Overview

Contractbook is a cloud-based contract lifecycle platform for teams that want to manage agreements beyond signing. It is best suited to companies with 11–1,000 employees that need shared review, a searchable repository, and follow-up tracking. Its workflow breadth is a strong draw, but the annual-billed plans with published prices carry meaningful costs and contract quotas worth checking against expected use.

Teams can pre-fill drafts from a CRM, forms, or other tools, then work through approvals, suggestions, comments, and version history. After signing, contracts can be centralized, searched, and managed with permissions; contract data can also trigger deadline and renewal reminders or post-signature tasks. External recipients can open and sign documents without a Contractbook account, which avoids adding an account-creation step for counterparties.

Key features

Drafting and collaboration: Pre-approved templates and pre-filled drafts can cut repetitive preparation. Approval workflows, comments, suggestions, and version history support coordinated review, though Essential's five-template allowance may constrain teams with varied document types.
Signatures: Legally binding electronic signatures support signing order, identity verification, and two-factor signing. That gives teams controls for more involved signing flows, while account-free recipient access keeps the external process simpler.
Repository and follow-up: Existing agreements can be bulk-imported, scanned, data-extracted, organized, searched, and permission-managed. Deadline and renewal reminders plus customizable post-signature tasks help turn stored contract data into follow-up work rather than a passive archive.
Connections and security: Contractbook advertises more than 3,000 integrations, including Salesforce, HubSpot, Pipedrive, Google Calendar, Slack, Zapier, and Make.com, alongside API access. It states that it is SOC 2 and GDPR compliant and has completed Google Partner Security Program assessments; its controls include SHA-256 RSA SSL encryption, encrypted password and token storage, verified email and phone accounts, two-factor signatures, and regular black-box penetration testing.

Pricing

Contractbook uses a freemium model, with a free plan and a 14-day trial. The trial costs 0.00 USD per free, requires no credit card, and opens all features for 14 days; afterward, access is limited to the Free plan. That is a useful way to assess the full workflow, but it is not a long-term substitute for a paid tier.

Essential: Custom pricing; 1 user, 100 signed contracts per year, and 5 templates. It is the smallest stated team setup, but the annual signing cap and single seat make it a narrow fit.
Centralize: 399.00 USD per month, billed annually; 5 users, 15 templates, and 350 signed contracts per year, plus AI data extraction, CSV export, and .docx download. This suits a small group that needs structured repository work and export options, though its signature quota may be limiting for higher-volume use.
Accelerate: Custom pricing; 10 users, 25 templates, and 500 signed contracts per year. It raises team capacity over Centralize, but the undisclosed price makes a cost comparison essential before choosing it.
Growth: 599.00 USD per month, billed annually; unlimited users and contracts, conditional templates, automations, SSO, and a dedicated success manager. It is the clearest fit for organizations needing scale and administrative controls, but its annual commitment and higher monthly price are substantial.
Custom: Custom pricing for a tailored setup, initial setup consultancy, and 1:1 Customer Success Manager support. This is for organizations needing guided implementation rather than a standard configuration.

All plans include live chat, email, and phone support; some plans also include a dedicated success manager. Before committing, teams should match seats and annual contract caps to their workflow, particularly since the paid prices shown are billed annually.

Platforms

Contractbook is a cloud service with web and API platforms. Its browser-based review workflow keeps contract work in a web browser, while API access and advertised integrations provide routes to connect other systems. It is not presented as a self-hosted option.

Who it's for

Contractbook is a good candidate for mid-sized companies and larger teams that want drafting, review, e-signatures, storage, and renewal follow-up in one system. It is less compelling for a single user or a team with modest needs if the one-seat allowance and 100 annual signatures on Essential are too restrictive, or if annual-billed paid pricing outweighs the value of consolidating those steps.

Pros and cons

Pro: The workflow spans drafting through post-signature tasks, so teams can keep review, signature, repository, and renewal work connected.
Pro: Account-free signing for recipients reduces friction when working with external parties.
Pro: The trial provides all features for 14 days without a credit card, giving teams a full-feature evaluation window before falling back to the limited Free plan.
Con: Essential's one user, five templates, and 100 signed contracts per year leave little room for a growing or cross-functional team.
Con: Centralize is 399.00 USD per month and Growth is 599.00 USD per month, both billed annually, so the commitment can be hard to justify for teams that only need signatures or light tracking.
Con: Essential, Accelerate, and Custom use custom pricing, which prevents direct price comparison before contacting the provider.

Alternatives

For a different balance of team size, price, or deployment, consider OpenCLM, Legito, Zoho Contracts, fynk, Trackado, Oneflow, Docusign CLM, and Volody CLM.

OpenCLM: Choose it if self-hosting is important or you need a free option with unlimited contracts; its Free plan is limited to one user and five e-signatures per month.
Legito: Consider it for a free plan that explicitly includes customizable workflows and approvals with electronic signatures, or a Starter plan at 6.90 EUR per month.
Zoho Contracts: Its free plan may fit a very small operation needing three users, 10 contracts, five counterparties, one approval workflow, and two built-in templates.
fynk: Its free plan is aimed at individuals and freelancers, with one user and 50 AI credits per user per month.
Trackado: Its Free plan offers one user, 15 contracts, and two custom fields; that suits a smaller tracked portfolio better than Contractbook's broader workflow needs.
Oneflow: Choose it if unlimited PDF contracts on a free plan matter most; its Business and Enterprise plans have minimums of five and 10 users, respectively.
Docusign CLM: Consider it if you want to compare another paid contract lifecycle option, with pricing handled through sales.
Volody CLM: Consider it for customized pricing based on users, contract volume, features, and deployment, with a free trial available by contacting the provider.

Verdict

Contractbook is a strong fit for organizations that need one connected process for creating, reviewing, signing, storing, and tracking contracts, especially when account-free recipient signing and integrations matter. Choose it for workflow breadth and follow-up controls; look elsewhere if your needs are limited to basic signing, if Essential's caps are too tight, or if the annual-billed paid tiers do not fit your budget.
