Overview

ChoirMate brings practice resources and choir coordination into one service, spanning rehearsal preparation, music sharing, attendance and member communication. That combination makes it a better fit for ensembles than for musicians seeking only a personal practice planner. The service says it supports choirs from small community groups to large choral societies, with more than 100,000 singers using it across 13 languages.

Key features

Rehearsal tracks are organized by set list, song and voice group, and conductors or members can record audio. That part-based arrangement helps singers find material relevant to their part, while member recordings give the group a way to contribute practice resources. The free plan’s ten audio files per user can become a constraint for groups with a broad repertoire. Subscribers can play audio and read scores offline, but must open each resource while connected first.

Members can access sheet music and shared remarks, with a built-in piano for working through scores. Choirs can track attendance against calendar activities and export it in an Excel-friendly file, which is useful for organizers who need to carry those records into another workflow.

Communication includes management messages and comments, direct and group chats, and voice-group threads. Premium calendar synchronization works with Google Calendar, iCloud and other calendar platforms, helping members keep choir activities alongside their other commitments.

ChoirMate says data traffic is encrypted and user content is encrypted at rest in Google data centers. Account data is deleted within three months after a user requests account deletion.

Pricing

The Free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and supports up to 50 people, with 10 audio files per user and 15 songs in the repertoire. It covers a small choir’s basic coordination and practice needs, but the audio and song caps may push music-heavy groups toward a paid package. ChoirMate also offers a free trial.

Individual ChoirMate Premium costs 4.99 USD per month as an individual subscription option for choir members; the core choir service remains free. Standard Package costs 26.67 USD per month, billed with 17% annual savings, and supports up to 50 people with 25 MB of extra storage for documents, photos and videos. Sheet music and audio are unlimited. Premium Package costs 53.33 USD per month, also billed with 17% annual savings, and keeps the 50-person limit while increasing extra storage to 100 MB; sheet music and audio remain unlimited. Standard is the more economical group upgrade when 25 MB is enough, while Premium suits groups that need the larger allowance for other files. The paid group packages still cap attendance at 50 people.

Platforms

ChoirMate is available on web, iOS and Android. The iOS app requires iOS 16 or later, and the Android app requires Android 8.0 Oreo or later.

Who it's for

ChoirMate suits choirs that want rehearsal tracks, sheet music, attendance and member communication under one roof, especially when singers benefit from voice-group organization. It is less compelling for solo musicians who need only individual practice tools, or larger ensembles that cannot work within the 50-person limit on the listed group packages.

Pros and cons

Choir-specific practice organization: tracks are sorted by set list, song and voice group, and members as well as conductors can record audio.
Useful organizer tools: attendance exports in an Excel-friendly format, while messages, comments and voice-group threads support choir communication.
Free-plan ceilings: the 50-person maximum, 10 audio files per user and 15-song repertoire may be tight for growing or repertoire-rich choirs.
Paid tiers retain a group cap: both listed packages support up to 50 people, and the added storage is modest for documents, photos and videos.
Offline use takes preparation: subscribers must open scores and audio online before using them offline.

Alternatives

For a broader set of practice-focused options, browse Music Practice Software. Practis is a closer fit for individual practice tracking, with a free plan for up to five active pieces and daily and weekly goals; choose it when those practice tools matter more than choir administration. Modacity is another practice-focused option with a free plan limited to 10 practice items and two practice lists.

MatchMySound offers a free teacher account with enrolled, active students, making it an alternative to consider for a teacher-led setup. My Practice Canvas has a free plan with one PDF up to 10 pages, YouTube loops and annotations, and a Practice Coach; it may suit practice centered on those materials. Vivid Practice has a forever-free plan for one student, while Octero offers a freemium option across web, iOS and Android. Maestro Planner provides a free teacher plan for up to three active students, and Practice Space offers a paid Plus plan with unlimited free student access and an additional teacher seat for $6.95/mo.

Verdict

ChoirMate is a strong choice for ensembles that want shared rehearsal resources alongside attendance and communication, rather than stitching together separate tools. The free plan makes it possible to start without a group subscription, but choirs with more than 50 people or substantial audio and repertoire needs should weigh the caps and package costs before choosing it.
