Overview

The online tuner listens through a device microphone and displays the note being played. In a browser, it covers guitar, acoustic guitar and ukulele, and suggests E-A-D-G-B-E as standard guitar tuning. The app’s free Chromatic mode broadens that use to any string instrument, making it useful for players who can tune by reading pitch feedback rather than following prompts.

Microphone placement matters: Cifra Club advises positioning the device close to the instrument for a more precise reading. That is a sensible setup for a phone beside a guitar, but less convenient when ambient sound competes with the instrument.

Key features

Browser tuner: After granting microphone access, players can tune in a desktop or mobile browser. The online tool includes standard, Eb, Drop C, Drop D and Open G tunings for guitar, acoustic guitar or ukulele.
Chromatic mode: Free in the app, this mode can tune any string instrument. It is the strongest no-cost option for players comfortable interpreting a tuner display without guided steps.
Pitch feedback: The app shows played frequency and an approximate note, while a colored needle indicates whether the pitch is in tune. That gives players a direct visual reference, though it is less instructive than a guided sequence for someone learning to tune.
String-by-String mode: The app guides tuning of a selected string step by step. It is more approachable for beginners, but full access requires a Cifra Club subscription.
Train mode: Interactive games help users distinguish notes, identify intervals and exercise their ear. This adds practice beyond tuning, but it is also part of the app experience rather than the browser tuner.

Pricing

Cifra Club Tuner is freemium. The Afinador Cifra Club — modo Cromático plan is free and tunes any string instrument in Chromatic mode. It is the clear fit for players who only need basic pitch feedback.

A Cifra Club subscription is required for full String-by-String mode, other tuning types and extra features. That makes the free plan a meaningful tuner rather than a full version of the guided app: beginners who want step-by-step help, or players who need the app’s other tuning types, should account for the subscription.

Platforms

The online tuner works in desktop and mobile browsers after microphone permission is granted. The app is available for Android and iOS. Browser use is convenient when a phone or computer is already nearby; app users get the Chromatic mode and the additional practice and guided-tuning features.

Who it's for

This suits guitar, acoustic-guitar and ukulele players who want a browser tuner, as well as string players who want free app-based chromatic tuning. Beginners may value the guided mode and ear-training games, but those benefits come with the subscription requirement. Players seeking a free, guided app experience should look elsewhere.

Pros and cons

Pros:
- Free Chromatic mode tunes any string instrument, not only the instruments covered by the online tool.
- Browser access avoids installing an app for guitar, acoustic guitar or ukulele tuning.
- Frequency, approximate note and a colored needle give useful visual feedback, while Train mode offers ear practice.
- Five listed guitar tuning choices include Eb, Drop C, Drop D and Open G alongside standard tuning.
Cons:
- Full String-by-String mode, other app tuning types and extra features require a subscription.
- The browser tuner depends on microphone access and close placement for precise readings.
- The browser tool is limited to guitar, acoustic guitar and ukulele; broader string-instrument coverage is in the app’s Chromatic mode.

Verdict

Cifra Club Tuner is a good choice for players who want quick browser tuning or free chromatic pitch feedback across string instruments. Its visual feedback, multiple browser guitar tunings and ear-training mode give it range, but the subscription gate on full guidance and other app tuning types is the main reason to choose another option if those are central to your routine.
