Overview

CandidReel is an asynchronous video interview platform for hiring teams that want candidates to record first-round answers on their own time. It suits agency, in-house and high-volume recruiters seeking a structured review process; the English-only summaries and scoring are an important constraint for multilingual hiring.

Its mix of recorded answers, recruiter-defined evaluation and candidate pipelines can help teams handle screening without scheduling every initial conversation live. Browse Video Interview Software to compare tools in the category.

Key features

Candidate recording and review

Candidates can record from a desktop or mobile browser without an app or account, reducing setup at the application stage. Recruiters set retake rules per question, choosing unlimited attempts or a maximum. That flexibility helps tailor interviews, though unlimited retakes may be unsuitable when consistent conditions across applicants matter.

AI-assisted assessment

CandidReel transcribes interviews, summarizes answers and scores them against criteria recruiters define. Transcription supports over 30 languages, but summaries and scoring are generated in English. Teams hiring across languages can use the transcripts as a starting point, but should not expect equivalent-language summaries or scoring.

Pipeline and review sharing

Job-specific visual pipelines have configurable stages and drag-and-drop candidate movement, giving recruiters a way to track progress by opening. Shareable candidate and shortlist links let hiring managers view videos, transcripts, summaries and ratings without an account. Links expire after a configurable period—seven days by default—and can be revoked, which gives teams control over access.

Integrations

CandidReel offers two-way sync for interview results and candidate stages with Greenhouse, Lever, Bullhorn and JobAdder. ATS integrations require Pro or above, so teams on Free cannot use them. A REST API and webhook system support custom integrations; Enterprise includes custom integrations.

Pricing

CandidReel has a Free plan and a free trial. Free includes five interviews per month, three pre-screen questions, video recording and playback, candidate management and shareable review links. That cap makes it most appropriate for a small pilot or very light interview volume; teams needing more interviews or questions will need a paid tier.

The pricing note says paid plans start at $29/mo, while the stated Pro plan is 79.00 USD per month. Pro includes 50 interviews per month, unlimited pre-screen questions, AI scoring and summaries, scorecards and evaluations, a drag-and-drop interview builder, custom branding and priority support. ATS integrations also begin at this tier. Its 50-interview allowance and evaluation tools make it the clearest fit for teams running regular screening, but the monthly quota still matters for high-volume hiring.

Enterprise has custom pricing and includes custom interview limits, a dedicated account manager, SSO and SAML, custom integrations and an SLA guarantee. It is aimed at organizations that need tailored volume or enterprise controls rather than a fixed monthly allowance.

Platforms

CandidReel is available on Android, iOS and the web. Candidates can record in a browser on desktop or mobile without installing an app, which keeps candidate participation separate from the platform apps.

Who it's for

Agency recruiters, in-house teams and high-volume hiring teams can use CandidReel to collect recorded answers and coordinate later review. It is strongest where asynchronous screening, configurable retakes, shared evaluations and job-based pipelines address a real workflow need. Teams that depend on non-English AI summaries or scoring, or need ATS integration before Pro, should consider those limits before adopting it.

Pros and cons

Pros

Browser recording without an app or candidate account reduces access friction for applicants.
Recruiter-defined scoring, summaries and scorecards give reviewers structured material alongside video responses.
Configurable review-link expiry and revocation let teams manage access to shared candidate materials.
Two-way ATS sync supports both interview results and candidate stages on Pro and above.

Cons

AI summaries and scoring are English-only, limiting their direct usefulness for multilingual evaluation.
The Free plan is capped at five interviews per month and three pre-screen questions.
ATS integrations are unavailable below Pro, so free users cannot connect the listed systems through those integrations.
Pro's stated allowance is 50 interviews monthly, which may not cover the needs of the highest-volume teams.

Alternatives

FaceCruit is another freemium option, with a free tier offering up to 25 minutes, reference requests and QR codes; consider it when those capabilities better match the interview workflow.

Hyring has a free plan with 50 monthly credits, one seat, one active job post, English-only operation and one AI voice, and a Pro plan at 79.00 USD per month with 50 credits and five seats. Choose it if its credit-and-seat structure or listed English-only setup better suits your team.

Yupcha offers a free plan, while paid plans unlock bulk invites, custom branding, API access and priority support; consider it when those paid capabilities are the deciding factor.

EasyHire.me has an entry plan at 49.00 USD per month, billed per job monthly, with 10 monthly interviews, three team members and one month of interview storage. It may suit teams whose per-job entry tier and stated limits fit their needs.

Truffle is paid rather than freemium, but offers a seven-day trial with 30 credits, every feature unlocked and no credit card required. Consider it if a time-limited trial with full feature access is preferable to a free ongoing tier.

Interviewer.AI is a paid option with a trial; its Essential Edition costs 199.00 USD per month and includes 50 interview credits monthly, three job posts monthly, 20 minutes per interview and 15 total user licenses. It may fit teams for whom those stated allowances are a better match.

One Way Interview is another paid platform with a free trial; consider it as an alternative if you are comparing paid video interview tools.

RecRam is paid, has no free plan and offers a free trial; consider it as another paid alternative if CandidReel's free tier is not the right fit.

Verdict

CandidReel is a sensible choice for recruiting teams that want browser-based asynchronous interviews, structured AI-assisted review and shared hiring-manager access in one workflow. Its strongest reasons to choose it are low-friction candidate recording and recruiter-controlled review; its main reasons to look elsewhere are English-only summaries and scoring, plus the Pro requirement for ATS integrations. The Free plan is useful for a small-volume start, while teams relying on integrations or sustained interview volume should weigh Pro's 50-per-month limit and Enterprise's custom pricing.
