Overview

GoDaddy POS combines Smart Terminal hardware with software for in-person selling and business management. It is a strong fit for sellers who want one catalog across counter, handheld, and online channels, especially those already using GoDaddy’s Online Store. The 10-product free-plan cap is restrictive for a growing range, and the fuller inventory tools sit behind an annual plan.

Key features

Checkout includes product search, favorites, preset taxes and discounts, refunds, preset tips, and printed, text, or email receipts. It accepts major credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, HSA, and FSA, with split payments and pre-authorizations. That breadth suits varied in-person transactions; however, the Smart Terminal Pro needs a separate printer for printed receipts, so sellers should factor that into a counter setup or use digital receipts.

The catalog supports images, variants, modifiers, barcodes, bulk uploads and edits, and AI-assisted product descriptions. These tools are useful for maintaining a detailed range without handling every item as a one-off entry. Dashboards report sales by SKU or date range, and a beta voice-and-chat AI assistant can help create catalogs and retrieve business insights. Because the assistant is in beta, it is an additional convenience rather than a sound basis for choosing the system.

Point of Sale Plus adds terminal stock counts and low- or out-of-stock alerts, with inventory syncing in real time across mobile, online, and terminal channels. GoDaddy says POS can sync with its Online Store and support Amazon, Etsy, eBay, social selling, and online ordering for in-store pickup. That makes it more compelling for merchants coordinating several sales routes than for shops that only need a standalone register. The App Center also offers extensions for accounting, bookkeeping, loyalty programs, reservations, and gift cards.

GoDaddy says its Trust Center covers encrypted checkout and payment-card monitoring, with tools to help businesses meet PCI DSS requirements. Expert guides are available 24/7, and the POS page provides phone assistance at 1-480-366-3546. Those support and security resources are useful for merchants who want assistance around payment operations, though they do not remove the need to choose appropriate hardware and plan features.

Pricing

The free plan is free and allows up to 10 products. It is a sensible way to start with a small catalog, but the product ceiling makes it a poor long-term fit once a business carries a broader range.

Point of Sale Plus costs 28.99 USD per month, billed with an annual plan, at $28.99/mo per store. It includes unlimited POS products, inventory stock alerts, online ordering for in-store pickup, and employee roles and permissions. Sellers who need those inventory and staffing tools will find it the practical software tier; the annual billing term is a commitment compared with the free option. GoDaddy lists in-person processing at 2.3% + 0¢ with Point of Sale Plus, and optional Rate Saver can surcharge credit-card transactions.

Terminal hardware is a separate one-time purchase: Smart Terminal Flex is 275.00 USD per once for handheld selling and extended battery life; Smart Terminal Duo is 399.00 USD per once for dual-screen countertop selling; and Smart Terminal Pro is 499.00 USD per once, with a 10-inch swivel display for larger catalogs and complex orders. Choose by selling setup rather than assuming one terminal suits every counter: the Pro also needs a separate printer for printed receipts. The pricing note includes a 30-day trial, but no trial terms are given.

Platforms

GoDaddy POS supports Android, iOS, and web. Its proprietary hardware approach pairs the software with Smart Terminals, so businesses seeking a broad choice of third-party POS hardware may prefer a different system.

Who it's for

GoDaddy POS is best for merchants who want to manage in-person checkout alongside online sales and need a catalog that can grow beyond a small starter range. The Duo targets countertop selling, the Flex handheld selling, and the Pro larger catalogs or complex orders. A very small seller may be comfortable with the free tier; a merchant who needs unlimited products, stock alerts, pickup ordering, or employee permissions needs Point of Sale Plus.

Pros and cons

Pro: Real-time inventory syncing across mobile, online, and terminal channels helps merchants keep stock aligned across selling routes.
Pro: Catalog tools include variants, modifiers, barcodes, and bulk edits, which suit retailers with more than a basic list of products.
Pro: Three terminal formats address distinct countertop, handheld, and complex-order setups.
Con: The free plan stops at 10 products, limiting its usefulness for stores with a substantial catalog.
Con: Point of Sale Plus is billed annually, even though its price is expressed monthly.
Con: The Pro requires an additional printer for printed receipts, adding a separate hardware consideration.

Alternatives

Point-of-Sale Software is the broader category directory for comparing other POS options. Choose Loyverse if a free POS plan with 31 days of sales history is a better fit, or pay 5.00 USD per month for unlimited sales history. Imonggo may suit a very small operation that can work within its free plan’s one user, one branch, 30 products, and 300 invoices per month. Biyo POS is another freemium option, with a free Premium + Processing plan for US businesses or a Standard plan at 47.00 USD per month.

GoFrugal Retail is a paid retail option with a free trial and Starter, Standard, and Professional plans; consider it when you want to compare a separate retail-focused product. POSfix may work for a smaller operation willing to use its free tier of 50 products, two cashiers, 30 e-invoices per month, and two team members. Shopify is an alternative for a web-only platform with paid plans and a free trial. RetailPOS is worth considering if free, open-source, self-hosted software with no monthly fees is the priority. SalesPlay POS offers a web-based freemium option with point of sale, back office, inventory management, and multi-store management.

Verdict

Choose GoDaddy POS if your business needs Smart Terminal checkout plus a catalog and inventory that stay coordinated across in-store and online channels. Its range of terminal formats and Point of Sale Plus stock tools are the strongest reasons to select it. Look elsewhere if you need more than 10 products without taking an annual plan, want a broader hardware choice, or do not need GoDaddy’s connected selling tools.
