Overview

CoSMOS is a self-service tool from Cheat Happens, a company formed in 2001, for players who want to modify games while waiting for trainers. Its three versions cover different needs: PC Beginner, PC Advanced, and a native Steam Deck application. That breadth gives newcomers a starting point without limiting experienced users to basic scanning, but the versions are tailored to different platforms and levels of complexity.

It can read and import 99% of Cheat Engine tables, which makes it a practical option for people bringing existing tables with them. Hardware-accelerated scans are another useful capability for searching game memory. Cheat Happens advises using cheats and trainers offline only and says it does not make cheats for online or multiplayer games, so CoSMOS is not a choice for networked play.

Key features

Tools for newcomers and advanced users

PC CoSMOS Beginner is integrated into Cheat Happens Aurora software, making it the entry point for users who want a beginner-oriented version. PC CoSMOS Advanced is a substantially broader toolkit: it includes a memory scanner, VEH debugger, script engine and editor, disassembler, dump viewer, speedhack, .NET assembly explorer, reference search, and process viewers. That range supports users who want to build and share cheat scripts, but it is more than a beginner needs. The Advanced page lists version 6.1.5.

Steam Deck support

The Steam Deck edition is a native application that works with Linux and Steam Deck. Its simplified memory scanner lowers the barrier to getting started, while the built-in disassembler adds a more advanced tool. It is the clearest fit for Steam Deck users who want game-memory editing without turning to the PC versions.

Privacy and support

CoSMOS checks routinely for new versions without sending personal information. Feedback and crash-log submission are optional and may include personal information, so users should consider that before sending them. Cheat Happens offers free technical support through the CoSMOS message board.

Pricing

CoSMOS is free. The free plan is billed 100% FREE, requires no registration, locks no features, and includes no adware or hidden software. There is no paid tier to weigh against the free version, and no registration requirement makes it easy to try. The choice is instead about which edition fits: Beginner for a simpler PC route, Advanced for deeper debugging and scripting, or the native Steam Deck version.

Platforms

CoSMOS is offered for Windows and Linux. The Steam Deck version is native and works with Linux and Steam Deck; PC CoSMOS Beginner and Advanced are the PC editions. Its debugger and scripting support, along with support for both 32-bit and 64-bit architecture, make it more than a basic memory scanner.

Who it's for

CoSMOS suits players who want to experiment with their own games offline, whether they are starting with a simplified scanner or progressing to advanced scripting and debugging. Existing Cheat Engine table users may also value its broad table-import compatibility. It is not suitable for players seeking cheats for online or multiplayer games.

Pros and cons

Pros: The free plan has no registration requirement, feature locks, adware, or hidden software, making the full offering accessible without a paid upgrade.
Pros: Cheat Engine table compatibility and hardware-accelerated scans are useful for players moving existing work or searching memory.
