Overview

Docyt brings accounting, payment workflows and business intelligence into one cloud ERP for businesses with operational finances to coordinate. It is strongest for hotels, restaurants, retailers and franchises; accounting firms and BPOs are also among its intended users. Its broad workflow coverage is useful when those jobs need to connect, but may be more than a single-location business seeking basic bookkeeping needs.

Connections to point-of-sale and business management systems bring revenue, customer and transaction data into Docyt, with integrations spanning hospitality, retail, restaurants, SaaS, ERP and accounting. The service runs on the web, Android and iOS. Its mobile app handles expense management, transaction categorization, revenue tracking and financial reports, and its free version includes in-app chat, document sharing and storage.

Key features

Accounting and close

Docyt automates revenue matching, ongoing bank and card reconciliation, and month-end close on its own ledger. Journal-entry automation and close task management extend its reach beyond transaction categorization. This is a meaningful fit for teams handling recurring reconciliations or several books; businesses that do not need a dedicated close workflow may not benefit as much.

Payments and business intelligence

The payments suite brings bill pay, corporate cards, receivables, vendor management and budget controls together. For businesses managing spending and collections alongside accounting, that breadth can reduce the need to split these workflows across tools. Daily flash reports, USALI reporting, budgeting, forecasting and scenario planning give operators a view beyond historic bookkeeping, with USALI reporting particularly relevant to hotel operations.

Controls and data

Docyt says it maintains SOC 2 Type II controls with an annual independent audit, encrypts data at rest using AES-256 and in transit with TLS, and does not use customer data to train models for other companies or send it to public models for training. Its audit trail logs reads and writes, records corrections as new entries, and pairs AI decisions with an explanation and reviewer. These controls are useful for businesses that need traceability around automated accounting. Scheduled open-format exports and API access are available to enterprise customers, a relevant distinction for buyers who require those exit and integration options.

Pricing

Docyt is freemium, with a free plan, paid plans from $99/mo, and a 7-day trial on Profitbooks.

Accountant Copilot: $0 /entity/mo, free forever. It includes AI categorization, bank and card reconciliation, month-end close automation and QuickBooks Online integration. This is the lowest-risk option for firms that need those accounting workflows, but it does not promise the broader paid-suite modules.
Profitbooks: $99 /entity/mo, month-to-month with cancellation anytime and a 7-day free trial. Aimed at small businesses, it is the entry paid tier. Add-on modules cost $50/entity/month each, so businesses needing several capabilities should account for that on top of the base price.
Enterprise Suite: From $299 /entity/mo, billed annually, with tier pricing by hotel size. It includes the accounting suite and is aimed at hotels and restaurants. The annual commitment and entity-based starting price matter for buyers comparing costs across properties.
Custom Suite: Custom pricing and contracts for multi-location portfolios, with volume pricing, a dedicated implementation team, priority SLA support and custom integrations. This is the option for larger portfolios that need tailored deployment rather than a fixed per-entity tier.

Docyt defines an entity as one legal business or location with its own books, such as a restaurant, hotel property or retail store. That definition can multiply costs for operators with many separately booked locations, so confirm how it maps to the business structure before choosing a tier.

Platforms

Docyt is available on Android, iOS and the web, and is deployed in the cloud. The combination suits teams that need mobile expense and revenue workflows alongside browser-based accounting and reporting.

Who it's for

Docyt is a better fit for hospitality, restaurant, retail and franchise operators that want reconciliation, payment controls and operational reporting connected to their business systems. Its free Accountant Copilot plan also gives accounting firms a way to use core close and reconciliation capabilities. A small business that only needs straightforward bookkeeping, or a buyer unwilling to price software by entity, should compare narrower options.

Pros and cons

Pros: Accounting, payments and business intelligence sit in one suite, which can connect workflows that otherwise require separate systems.
Pros: The free Accountant Copilot plan includes reconciliation and close automation plus QuickBooks Online integration, making core accounting workflows accessible without a subscription.
Pros: Audit logging, explained AI decisions and stated model-training restrictions provide useful governance for teams scrutinizing automated financial work.
Cons: Profitbooks charges $50/entity/month for each add-on module, which can raise the cost beyond its $99 /entity/mo base.
Cons: Enterprise Suite is billed annually, and the per-entity definition means separate properties or legal books can affect total spend.
Cons: Scheduled exports in open formats and API access are available to enterprise customers, limiting those capabilities for buyers on lower tiers.

Alternatives

AccelClose is worth considering when close management is the main need and a hard cap is preferable: its free plan covers up to 100 records and one entity, with manual journal entries and Excel/CSV export, but no AI autofill or live ERP sync.

WISO Business is an alternative for buyers focused on invoicing: its free plan includes unlimited classic and electronic invoices, receipt scanning, a digital archive and online payments in invoices.

Digits may suit solopreneurs or early-stage businesses comparing a focused accounting option; its Essentials plan is $65.00 USD per month and includes custom reports and dashboards for firm partners.

Double is another option for internal finance teams seeking an annual flat-rate platform with unlimited users and dedicated onboarding.

CloseCore is a closer fit when the priority is close management: its Close Management plan is $187.50 USD per month, billed annually, and includes a close checklist, documents, reconciliations, file-based trial-balance reconciliations and direct ERP integration.

Arvexi is another paid alternative.

Concourse is another freemium web-based alternative.

Finlens is a lower-cost option for accounting needs within defined spending limits: its AI Accounting plan is $49 /month for up to $100k/month in expenses and up to three bank accounts, with unlimited users and Slack support.

Verdict

Docyt is a strong choice for hospitality, restaurant, retail and franchise operators that want accounting, payment operations and financial intelligence in one cloud system. Its free accounting plan lowers the barrier to trying reconciliation and close automation, while the paid tiers extend into a wider operating suite. The main reason to look elsewhere is the per-entity pricing structure, especially when add-ons or multiple separately booked locations are involved.
