Overview

Snow work involves more than dispatch: contractors also need to document events, estimate materials, and bill customers according to the agreement. CrewNest brings those jobs into one system, with records and billing options tailored to snow service. It describes itself as an early-stage product, a point worth weighing if your operation depends on a mature, established platform.

CrewNest supports Android, iOS, and web. Its phone access is a Progressive Web App that works on iPhone and Android without an app-store download. The company is headquartered in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. For more options, see our Snow Removal Software guide.

Key features

Service records and weather context

Event logs capture timestamps, accumulation totals, and service notes, while weather data and accumulation notes can be attached to jobs. Keeping those details with the job gives contractors a more auditable service history than billing records alone, which can matter when reviewing what work was performed.

Materials and dispatch

Salt and deicer calculators estimate material needs using surface area and conditions. Map-based dispatch assigns crews to routes and zones, bringing planning and material estimation into the same workflow. These tools suit operators coordinating snow work across multiple properties; the free plan's single user, however, prevents a team from sharing that account as it grows.

Billing and contracts

CrewNest supports per-push, per-visit, per-inch, and seasonal flat-rate invoicing. Seasonal contracts can use fixed monthly or per-event pricing, with invoices generated from contract terms after events. That range fits contractors serving customers with different billing arrangements, while the contract-linked invoicing can reduce the need to translate each event into a bill manually.

Pricing

CrewNest is freemium, with a free plan and a 14-day trial. The paid plan is $29.99 USD per month; the entry-level plan is free forever.

Plan	Price	What it includes
Free Forever	0.00 USD per month	Up to 3 estimates and 10 satellite measurements per month, 50 SMS messages per month, 1 user, customer management, job scheduling, basic invoicing, and offline mode (PWA).
Pro Plan	29.99 USD per month	Unlimited estimates, invoices, and satellite measurements; customer booking portal; unlimited SMS in the US and Canada; route optimization; advanced analytics; unlimited team members.

Free Forever is a sensible fit for a solo operator with modest monthly quoting and messaging needs. Three estimates, ten satellite measurements, and 50 SMS messages can become constraints during a busy season, and the one-user cap rules it out for shared crew access. Pro removes those caps and adds route optimization, analytics, and team access, making it the more practical choice for an expanding operation. Its price is materially higher than free, so operators who do not need those added capacities may have little reason to upgrade.

Platforms

CrewNest runs on Android, iOS, and web. The PWA approach avoids an app-store download for phone access, while offline mode is included with Free Forever.

Who it's for

CrewNest is best suited to snow-removal businesses that want event documentation, route dispatch, and flexible invoicing in a field-service system. Its broader focus also covers pressure washing and lawn care. A solo contractor can start on the free plan, while a business that needs several users, more estimates, or more messaging will need Pro. Companies seeking a mature platform should consider its early-stage positioning before committing.

Pros and cons

Snow-specific documentation: Event timestamps, accumulation totals, service notes, and weather context keep a record tied to each job.
Flexible snow billing: Per-push, per-visit, per-inch, and seasonal options accommodate different customer agreements.
Useful free starting point: Scheduling, customer management, basic invoicing, and offline PWA mode are included at no charge.
Restrictive free limits: One user, three estimates, ten satellite measurements, and 50 SMS messages per month limit how far a small operation can grow without upgrading.
Pro is required for team scale: Unlimited team members, estimates, and SMS sit behind the $29.99 USD monthly plan.

Alternatives

Choose Lawn Snow App if its free Starter plan's no monthly software fee and $2.90 internal cost per paid service stop better suit your payment model. Snow Removal CRM by ServeHub may fit operators who want a free plan with unlimited team members, contracts, jobs, invoices, one-tap card payments, and an AI website build. Plowdesk is another free option, with unlimited users and customers, up to three storm routes, manual customer notifications, and Venmo payment tracking on its Operator plan. Consider RouteStacker if unlimited customers, jobs, and team members are more important than CrewNest's snow event documentation and contract billing; its payment model carries a flat 5% platform fee plus standard card and ACH processing fees. Wintertrace is a free alternative. Autopilot is a paid alternative with a $49.00 USD monthly Run plan for one user, scheduling, jobs and dispatch, estimates with online approval, invoicing, and Tap to Pay. Icey may suit operators who need up to 15 active sites and five operator seats on its free plan, with unlimited admin and office users and clients. FieldBased is a paid alternative with a $29.00 USD monthly Starter plan for one user, 1,000 emails per month, and a 1% card fee.

Verdict

CrewNest is a good fit for snow contractors who want job documentation, dispatch, and several billing models in one field-service system. Its free plan gives a solo operator a practical way to begin, but the monthly quotas and one-user ceiling are real constraints; growing teams will need Pro at $29.99 USD per month. Look elsewhere if your priority is a mature platform or a free plan that supports shared team use.
