Overview

Connecteam is a workforce management platform for employers coordinating deskless staff across scheduling, operations, communications and HR. It suits businesses that want those functions in one system, especially teams with fewer than 10 employees that qualify for its free Small Business Plan. Its broad hub-based toolkit is a stronger fit than a standalone scheduler, but the app requires an internet connection.

Key features

Operations and scheduling

The Operations Hub combines a time clock and job scheduling with forms and quick tasks. Auto-scheduling, availability collection, time-off management, open shifts and shift swaps address common coverage changes; putting these alongside operational tools can reduce the need to separate scheduling from daily coordination. Teams that only need a rota may find the wider platform more than they need.

Communications and HR

The Communications Hub brings together chat, updates, a directory, surveys, events, a knowledge base and a help desk. That range is useful when staff need both routine announcements and a shared place for questions. The HR & Skills Hub adds time off, courses, quizzes, documents, recognition, rewards, hiring, onboarding and an org chart, extending the product beyond day-to-day scheduling into employee administration and training.

Integrations, security and connectivity

Listed integrations include ADP Workforce Now, Gusto, QuickBooks Online, Xero, Bamboo HR, Lightspeed Restaurant K series, Square and Wix. Connecteam also describes API keys, Zapier API-key authentication, webhooks and OAuth 2.0 for integrations and data transfer. It says it complies with GDPR, ISO/IEC 27001, SOC 2 and CCPA, and that its data centers are in Germany (AWS) and the Netherlands (MS Azure). The app is optimized for smartphones and desktop computers, but it cannot currently be used offline. That internet requirement matters for teams working where connectivity is unreliable.

Pricing

Connecteam has a free plan and a 14-day trial without a credit card. Businesses with fewer than 10 employees can use the free Small Business Plan; the Limited plan is free with limited feature access. That makes it a practical starting point for small teams, but not a basis for assuming full access to the paid hubs.

Hub Basic plans cost $29/mo, billed yearly, for the first 30 users. Operations Hub Basic charges $0.8/month for each additional user; HR & Skills Hub Basic and Communications Hub Basic each charge $0.5/month for each additional user. These are hub-specific entry plans, so the right one depends on whether the priority is operations, HR and skills, or communications.

Basic is $35.00 per month, Advanced is $59.00 per month, and Expert is $119.00 per month, each billed for the first 30 users with 30 users included. Enterprise has custom pricing and includes single sign-on and increased API rate limits. The 30-user starting allowance is important for larger teams, while the listed hub prices explicitly charge extra users separately. A 14-day trial gives prospective buyers a short window to assess fit before choosing a paid plan.

Platforms

Connecteam supports Android, iOS, web and API, with mobile apps available. Android devices need version 6.0 or later and iOS devices need version 15.5 or later. The lack of offline use is the key practical constraint for field teams.

Who it's for

Connecteam is best suited to deskless-workforce employers that want scheduling, timekeeping, staff communication and HR or training tools under one roof. Small businesses below the free-plan employee threshold can start without a subscription, while teams needing a specific hub can begin with its Basic plan. It is less compelling for a business seeking only shift scheduling or for employees who must use the app without an internet connection.

Pros and cons

Pros: Operations, communications and HR tools are grouped in one platform, covering work from shift coordination to training.
Pros: Scheduling includes auto-scheduling, availability collection, open shifts and shift swaps, giving managers several ways to handle changing coverage.
Pros: A free Small Business Plan is available to businesses with fewer than 10 employees, and the trial does not require a credit card.
Cons: The app cannot be used offline, which rules it out for teams that need dependable access without internet.
Cons: Hub Basic prices are billed yearly, and additional users incur per-user monthly charges beyond the first 30.
Cons: The breadth may be unnecessary for employers who only want a shift planner.

Alternatives

For a narrower scheduling need, Employee Scheduling Software is a useful category to compare. For attendance-focused choices, see Time and Attendance Software or Attendance Tracking Software; gyms can compare options in Gym Staff Scheduling Software, while directory needs point to Employee Directory Software.

TNC Track is another freemium option with Android, iOS and web apps; its Team & Attendance module is free forever, with 5 free seats and $5/seat after that. ShiftCal offers a free plan for 5 people at 1 site, with no card required and cancellation at any time. Sling may suit teams wanting a free plan for up to 30 users with shift scheduling, time-off requests, available shifts, news sharing, long-term scheduling and private messaging. Rosie has a free plan for up to 15 people at one site, with rosters, shift templates and auto-fill. Shifton offers a free-forever basic-functions plan for up to 10 team members. Cicini is a web-only alternative with a free plan for one team member and 30 bookings per month. Emplora has a free plan for one location and up to 15 employees, with schedules, shifts and team management. Homebase is an alternative with paid task- and tip-management add-ons.

Verdict

Choose Connecteam if you manage deskless employees and want scheduling, operational coordination, communications and HR capabilities in one platform, with a free starting point for businesses under 10 employees. Look elsewhere if offline access is essential or your needs are limited to shift scheduling.
