Overview

Vodia combines core business telephony with a substantial call-center toolkit. Standard functions include transfers, conferences, incoming queues, hunt groups, paging, parked calls, and auto attendants. Agent groups, queue login and logout, service-level measurements, callbacks, and outbound dialing lists support teams handling structured inbound or outbound work. Smaller offices may find that breadth unnecessary, but organizations with varied call flows get more control than a basic extension-and-trunk service provides.

Cloud, on-premise, and hybrid deployment are supported across Windows, Debian, CentOS, and macOS environments. That makes the system a practical option when an organization must keep telephony alongside existing infrastructure or offer hosted, multi-tenant services to customers. Vodia also supports multiple business numbers, advanced routing, and voicemail transcription.

Key features

Incoming calls can be distributed through auto attendants, queues, hunt groups, and advanced routing rules. Conferences, transfers, paging, and parked calls cover everyday collaboration, while voicemail transcription reduces the need to listen to every message. Browser access and native Windows, Android, and iOS applications extend calling beyond a desk phone.

Call-center controls are more than an add-on: agent state management, service-level tracking, callbacks, and outbound dialing lists address operational workflows that ordinary business phone systems often omit. Vodia says JavaScript-based voice agents can connect with OpenAI, ElevenLabs, and other AI platforms. Its integration directory includes Microsoft 365, Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho, Cliniko, Cloudbeds, OpenAI, and ElevenLabs, which may reduce custom work when those systems are already central to a team.

Security features include TLS, SRTP, and ZRTP encryption options, plus automatic intrusion detection. Vodia provides support from US and EU offices, generally without a fee except for extraordinary issues, and maintains a public support forum.

Pricing

Pricing is custom, with a 60-day trial. The licensing structure matters as much as the eventual quote because capacity and included PBX functions vary by plan.

Standard

Standard is prepaid, with annual or monthly card charges, and comes in bundles from 5 to 1,000 user extensions for a single-tenant installation. It includes one auto attendant and one SIP trunk but no ACD groups. It fits a small or straightforward office; organizations needing multiple trunks or queue-based call-center work should move up.

Pro

Pro uses the same prepaid annual or monthly charging and 5-to-1,000-extension single-tenant bundles. It adds unlimited auto attendants and SIP trunks, with up to two ACD groups. This is a sensible middle tier for a dedicated system with several call flows, though larger contact-center operations may outgrow the ACD limit.

Enterprise

Enterprise is prepaid on annual or monthly card charges, single-tenant, and offered in 5-to-1,000-extension bundles. It provides the full PBX feature set plus unlimited ACD groups, auto attendants, and SIP trunks. Choose it when queueing and trunk scale are central; the fixed bundle sizes still require matching capacity carefully.

Usage-based licensing

This postpaid, multi-tenant option is billed monthly according to the number and type of extensions used during the previous month. It has no predefined extension limit and includes the full PBX feature set, making it the natural fit for service providers whose tenant or extension counts change. It is less predictable than prepaid bundles for buyers that need a fixed recurring commitment.

Teams SBC Licensing

This prepaid license is for Microsoft Teams external PSTN calling through the Vodia SBC. It supplies SBC functionality only, with no PBX extensions or PBX features, so it is not a substitute for a full Vodia deployment.

Platforms

Vodia supports Android, iOS, Linux, macOS, Windows, web access, APIs, and self-hosted installations. Its browser client and native desktop and mobile apps suit mixed-device teams, while cloud, on-premise, and hybrid options give IT departments control over hosting and operating environment.

Who it's for

Service providers and partners building hosted, multi-tenant platforms are the clearest audience, particularly where postpaid usage-based licensing and unlimited extension capacity are useful. Businesses deploying a dedicated PBX should consider the prepaid plans when they need advanced routing, multiple numbers, or integrated call-center processes. A small office with one trunk and no queueing may find Standard sufficient, but a simple hosted phone subscription may be easier to budget.

Pros and cons

Pros

Cloud, on-premise, and hybrid deployment supports organizations with different infrastructure policies.
Call-center tools cover agent groups, service levels, callbacks, and outbound lists, not just basic queues.
Usage-based licensing has no predefined extension limit for multi-tenant operators.
Encryption options, intrusion detection, browser access, and native apps address security and device variety.
AI voice-agent integrations and connections to major CRM and business platforms can extend the PBX.

Cons

Prepaid plans cap capacity in bundles of 5 to 1,000 extensions, which can create a poor fit at unusual sizes.
Standard omits ACD groups and limits customers to one attendant and one SIP trunk.
Pro allows only two ACD groups, so extensive call-center deployments require Enterprise.
Usage-based monthly billing varies with extension use, making costs less predictable.
Teams SBC Licensing excludes PBX extensions and features, limiting it to Teams PSTN connectivity.

Alternatives

Browse Business Phone Systems for a wider category comparison. Choose Microsoft Teams instead if you want a freemium collaboration platform with a free plan, meetings, and broad desktop and mobile coverage. VitalPBX is an alternative freemium PBX with a free Community plan for up to 12 extensions. Talkroute suits buyers seeking a paid virtual phone service with small user, number, mailbox, and texting quotas. 3CX offers a free 10-user, four-simultaneous-call edition alongside paid licensing. Freshcaller is a freemium option with pay-per-minute calling and an agent-oriented free tier. CallHippo provides a free introductory period and paid tiers. PortSIP PBX has a free edition with limits on simultaneous calls and extensions. Zoho Voice is a freemium phone service with per-user plans.

Verdict

Choose Vodia PBX when you need a configurable SIP platform, serious call-center controls, and a choice of hosted, on-premise, or hybrid deployment. Its strongest case is for service providers and businesses that can align extension bundles or usage billing with their operating model. Look elsewhere if you want transparent published pricing, a very small fixed setup, or a simpler subscription without plan-level feature and capacity decisions.
