Overview

The Church Co is a website builder and digital platform for churches and ministries that want a shared home for church information and community activity. It suits congregations bringing sermons, events and member resources online; its main appeal is the breadth of church-specific tools, while a custom app is reserved for the On-demand team.

Key features

A drag-and-drop builder, templates and custom pages let churches shape a site without relying on a generic publishing setup. Sermon publishing, an event calendar, staff pages and donation links handle common website needs. Forms, prayer requests, small groups, sermon notes, livestreams and a member portal extend the site into a place for participation, which is useful for congregations that want members to find more than service details in one place.

Planning Center can automatically sync events, registrations, groups, forms, giving and sermons to the website. That is a practical advantage for churches already managing those activities in Planning Center. Other integrations include Tithely, Church Community Builder, Church Suite, Stripe, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Google Optimize, Facebook, Intercom and Drift. Online giving is powered by Stripe.

The branded church app syncs with the website and can carry sermons, events, forms, prayer requests, giving, groups and livestreams. The restriction matters: a custom app requires the On-demand team and is not available on basic or premium plans. Churches that need an app should confirm that this route fits before choosing their plan.

The company says its customer success team can help, with training videos, webinars, articles, blog posts and chat support. Its privacy policy says data is stored on secure servers, payment information is sent over an encrypted connection, and submitted information may be stored in the United States or Australia.

Pricing

The Church Co is paid software with a 14-day trial and no free plan.

Simple setup: Free, included with a yearly subscription. It covers up to 9 pages, 0 revisions and a 3-week average turnaround. This suits a small site that can work within the page cap and does not need revisions.
Essentials setup: 299.00 USD per once, a one-time fee. It allows up to 20 pages, 1 revision and a 1-week average turnaround, with content imports requiring RSS. The higher page allowance and faster turnaround suit churches wanting a quicker guided setup without paying for design customization.
Tailored setup: 799.00 USD per once, a one-time fee. It includes up to 40 pages, 2 revisions, a 1.5-week average turnaround, initial SEO configuration, RSS-required content imports and a lightly customized design. This is a stronger fit for a larger site that needs some design adaptation and search setup.
Custom setup: 999.00 USD per once, a one-time fee. It covers up to 50 pages, 3 revisions, a 2-week average turnaround, initial SEO configuration, RSS-required content imports and custom design. Choose it when the site needs more room and a more individualized design; it still caps pages and revisions.

The setup packages do not replace the platform's paid-plan decision. In particular, the custom app requires the On-demand team rather than basic or premium, so churches should weigh that requirement alongside the yearly subscription and setup costs.

Platforms

The Church Co supports web, Android and iOS. That combination suits churches serving people on both desktop and mobile, with the branded app offering a channel for synced church content when the required team option is in place.

Who it's for

The Church Co is best for churches and ministries seeking a church-focused website with publishing, participation and giving tools, especially those already using Planning Center. Its setup packages also give churches a choice between handling a limited build and paying for a more guided or customized launch. It is less suitable when a custom app is mandatory but the On-demand team is not an option.

Pros and cons

Pro: Church-specific features span sermons, events, groups, prayer requests, livestreams and a member portal, reducing the need to treat the website as a static information page.
Pro: Planning Center can sync several types of church content automatically, a meaningful convenience for congregations already using that system.
Pro: Setup tiers scale from a no-additional-fee option with a yearly subscription to custom design, SEO configuration and larger page limits.
Con: The custom app is restricted to the On-demand team, excluding basic and premium plans.
Con: Setup packages impose page and revision caps, and content imports require RSS; the Simple option includes no revisions and allows only 9 pages.
Con: Payment data may be stored in the United States or Australia, a consideration for churches with specific data-location requirements.

Alternatives

Church Website Builders is a useful next stop for comparing church-focused website options. Choose Tithely Giving instead if giving is the priority: its Free Giving plan has no monthly fees and unlimited donations, though transaction fees apply. Planning Center is the more direct choice for churches seeking a freemium church-management platform, with free Calendar and People plans; The Church Co's Planning Center sync can complement it rather than replace it.

SimpleUpdates is worth considering when a web-only option and a free plan with unlimited pages and storage matter more than The Church Co's church-specific app and community features. Subsplash Church App is another church app option. For a broader website-builder alternative, Grigora offers a Starter plan at 15.00 USD per month, billed $144 yearly, with one website and five team members. Mainfolk offers a free plan with unlimited edits and around 10 AI assists per month. Congregate combines a public website and mobile app in its Economy plan at 20.00 USD per month. Tithely Custom Church App is a paid app option at 89.00 USD per month, with cancellation any time without penalty.

Verdict

Choose The Church Co if your church wants a website that brings publishing, giving and community features together, particularly if Planning Center is already part of your workflow. The breadth of church-focused tools and tiered setup packages are its strongest reasons to choose it. Look elsewhere if a custom app is essential but the On-demand team is out of reach, or if setup page and revision limits do not suit the launch you need.
