Overview

CleanVector creates illustrations, icons, logos and mascots, and can turn uploaded raster images into editable SVG paths with transparent backgrounds. Its icon-sheet workflow makes a set from one prompt, removes the background and converts the icons into vector paths. A single generation pass is designed to give the icons shared proportions, stroke and palette, which is useful for a coherent interface set but less suited to collections assembled from unrelated assets.

The maker recommends six to ten icons per sheet and suggests using multiple sheets for larger libraries. Each sheet costs four credits; exporting it again at a different size is free. A set can be exported as one SVG, with each icon in its own group of paths, or as PNG. Both formats remain available after editing.

Key features

Prompt-based icon sheets: Generating a set in one pass helps maintain a common look. The recommended sheet size works for small collections, while larger libraries require repeated generations and more credits.
SVG editing and raster conversion: Editable paths give users room to adjust vector artwork, and conversion can turn uploaded images into SVGs with transparent backgrounds. It is a more focused option for vector assets than a general-purpose image-generation plan.
Flexible exports: SVG preserves editable paths; PNG provides a raster option. Re-exporting at another size without extra credits is handy when preparing several output sizes.
Agent and API access: Plus and Pro include API and MCP access. The MCP server supports AI agents, with setup instructions for Claude Code and Cursor. MCP image vectorization accepts PNG, JPG or WebP files up to 5 MB; execution through either API or MCP requires one of those paid plans.
Commercial use and data handling: Commercial use is allowed on every plan. Prompts and uploaded images are sent to fal.ai and model providers available through it for processing; CleanVector says it does not use that content to train models or sell data. Traffic is encrypted in transit with TLS, stored content is access-controlled, and account deletion requests are completed within 30 days.

Pricing

The free plan costs 0.00 USD per month (billed $0/month) and includes 10 credits a month, one permanent SVG download, unlimited PNG exports, a color editor and free browser tools. New accounts receive 10 free credits with no card required, and the pricing page describes the free allowance as monthly. This is enough to explore the workflow, but the SVG cap makes it a poor fit for regular vector export.

Starter costs 5.00 USD per month (billed $5/month). It includes 150 credits a month, about 37 AI generations, 150 image conversions, SVG and transparent PNG export at any size, and a color editor with custom backgrounds. This is the practical entry point for recurring individual use: it removes the free plan’s permanent-SVG bottleneck, though its monthly credit allowance still limits volume.

Plus costs 19.00 USD per month (billed $19/month) and provides 600 credits a month, about 150 AI generations, API and MCP server access, and priority processing. It suits higher-volume users and developers who need programmatic or agent access; Starter does not include those integrations.

Pro costs 49.00 USD per month (billed $49/month). Its 1,700 monthly credits, about 425 AI generations, best price per credit and early access to new features make it the volume choice. For users who do not need that allowance or early access, Plus costs less; the paid plan details give no seat counts, so teams should not assume a particular seat allocation.

Support replies by email, usually within one business day. Commercial use is permitted on every tier, so upgrading is driven by credits, export allowance and access rather than a change in usage rights.

Platforms

CleanVector is available on the web and through an API. API and MCP execution require Plus or Pro, so the free and Starter plans are for browser-based work rather than integrated workflows.

Who it's for

CleanVector is a good fit for designers, developers and small product teams that need coordinated icons, editable SVGs or raster-to-vector conversion. The free plan is a low-commitment way to try the workflow; Starter fits recurring individual use, while Plus or Pro make more sense when monthly volume or API and MCP access matters. It is less compelling for users who need many permanent SVG downloads without a subscription, or who want to generate a large library without repeating sheets.

Pros and cons

Pro: A single prompt can produce a visually coordinated sheet, avoiding the inconsistency that can come from building a set from separate generations.
Pro: SVG and PNG exports, editable paths and free re-exporting at another size support different delivery needs without spending credits on each size.
Pro: Commercial use is allowed on all plans, and the free plan provides monthly credits without requiring a card.
Con: The free plan allows only one permanent SVG download, sharply limiting its usefulness for ongoing vector work.
Con: API and MCP access begin at Plus, making the $5/month Starter tier unsuitable for users who need those integrations.
Con: Larger icon libraries require several sheets, each costing four credits, so volume consumes the monthly allowance even though size re-exports are free.

Alternatives

For a broader directory of prompt-based icon tools, compare AI Icon Generators; for tools focused on vector creation, see AI Vector Generators.

Appilot is a freemium option across Android, iOS and web, with a free plan offering 15 credits a month and one project, and a Pro plan at 19.99 USD per month for 100 credits and three projects. Choose it when mobile platform access and project slots matter more than CleanVector’s SVG-focused workflow.

IconsMint is a web-based freemium alternative whose free plan includes five AI icons on signup, browsing of more than 100,000 icons and 30 downloads a day in SVG and PNG formats. It is worth considering when browsing a large icon catalog and daily downloads matter alongside generated icons.

MiniMind AI is another freemium alternative.

IconsCove is a paid alternative with free signup credits.

Plugger is a paid API and web platform with a free trial.

BudgetPixel AI is a freemium API and web alternative with a free plan that includes 300 credits a month for image and video generation and editing.

Icovela is a freemium API and web alternative whose free plan includes 200 one-time credits and five Photo to 3D Icon uses.

Ludo.ai Sprite Generator is a paid API and web option with a free trial that includes 30 credits and watermarked sprite-sheet downloads.

Verdict

Choose CleanVector if you need editable SVGs or small, coordinated icon sets and value having generation, conversion and editing in one workflow. Its strongest reason to choose it is the shared-style sheet paired with editable exports; its clearest reason to look elsewhere is the limited free SVG allowance, with API and MCP access reserved for Plus and Pro.
