreds of other apps as part of the Pro add-on.

Privacy and security

Bookables says it uses encryption in transit, access controls, database row-level security and hashed password storage. Its privacy policy says it handles personal information under Australia’s Privacy Act 1988 and Australian Privacy Principles. Payment card details are stored by its payment processor rather than on Bookables’ servers.

Pricing

The Free plan is free every month. It allows 200 bookings/month, requires no credit card, and includes unlimited staff, estimates, services and territories. That is a useful way to start or serve a low-volume operation, but the monthly booking cap may rule it out as demand grows.

For paid use, Pro costs 1.00 USD per once, billed Pay as you go, with no monthly fee and unlimited bookings at $1 per confirmed booking. It suits businesses whose booking volume varies and that prefer costs to follow confirmed bookings. The trade-off is a recurring per-booking charge, plus the separate 3% fee for card payments.

Prepaid Pro packs let businesses buy credits in advance: the 1,000 booking pack costs 0.50 USD per once and the 500 booking pack costs 0.75 USD per once. Both packs’ credits never expire. The larger pack offers the lower stated per-booking price, while the smaller pack requires less upfront commitment. Compared with Free, these paid options remove the 200-booking monthly limit; the pay-as-you-go option avoids buying a fixed pack in advance.

Platforms

Bookables is available on the web. That covers browser-based use, but businesses looking specifically for a listed Android, iOS or desktop app should consider alternatives.

Who it's for

Bookables is best suited to service businesses that want to combine online booking, scheduling and estimates, particularly mobile operators who can use route stops, drive times and Pro’s least-driving slot selection. Its free plan can serve businesses with up to 200 bookings a month, while its pay-as-you-go and prepaid options provide paths beyond that cap.

It is a poor fit for patrol teams needing checkpoint scanning, live tracking or incident reports. Businesses requiring a dedicated mobile app rather than web access may also prefer a platform that supports their target devices.

Pros and cons

Unlimited estimates on every plan: businesses can quote customers without a plan-based estimate cap.
Route-aware scheduling: map views, stops and drive times help mobile teams plan work, while Pro can steer customers to less travel-intensive slots.
Flexible payment choices: Pro accepts cards at booking, on site or by link, though card payments carry a 3% transaction fee.
Clear entry point, with a firm ceiling: Free is free and needs no card, but stops at 200 bookings/month.
No monthly Pro fee, but usage still costs: the $1 charge per confirmed booking can suit variable volumes, while frequent bookings make the per-booking cost consequential.
Not equipped for patrol monitoring: missing checkpoint scanning, live tracking and incident reporting excludes security teams that rely on those functions.

Alternatives

For salon scheduling, Salonist offers Android, iOS and web access, a free plan with 50 appointments/month, online booking, calendar and scheduling, and staff shift management. Its Essential plan is 59.00 USD per mo; choose it when salon-specific appointment and shift tools or mobile apps are a higher priority than Bookables’ broader service-business focus.

Orbis Salon is a paid option with a free trial and Android, iOS, macOS, web and Windows support. Its Lite plan is 4.99 GBP per month, billed £4.99/month, for one staff member, one location, 30 bookings/month and five services, with a 50p booking service fee per booking. Consider it when salon software across more device types is the priority and its low-volume Lite limits fit.

For property rental management, RentMerchant has a free plan for up to three properties and a Pro plan at 15.00 USD per month, billed annually, with unlimited properties and units, no per-door fees and priority support. It is the more relevant choice when managing rental properties and units matters more than booking a range of service work.

BOOTH is another booth-rental option. Foohat offers appointment scheduling, and Tilavon is another option for businesses comparing appointment platforms. NXRENT and Rosy are additional alternatives to consider.

See also Salon Booth Rental Software for a broader look at that category.

Verdict

Bookables is a sound choice for service businesses that want booking, quotes and scheduling together, especially mobile teams that can use its route-aware calendar. The free plan lowers the barrier to starting, and Pro avoids a fixed monthly fee, but the 200-booking free cap and $1 charge per confirmed Pro booking deserve close attention. Choose another platform if patrol monitoring is essential or your work depends on a native mobile app.
