Overview

Buildxact is construction software for residential builders who need to carry estimates into active jobs. Its combination of digital takeoffs, dealer pricing and project coordination is useful for teams managing the full job cycle, though mobile job syncing requires Pro or Teams.

Foundation is the entry point for paid use, but its annual term is a substantial commitment. Go offers a small number of complimentary credits, while the fuller job-management tools sit in more expensive plans.

Key features

Estimating and dealer pricing

Builders can upload PDF plans, create digital takeoffs and prepare estimates. Dealer connections add real-time material pricing and quote requests, helping bring purchasing costs into the estimating process. Go includes five complimentary credits, so it is better treated as a limited starting point than a continuing free plan for regular estimating.

Project coordination

Scheduling, cost tracking, site management, invoicing and customer communication extend Buildxact beyond estimating. Bid management, field reporting and project financials are also covered. This breadth makes sense for builders who want estimates and job coordination in one system; firms seeking only takeoff tools may not need the additional project functions.

Blu, integrations and mobile

Blu provides AI assistance for estimating, takeoffs, estimate review and assembly. The plan determines what is included: Foundation has Assembly Assistant, while Estimate Generator is a $99/mo add-on; Pro includes Estimate Generator, with Takeoff Assistant at $99/mo and Estimate Reviewer at $149/mo as add-ons. Master includes all three Blu tools.

Accounting integrations include Xero, QuickBooks and MYOB AccountRight. QuickBooks support is for online versions and excludes Simple Start. The Buildxact Onsite app lets crews view and update job information, but syncing jobs and the site diary requires Pro or Teams. That makes the mobile workflow less useful to teams choosing Foundation.

Buildxact says customer data is stored in Microsoft Azure, encrypted in transit and at rest, with access controls and automated backups. Its security monitoring and compliance include standards such as ISO 27001 and SOC 2. Subscriptions include support, with training, webinars, a knowledge base and one-to-one consultation also offered.

Pricing

Go is free at 0.00 USD per free. It includes five complimentary credits, AI estimating, professional proposals and Home Depot material ordering. The credit cap limits its usefulness for ongoing work, but it gives a small team a way to start without a paid subscription.

Foundation costs 169.00 USD per month, billed annually at $2,030, with a 12-month commitment. It includes unlimited users, lead management, digital takeoffs, Blu Assembly Assistant, purchase orders, training and support. It suits builders prioritizing estimating and sales workflows; job management, schedules and the Onsite app are not part of its stated inclusions.

Pro costs 339.00 USD per month, billed annually at $4,070, also with a 12-month commitment. It includes everything in Foundation plus Blu Estimate Generator, job management, schedules and the Onsite app. This is the more relevant tier for teams that need active-job coordination and mobile syncing, although Takeoff Assistant and Estimate Reviewer cost extra.

Master costs 509.00 USD per month, billed annually at $6,110, with a 12-month commitment. It adds Blu Takeoff Assistant, Blu Estimate Reviewer, user access controls and priority customer support to Pro. It is aimed at teams needing those additional AI tools and access controls; smaller builders may find Pro sufficient.

A 14-day trial is available. The annual commitment matters at every paid tier, so the monthly figures should not be mistaken for month-to-month terms.

Platforms

Buildxact is available on the web, Android and iOS. Its Onsite mobile app gives crews access to job information, with job and site-diary syncing gated to Pro or Teams.

Who it's for

Buildxact best fits residential builders who want estimating, dealer material pricing and project coordination under one roof, especially when unlimited users on Foundation or job management on Pro matches their workflow. It is a weaker fit for occasional estimators who need more than five free credits, teams requiring mobile syncing on a lower paid tier, or buyers unwilling to commit for a year.

Pros and cons

Pros: PDF takeoffs and dealer pricing connect estimating with material costs and quote requests.
Pros: Pro extends estimates into job management, schedules and mobile access; Foundation already includes unlimited users.
Pros: Accounting integrations include Xero, QuickBooks online versions and MYOB AccountRight.
Cons: Go's five complimentary credits make the free option narrow for recurring work.
Cons: Paid plans require a 12-month commitment, and mobile syncing is unavailable below Pro or Teams.
Cons: Foundation users pay extra for Estimate Generator, while Pro users pay extra for Takeoff Assistant and Estimate Reviewer.

Alternatives

STACK is worth considering for teams whose main need is plan measurement: its free tier allows one active project per month, up to 300 plan pages, 50 measurements per project and one viewer seat.
Estimate Rocket may suit buyers focused on estimating who prefer a paid entry plan without Buildxact's stated annual commitment; Launch is $139.00 USD per month and includes three full users, with additional full and field users priced separately.
Trimble Quadri offers a free read-only model viewer with viewing, commenting and measurement tools, a different option for model review rather than Buildxact's residential estimating and job workflow.
Trimble Viewpoint Vista uses custom pricing and offers cloud-hosted and on-premises deployments.
HCSS uses custom quotes that require company type and role.
DESTINI Estimator is another paid estimating option.
Procore prices its subscription through an upfront annual fee based on selected products and Annual Construction Volume.
PlanningPoker.live is another freemium platform.

Verdict

Choose Buildxact if you are a residential builder who wants estimates, dealer pricing and project coordination in a single workflow, and can justify the annual plan commitment. Its clearest reason to choose is the path from PDF takeoff and material pricing into scheduled, managed jobs; look elsewhere if you need a more substantial free tier or mobile syncing without moving up to Pro.
