Overview

ClickUp is a work-management platform that brings task views, automation, time tracking, and integrations into one workspace. It suits teams that want flexible ways to organize work and can manage plan limits and Workspace-by-Workspace billing. Its free tier is generous on tasks and members, but tight on storage and guest permissions.

Founded in 2017 and headquartered in San Diego, ClickUp offers apps for iOS, Android, Mac, and Windows. Its listed security certifications include SOC 2 and ISO 27001, and it lists GDPR and HIPAA compliance.

Key features

Views, tasks, and time

List, Board, Calendar, Team, and Gantt views give teams several ways to organize and review work. Time tracking is also available. The free plan allows unlimited tasks and members, which makes it practical to start with a broad team; its 60MB file-storage cap and single form are more likely to constrain work involving shared files or forms.

Automation and integrations

Automation rules scale from 100 executions to 250,000 executions, depending on plan. That range supports different workflow volumes, but teams should match their expected usage to the plan before committing. ClickUp lists more than 50 native integrations, including Slack, HubSpot, Google Drive, Salesforce, Zapier, and Dropbox.

Guests and support

Free-plan guests have full create and edit permissions, and those permissions cannot be changed. That is a poor fit when external collaborators should have restricted access. Paid plans include limited external guest seats and unlimited read-only guests. Free Forever includes 24/7 support, and ClickUp advertises a 100% money-back guarantee.

Pricing

ClickUp uses a freemium model, with Free Forever available without a credit card. Paid plans are billed separately for each Workspace, so organizations managing multiple workspaces should account for that structure in their budget.

Free Forever: 0.00 USD per free. Includes 60MB of storage, unlimited tasks, unlimited free-plan members, and one form. This is a useful starting point for teams that can work within the storage and guest-permission limits.
Unlimited: 10.00 USD per month, billed yearly. It adds unlimited storage, Gantt charts, integrations, and custom fields. It fits teams that need those capacities; the listed monthly price is on annual billing.
Business: 19.00 USD per month, billed yearly. Includes 5,000 automations per month and unlimited dashboards, activity views, and timeline views. It is the more suitable listed tier for teams relying on higher automation volume and those views.
Enterprise: Custom pricing through sales. Includes 250,000 automations per month and unlimited custom roles, for organizations that need those capabilities.
Brain AI: $9 per user/month for unlimited Brain Assistant and AI chat. ClickUp also offers AI Free Forever, a free AI plan with trial access to advanced AI features.

Automation limits vary by plan, from 100 to 250,000 executions.

Platforms

ClickUp offers apps for Android, iOS, macOS, and Windows, making it a candidate for teams working across those devices.

Who it's for

ClickUp is best suited to teams that want multiple work views, automation, time tracking, and a broad integration set in one platform. It is less suitable for teams that need strict control over free-plan guest editing or whose file-sharing needs exceed 60MB without moving to a paid tier. Buyers with several Workspaces should also include separate Workspace billing in their cost planning.

Pros and cons

Pros: Unlimited free tasks and members make it possible to include a team without per-member free-plan caps.
Pros: Five work views and more than 50 native integrations support different ways of organizing work and connecting services.
Pros: Free-plan 24/7 support and the advertised money-back guarantee add reassurance for buyers.
Cons: Free storage is limited to 60MB, and the plan includes only one form.
Cons: Free guests receive full create and edit permissions that cannot be modified, limiting control over external access.
Cons: Workspaces are billed separately, which matters for organizations operating more than one.

Alternatives

For automation-first needs, consider Zapier: its free plan includes 100 tasks per month, and Professional and Team plans offer a free trial. Verdict

Choose ClickUp if your team wants flexible work views, broad integrations, and room to scale automation from a free starting point. Look elsewhere if free guest access must be restricted, storage needs are substantial from day one, or separate Workspace charges do not suit your setup.
