Overview

Provided by Suran Systems, Inc., CDM+ combines accounting with operational tools for nonprofit and faith-based organizations. Its accounting supports designated and undesignated fund balances, fund transfers, unlimited accounts, bank reconciliation, customizable reporting, and an unchangeable ledger audit trail. Those capabilities address the need to separate funds and retain a record of ledger activity.

Beyond accounting, CDM+ supports clergy payroll, different employee roles and payers with unique Federal EINs, electronic 1099 filing, and automatically updated tax tables. Customers can pay invoices online by card or ACH, with payments saved to CDM+ Accounting; staff can submit photographed receipts to Accounts Payable through the mobile app.

Data Hosting comes with every plan, including 24/7 database access, daily off-site backups, and automatic server upgrades. CDM+ says most hosting facilities are SOC-2 certified and remote access is limited to Suran staff using best-practice security controls. Support includes introductory training on every plan, with phone and email help during weekday business hours as well as online and in-person training, documentation, and videos.

Key features

Fund accounting and audit trail: Separate designated and undesignated balances, transfer funds, and review an unchangeable ledger audit trail and reports. This is central to CDM+'s case for organizations with fund-accounting needs.
Budgeting and reporting: Set annual and monthly budgets and compare actuals with budget. Customizable reports add flexibility, though the suite's record limits still matter when choosing a lower tier.
Payroll and billing: Clergy payroll, role-specific payers, electronic 1099 filing, and updated tax tables serve organizations with distinct payroll needs. Online card and ACH invoice payments flow into CDM+ Accounting, but transaction fees apply.
Receipt submission: Staff can photograph receipts in the mobile app and send expenses to Accounts Payable, linking a mobile workflow to accounting.
Hosting and access: All plans include hosting, backups, and server upgrades. Desktop software uses concurrent licensing and can be installed on any number of computers, but simultaneous users are restricted except on Complete. Mobile Receipts can be installed on unlimited personal devices.
Integrations and migration: CDM+ integrates with bank accounts for accounting and reconciliation and provides an API for integrations into its suite. Essentials can export data but does not provide a specific QuickBooks integration. Data conversion is free for new subscriptions that remain active for at least 12 months.

Pricing

CDM+ has no free plan. SaaS plans are paid monthly by automatic ACH withdrawal; annual payment is not available. The starting price is $25.00 per month for one program and one user.

Plan	Price	What it includes	Best fit
Essentials	$25.00 per month	One program; one user at the base price	Organizations needing a single program at the entry price. It can export data, but lacks a specific QuickBooks integration.
Starter	$25.00 per month	One program, one concurrent user, 50 individual records, and 25 giving unit records	Small record sets that fit within both caps.
Grow 1	$50.00 per month	One program, one concurrent user, 75 individual records, and 50 giving unit records	Organizations that need more room than Starter provides.
Grow 2	$75.00 per month	One program, one concurrent user, 100 individual records, and 75 giving unit records	Organizations needing the larger published Grow record limits.
Core	$100.00 per month	One program and one concurrent user	Organizations considering a single-program plan at a higher tier; the published plan details do not specify record caps.
Choice	$50.00 per month	One program, one concurrent user, unlimited individual and giving unit records	Organizations that need unlimited records in one program without Complete's unlimited programs and users.
Complete	$175.00 per month	Unlimited programs, concurrent users, individual records, and giving unit records	Organizations that need to remove the published program, user, and record ceilings.

Starter and Grow cap individual and giving unit records, so the lower-priced options are best only when those quotas fit. Most plans include one concurrent user; additional users generally cost $5 monthly, with exceptions. Additional organizations generally cost $15 monthly, subject to a $30 monthly cap. Complete is the clearest choice when unlimited concurrent licenses and programs are worth the higher monthly price.

Payment processing fees are $0.30 plus 2.9% for Visa, MasterCard, and Discover; $0.30 plus 3.5% for American Express; and $0.30 plus 0.8% for ACH. Payroll direct deposit costs $0.50.

Platforms

CDM+ supports Android, iOS, macOS, web, and Windows, and offers an API. It combines desktop software with Apple, Google, and Amazon mobile apps. Unlimited computer installations do not mean unlimited simultaneous desktop users: concurrent licensing applies except on Complete.

Who it's for

CDM+ is best suited to nonprofit and faith-based organizations that need fund accounting, budget tracking, bank reconciliation, financial reporting, and expense management in a hosted suite. It is particularly relevant where clergy payroll, invoice payments, or receipt submission should sit alongside accounting. Organizations with growing records or multiple simultaneous users should compare plan limits and the cost of added licenses before choosing an entry tier.

Pros and cons

Pros

Fund accounting is built into the ledger: Designated and undesignated balances, transfers, unlimited accounts, and an unchangeable audit trail support fund-specific accounting.
Hosting is included across plans: 24/7 database access, daily off-site backups, and automatic server upgrades come with every plan.
Accounting connects to adjacent workflows: Online invoice payments are saved to CDM+ Accounting, while mobile receipt submissions go to Accounts Payable.
Complete removes major ceilings: The $175.00 per month plan includes unlimited programs, users, and records.

Cons

Entry plans constrain records: Starter and Grow have individual and giving unit caps, which may force a higher tier as records grow.
Monthly ACH is the only SaaS billing term: Annual payment is unavailable, and automatic withdrawals may not suit organizations seeking another billing method.
Additional users can raise the bill: Most plans include one concurrent user, with additional users generally costing $5 monthly.
Essentials is not a QuickBooks integration: It can export data, but organizations requiring a specific integration should not treat it as one.

Alternatives

For narrower comparisons, browse Nonprofit Payroll Software, Church Payroll Software, Church Accounting Software, Fund Accounting Software, or Church Check-In Software.

For a free payroll option capped at nine or fewer employees paid monthly, Payroll4Free may suit organizations willing to use advertising-supported basic services. OnPay is a payroll-focused alternative with a $49.00 per month base fee plus $6 per worker per month and unlimited pay runs and schedules; consider it when those payroll terms matter more than CDM+'s fund-accounting suite. Patriot Payroll offers Basic Payroll at $8.50 per month, with unlimited payrolls and employee and contractor pay, for organizations prioritizing a lower-priced payroll plan. Realm, Wagepoint, and Rippling are other alternatives to consider.

Wave has a free Starter plan for estimates, invoices, bills, and bookkeeping records, making it a potential fit for readers seeking free invoicing and bookkeeping rather than CDM+'s nonprofit fund-accounting scope. Homebase offers a free plan and task and tip manager add-ons, making it an alternative for readers focused on those tools rather than nonprofit accounting.

Verdict

Choose CDM+ if your nonprofit or faith-based organization needs fund accounting with payroll, billing, and expense workflows under one hosted subscription. Its strongest reasons to buy are the fund-aware ledger, unchangeable audit trail, and included hosting. Look elsewhere if record caps, one-user defaults, or monthly ACH billing do not fit; the lower tiers trade cost for limits, while Complete carries a substantially higher monthly price.
