Overview

Clients can browse barber profiles using filters such as distance, price and reviews, then select a service and available appointment time and confirm a booking in the app or on the website. Bringing discovery and booking together can help a barber turn a profile search into an appointment. But discovery has a direct cost on FREE, so barbers should weigh that charge against PRO’s monthly subscription if they expect clients to find them through the platform.

Key features

Booking and barber tools

Barbers can manage services, hours, prices, appointments, cancellation policies, client messages and notes. An online booking page, client mobile app, recurring bookings and email and SMS reminders support both new appointments and repeat visits. The combination is useful for keeping scheduling and client details in one workflow; the main limitation is that discovery economics differ sharply between FREE and PRO.

Shop operations and payments

The Shop plan includes staff and shop management, multiple locations and booth-rent tracking. Owners can manage barbers, locations, team schedules and shop profiles, making it a relevant option for businesses coordinating more than one barber or location. In-app payment methods include Apple Pay, Cash App Pay and Google Pay. Payment-processing transactions carry a flat 2.75% fee; standard deposits go to a connected bank account in 1–2 business days, while supported instant deposits can arrive within minutes. Verification can take up to 48 hours and longer in some cases.

Pricing

The pricing model is freemium, with a free plan, a 30-day trial and paid plans from $25/mo. The barber-oriented FREE plan costs 0.00 USD per month and includes client booking and payment processing at 2.75%, but charges $10 per client for discovery. That can suit a barber who wants booking tools without paying a monthly subscription, provided discovery charges fit their customer acquisition needs.

PRO costs 25.00 USD per month and includes client booking, payment processing at 2.75%, client discovery and client blasts. It is the clearer fit for barbers who rely on discovery and want that cost included in a monthly price. Payment processing remains a separate percentage fee.

The Shop plan costs 0.00 USD per month and includes shop and staff management, multiple locations and booth-rent tracking. It serves owners who need those operational tools; its listed plan benefits do not include the barber-plan discovery terms. The plans have different purposes, so owners should distinguish shop management from a barber’s booking and discovery choice.

Platforms

theCut is available on Android, iOS and the web. Clients can book through the app or website, giving them both mobile and browser access.

Who it's for

Independent barbers can use theCut to manage appointments and client information while offering online booking. It is especially compelling when platform discovery is valuable enough to justify either the $10-per-client FREE charge or the PRO subscription. Shop owners managing staff, schedules, locations or booth rent have a separate reason to consider the free Shop plan. It is a weaker fit for barbers who do not need discovery and prefer a simpler booking-only option.

Pros and cons

Pro: Discovery and booking share a workflow, so clients can move from comparing barber profiles to confirming an appointment.
Pro: The free Shop plan covers multiple locations and booth-rent tracking, useful for owners with shop-level responsibilities.
Pro: Recurring bookings, email and SMS reminders, and client notes support repeat-business administration.
Con: FREE charges $10 per client for discovery, which can make costs less predictable for barbers drawing clients from the platform.
Con: The 2.75% payment-processing fee still applies to payment-processing transactions, including on PRO.

Alternatives

Barbershop Scheduling Software is a useful place to compare options in the category. Choose Nearcut if its free-for-you model suits better: clients pay a small booking charge at checkout, refunded if they cancel, and there is no monthly bill. Pronto may fit a small operation looking for a free plan capped at one staff member, 100 clients and 50 bookings per month, with support for Linux, macOS, Windows, web and self-hosting. Reservio is another free option, with its Free plan capped at 40 bookings per 30 days and 100 clients.

Barberly is worth comparing if a paid plan charged per barber is preferable; its 5+ team members plan costs 9.00 USD per month per barber. Openfront Law Firm is an alternative. Barbs may suit a solo barber seeking a free plan with one barber, unlimited queue and walk-ins, and 15 online bookings per day. salOWN offers a free web plan for one stylist and 50 bookings per month. StyleSeat is a paid alternative with a 19.00 USD per month Pro plan after its free trial, unlimited bookings and calendar, up to 15 chairs, and no contracts.

Verdict

Choose theCut if you are a barber who wants discovery and booking together, or a shop owner who needs staff, location and booth-rent management. Its strongest case is connecting client discovery directly to appointments while also offering shop tools. Look elsewhere if discovery fees do not suit your business: FREE charges $10 per client, and PRO still carries the 2.75% processing fee.
