Overview

Cinema8 is a business video platform for hosting, creating and measuring interactive video. It is a strong fit for teams building sales, marketing or learning experiences around viewer responses. Its breadth is compelling, but storage, bandwidth and video caps make choosing a plan carefully essential.

Key features

Screen recording and editing join hosting in one platform, which can simplify production for teams that want to create and distribute video together. Branching paths, hotspots, annotations, quizzes and assessments let teams shape viewing around decisions or learning checks; lead forms and clickable calls to action support lead capture and conversion. These tools are more than a basic hosting workflow needs, so their value depends on whether viewers should actively respond.

AI workflows can generate subtitles, chapters, keyword tags and SEO-compatible summaries. A/B testing, dashboards, heatmaps and interaction reports give teams ways to assess how audiences engage and compare content. CRM, e-commerce, LMS and analytics integrations, plus custom APIs and webhooks, help connect video activity to wider business workflows.

Interactive video supports SCORM export for LMS use, and Pro Plus lists both SCORM and xAPI export. The Chrome extension records screen and camera video and supports sharing, calls to action, forms and analytics. Cinema8 states its video technology is ISO 27001-certified and offers encryption, in-video SSO and domain-restricted access; password protection, domain-restricted embedding and role-based permissions add access controls. These options suit organizations with security and governance needs, though the listed controls alone do not establish whether they meet a particular organization's requirements.

Pricing

Cinema8 has a free plan and a 14-day trial. The Free plan costs 0.00 USD per free, billed yearly, and allows one seat, 2 GB storage, 500 GB bandwidth and 10 videos. It is a useful way for an individual to start, but the storage and video ceilings can constrain ongoing use. It includes documentation and community support.

Starter is 15.00 USD per month, billed monthly, for 60 videos, 100 GB storage and 1 TB bandwidth. Pro costs 30.00 USD per month, billed monthly, and raises those allowances to 150 videos, 500 GB and 2 TB. Both suit teams whose usage fits their caps; neither lists seat limits or support terms in these plan details. Pro Plus, at 105.00 USD per month billed monthly, allows 600 videos, 2 TB storage and 3 TB bandwidth, and lists SCORM and xAPI export—relevant for teams that need both formats, but a substantial step up from Pro.

Business costs 639.00 USD per month, billed yearly. It includes unlimited seats, 5TB storage, 15TB bandwidth, unlimited videos within the storage allowance and 15,000 AI tokens per month. This is aimed at larger teams with higher throughput and AI needs; the yearly billing term is a significant commitment. Enterprise uses custom pricing for tailored storage and bandwidth, custom integrations, enhanced security and governance, and a dedicated customer success manager.

Paid plans list email support with response SLAs ranging from 72 hours to 8 hours. The published pricing note says paid plans start at $12/mo (annual), while Starter is priced at 15.00 USD per month billed monthly; confirm the billing term and applicable plan before budgeting.

Platforms

Cinema8 supports web, API and extension access. Its Chrome extension adds screen and camera recording, useful for teams that want to capture video from the browser as part of their workflow.

Who it's for

Sales teams, video marketers, e-commerce teams and educators are the clearest fit: the platform combines calls to action and forms with engagement analytics and learning exports. Businesses that need integrations or access controls may also value its API and security features. A team that only needs straightforward hosting, or cannot forecast its storage and bandwidth use, may find the interactive toolkit and tier limits harder to justify.

Pros and cons

Pros: Creation, hosting and interactive features sit together, supporting workflows from recording through viewer response.
Pros: Heatmaps, interaction reports and A/B testing help teams evaluate audience behavior rather than count plays alone.
Pros: Business includes unlimited seats and monthly AI tokens, while Enterprise offers tailored capacity and a dedicated success manager.
Cons: The Free plan's 2 GB storage and 10-video cap limit how far a team can grow before upgrading.
Cons: Pro Plus is the first plan explicitly listing SCORM and xAPI export, making those LMS export needs a potentially costly plan constraint.
Cons: Business is billed yearly at 639.00 USD per month, a substantial commitment compared with the monthly-billed lower tiers.

Alternatives

Interactive Video Software and Video Marketing are useful starting points for comparing tools by category. Consider Near-Life if its free plan's single project, 2D media, 5GB storage and up to 100 plays suit a smaller project. H5P is a fit for readers seeking free, MIT-licensed, self-hosted plugins. Edpuzzle is worth considering for educators who can work within its free Basic allowance of 20 interactive activities and 10 supported assignments. Show by Animaker may suit teams prioritizing email and contact limits alongside basic analytics, with a free plan allowing 100 emails and 100 contacts per month.

Clixie is a paid option with a Lite plan that includes one editor, 720p video, three interactive videos and AI-generated subtitles, but no analytics. Mindstamp is another paid alternative, with a Basic plan priced at 990.00 USD per year and capped at five active videos and one admin seat. Hihaho may suit buyers comparing paid annual plans in EUR, including a Starter plan with one author and 75.000 views per year. TouchPoint Studio offers a different option for readers comparing interactive video tools.

Verdict

Choose Cinema8 if your business needs interactive video tied to audience measurement, lead capture or LMS workflows, and its plan limits match your expected usage. Its combination of creation tools, engagement analytics and integrations is the central reason to choose it. Look elsewhere if you need only simple hosting, or if the storage, bandwidth and export tiers make the cost difficult to plan.
