Overview

Businesses can build programs around stamps, points, discounts, and other incentives. Customers can earn and redeem rewards on their phones without downloading an app, and save loyalty cards to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. That avoids an installation hurdle, though businesses looking for a dedicated customer app will not find one in meed.

Receipt rewards let customers scan receipts in the meed web app; AI reads and verifies them before adding stamps to a digital card. Meed says this works without POS integration, which is useful for businesses that want purchase-based rewards without connecting their checkout system. For visit-based programs, customers can scan a QR code or tap NFC on arrival to earn a stamp without staff interaction or an extra device. Businesses that require POS integration should look elsewhere.

Key features

Reward mechanics and operations

Businesses can configure 10- or 20-stamp cards and place milestone rewards at selected points. Those rewards are added automatically to a customer's Apple or Google Wallet card. This gives operators control over when customers reach a reward, while keeping redemption tied to a digital card.

The business portal handles programs, memberships, venue performance, campaigns, and analytics on rewards earned and redeemed. Operators can also use the meed for Business app to issue stamps and confirm reward redemptions. Together, these tools cover routine program administration and redemption, rather than just card creation. Automated campaigns are supported, and the platform also offers a referral program.

Privacy approach

Meed's anonymised loyalty feature separates customer activity data from personal identity. Businesses can examine behavioral patterns without seeing customer identity, a useful option for operators who want to understand engagement while limiting access to identifying information.

Pricing

The Free plan is free and requires no credit card. It allows up to 50 members, with no hardware and no customer app. That is a sensible way for a small business to start a program, but the cap is a hard growth constraint: new members who join after it is reached remain pending until the business upgrades.

Pro costs 59.00 USD per month and includes unlimited members and two locations. Each additional location costs $39 per month. The plan is the practical step up for businesses that have outgrown the free member cap or operate across multiple venues; the second included location makes it more suitable for small multi-site operators than a single-location-only plan.

Meed also gives annual Pro billing as $590/year, alongside monthly billing at $59/month. Businesses should compare the billing term with their expected usage before committing. The paid plan's unlimited members remove the free tier's central ceiling, but additional locations still carry a recurring charge.

Platforms

Meed is available on Android, iOS, and the web. Customers can use the web app to scan receipts, while loyalty cards can be stored in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. Operators can use the business app through the App Store or Google Play, alongside the business portal.

Who it's for

Meed is aimed at cafés, gyms, salons, bars, clinics, and shops, particularly those that want stamp-based rewards for visits or purchases without installing a POS integration. Its QR and NFC check-ins fit repeat-visit businesses, while receipt scanning offers a route for purchase rewards. A business that depends on POS-connected loyalty or needs more than 50 members without paying should consider another option or budget for Pro.

Pros and cons

Pros

Multiple earning routes—receipt scans, QR or NFC check-ins, and operator-issued stamps—let businesses match rewards to purchases or visits.
Apple Wallet and Google Wallet support gives customers a way to keep loyalty cards on their phones without installing a customer app.
The Pro plan includes unlimited members and two locations, making it a clear upgrade path for businesses that pass the free tier's cap.
Anonymised activity data lets businesses view behavioral patterns without seeing customer identity.

Cons

The Free plan's 50-member ceiling can block new joins; pending members wait until the business upgrades.
Meed has no POS integration, so it does not suit businesses that need loyalty activity connected to their point-of-sale system.
Pro charges $39 per month for each location beyond the two included, which adds cost as a business expands.

Alternatives

For a broader comparison of loyalty products, see Loyalty Program Software; salons can also browse Salon Loyalty Software.

LoyaltyLion is worth considering for stores processing 400 orders or fewer per month that want a free plan with a free trial; its listed Classic plan is 199.00 USD per month. Smile.io is another web and API option, with a free plan covering 200 monthly orders, 10 specialized reports, points and referrals, and discounts or free-shipping rewards. Choose between them and meed based on whether an online store's order-based program or meed's wallet cards and visit-based earning better fit the business.

Loyalty Gator offers a paid Bite plan for up to 100 customers, with unlimited loyalty transactions, rewards, and promotions; it may fit a small program that values those stated limits. Yotpo Loyalty has a free plan with a basic points campaign, referrals, program awareness tools, and Support Center tutorials, making it an alternative for businesses focused on points and referrals.

Oracle Retail Xstore Point-of-Service is a paid retail point-of-service option for businesses considering that category instead. Comarch Accounts Payable Automation is a paid alternative to evaluate for a different software need. Simplicity Loyalty is another paid loyalty option, while Annex Cloud Loyalty Experience Platform is positioned as enterprise-ready SaaS.

Verdict

Choose meed if your business wants a phone-based loyalty program with wallet cards, flexible stamp earning, and no customer app requirement. Its receipt, QR, and NFC options make it adaptable for local businesses that do not need POS integration. The free plan is only a small-scale starting point, and businesses that need POS-connected loyalty or plan to grow beyond the included locations should look elsewhere or account for Pro's ongoing costs.
