Overview

Doxillion Document Converter is a desktop app for converting documents between formats such as DOCX, PDF, ODT, RTF, EPUB and MOBI. It suits people handling large file batches or scanned documents on Windows or macOS. Its range of conversion and PDF tools is useful, but PDF-to-Word has clear limits and there is no cloud conversion.

Key features

Doxillion supports more than 100 formats, although some conversions are Windows-only and spreadsheet exports are limited to tables. That breadth can make it a useful general-purpose tool, but users with a specific format pair or spreadsheet workflow should confirm compatibility before committing.

Batch conversion can process thousands of files at once, a substantial convenience for document archives and recurring bulk jobs. Files can be added by drag and drop or converted from outside the app through the right-click menu. The maker says the software preserves fonts, layouts, styles and image placement; that is valuable when converted files need to remain presentable, though the claim does not remove the need to check important documents.

Built-in OCR converts scanned PDFs or TIFFs into editable text. Separate PDF tools merge files, compress them and update metadata such as author, description and keywords. PDF-to-Word is narrower: it handles text in simple PDFs, ignores images and cannot convert scanned documents. Users should treat OCR as the path for scanned material, not assume the PDF-to-Word feature covers it.

Support includes video tutorials, manuals, support pages and a technical-support contact link. Conversion is local desktop work rather than a cloud or API workflow, so it is a better fit for individual or office use than for automated services.

Pricing

The free version is free and is restricted to non-commercial use, with fewer formats for home use. It can suit occasional personal conversion, but the reduced format selection and non-commercial condition rule it out for business work.

For commercial use, Plus and Business quarterly plans each cost 8.31 USD per month, billed quarterly (3 months), and continue until canceled. Both include professional features and all upgrades under a commercial license; Business specifies unlimited use of all professional features. The annual commercial Plus plan costs 34.99 USD per year, billed annually and debited every 12 months until canceled, with unlimited use and upgrades. It is the lower-cost annual commercial choice if Plus's stated scope is sufficient.

For personal, home or other non-profit use, the Plus annual plan costs 29.99 USD per year, billed every 12 months until canceled, with unlimited use. The paid plans make the commercial-use distinction explicit; buyers should choose the license that matches how they will use the software.

Platforms

Doxillion has Windows and macOS downloads. Its PDF page specifies Windows 7 to 11 and macOS 10.5 or later. It does not offer cloud conversion or API access, so teams needing browser-based processing or programmatic integration should look elsewhere.

Who it's for

Doxillion is strongest for home users and office teams converting many documents, especially when batch processing, OCR or basic PDF maintenance matters. The free edition is limited to non-commercial use; commercial plans cover business work. It is less suitable for spreadsheet conversion beyond tables, image-rich or scanned PDF-to-Word jobs, and cloud or API workflows.

Pros and cons

Pros: Batch handling for thousands of files makes large conversions practical.
Pros: OCR, PDF merging, compression and metadata editing add useful document tools alongside format conversion.
Pros: Drag-and-drop and right-click conversion offer two straightforward ways to start a job.
Cons: PDF-to-Word skips images and scanned documents, limiting its usefulness for complex or scanned PDFs.
Cons: Some conversions are Windows-only, and spreadsheet exports are limited to tables.
Cons: No cloud conversion or API access leaves automated and remote workflows unsupported.

Alternatives

Browse File Conversion Software for more options. Choose GrabzIt when its broader platform availability, including web and API options, is a better match. MConverter has a free plan capped at 15 files per day, eight at once and 100 MB per file, making those limits relevant for occasional conversions. Prism Video Converter is another option for video conversion. FreeConvert GIF Maker is oriented to GIF conversion, with its free plan limited to 20 conversion minutes per day and five minutes per file. Zamzar API is worth considering when an API is required; its free Test plan includes 100 credits, a 1 MB maximum file size and one-day file storage. Freemake Video Converter is an alternative for video conversion, with a free core feature set that does not expire. HandBrake is a free option for users seeking video conversion. Any Video Converter is another video-focused alternative with a free plan.

Verdict

Choose Doxillion if you need a desktop document converter that can process large batches, recognize scanned text and handle basic PDF tasks, with a license for either personal or commercial use. Look elsewhere if scanned PDFs must convert directly to Word with images intact, if spreadsheet exports need more than tables, or if your workflow depends on cloud conversion or an API.
