Overview

Breakdance combines page design with theme building, responsive controls and site-wide styling. Global Styles can coordinate typography, colors, buttons, gradients, forms and WooCommerce, helping keep a site consistent as it grows. It is a better fit for people building out a full WordPress site than for someone who only needs a few basic pages.

It remains tied to self-hosted WordPress: installation is through a plugin downloaded from the customer portal, not a standalone hosted site builder. Breakdance also connects to Claude, Codex, OpenCode and other AI agents through MCP. Its AI content writer is a separate purchase, not part of Pro.

Key features

The Free plan has 80 elements, while Pro has 145 and a full design library. The larger selection is more useful for complex layouts; the free tier can serve as a starting point, but its limited library and basic WooCommerce, form, popup and dynamic-data features narrow its usefulness for a growing site. Breakdance offers 1,000 templates.

WooCommerce tools cover product, cart, checkout and shop features, with defaults, global styles and 24 dedicated elements. That gives store owners a way to design core shop pages within the same system as the rest of their site. The form builder supports contact, registration, login, email-subscribe and custom forms, with 16 field types and connections to email, CRMs, webhooks, Slack and MailChimp.

Dynamic data integrates with Advanced Custom Fields and Toolset, with developer APIs for dynamic data, form actions, conditions and custom elements. These options are valuable for more tailored sites, but less relevant to a basic brochure site. Breakdance describes its pages as fast-loading and bloat-free; it caches static CSS on save and outputs responsive images with srcset. These are useful design priorities, not a substitute for assessing a site's actual performance and SEO needs.

For client work, a Pro license can cover client projects without requiring clients to buy their own. Client Mode offers controlled editing access, but Breakdance warns against giving Edit Content access to untrusted users: a skilled user could escalate privileges to site administrator. Version 1.7.2 patched CVE-2024-4605, a privilege-escalation vulnerability affecting sites that granted access to untrusted users with Contributor-or-higher roles, so access permissions deserve particular care.

Pricing

Free is free and can be used on unlimited websites. It includes 80 elements, a limited design library and basic WooCommerce, form, popup and dynamic-data features. That makes it a low-risk way to start, but not an equivalent to Pro for fuller store or form work.

Pro 1 Website costs 99.99 USD per year for one site with every Pro feature. It is the more economical paid fit for a single-site owner who needs the full feature set. Pro Unlimited Websites is shown at 199.99 USD per year as a limited-time price, with the price soon to be 399.99 USD per year; it includes unlimited sites and Pro features. The stated Unlimited License price is also $199.99 per year for unlimited sites, so buyers should note the stated move to $399.99 rather than assume today's amount will continue.

Agency Unlimited Websites costs 799.99 USD per year and is aimed at teams and resellers; it includes support for 5 team members. The Pro – 1 Website and Pro – Unlimited Websites entries give the site counts and 145 elements but no price, so those are custom pricing. Paid plans include premium support, with paid users prioritized.

Purchases have a 60-day money-back guarantee with full refunds for any reason. If a subscription is not renewed, the plugin and existing sites retain Pro functionality, but support, updates and the design library require an active subscription. Local, staging and development sites do not count toward license limits.

Platforms

Breakdance is for self-hosted WordPress. It is not presented as a general web-hosting platform, so it is unsuitable for buyers who want a builder independent of WordPress.

Who it's for

Choose Breakdance if you manage a WordPress site that needs more than page layouts—especially a WooCommerce store, custom forms or dynamic content—or if you build client sites and want one license to cover them. A single-site owner can get the full Pro feature set for 99.99 USD per year. Look elsewhere if you do not want to manage WordPress, need only simple pages, or cannot accept the renewal-dependent loss of updates and support.

Pros and cons

Pro covers substantial site work: 145 elements, full design library, WooCommerce, forms, popups and dynamic data make it more than a page-layout tool.
Client licensing is practical: clients do not need their own license, and staging, local and development sites do not count toward the limit.
Free has real constraints: its 80 elements and basic integrations may be insufficient for complex stores or custom sites.
Unlimited pricing is in transition: the limited-time 199.99 USD per year price is stated to rise to 399.99 USD per year.
Access control needs attention: Edit Content access should not go to untrusted users because of the privilege-escalation risk.

Alternatives

Browse WordPress page builders if you want to compare the wider category. Zion Builder is another freemium option, with a free plan offering 50+ core elements, 50+ free blocks and 10+ library templates. Brizy AI is worth considering if you want an AI builder and premium AWS hosting; its Personal plan is 19.00 USD per month for one website.

Visual Composer offers a free plan with 50+ elements and templates, and a 49.00 USD per year Single plan for one site. Elementor is another freemium WordPress builder to compare. Pagelayer is another freemium option; its Personal plan costs 39.00 USD per month for one site, with lifetime plugin access and one year of service, updates and support.

Divi is a paid alternative with unlimited website use and 24/7 support in its 89.00 USD per year plan. Themify Builder offers a free standalone WordPress plugin that works with third-party themes. Bricks is a paid alternative, starting with a 79.00 USD per year Starter plan for one website.

Verdict

Breakdance is a strong choice for WordPress owners and client teams who need integrated design, WooCommerce, forms and dynamic content rather than a basic page builder. Its client licensing and one-site Pro tier are clear advantages. Choose another route if WordPress is not your platform, or if the rising unlimited price and careful access-control requirements outweigh the value of its broader toolkit.
