Overview

Pronto is salon-management software for businesses that want bookings, checkout, client records, inventory and reminders in one system. It suits independent operators and growing salon teams, with both cloud and self-hosted options. Its strongest appeal is a usable free entry point; small team and volume caps make the paid tiers important as a salon grows.

It is aimed at beauty and hair salons, nail salons, barbershops, spas, lash studios and tattoo studios. Clients can book with just a name and phone number, without creating an account or installing an app. Salons can link the booking page from Instagram or Google, and import client lists from Fresha, Vagaro, Booksy, Mindbody, Square or another platform that exports CSV.

Key features

Booking and client management

Online self-booking, staff calendars, cancellation controls and appointment payments cover the core appointment flow. Removing the account and app requirement lowers friction for clients; importing an existing client list can also help a salon move from another system. The free plan's 50-booking monthly limit, however, leaves little room for a busy appointment book.

Checkout, inventory and reminders

The point of sale accepts cash, card and transfer, supports discounts and printed or digital receipts, and can continue checkout offline. That is a practical combination for salons that need checkout to keep moving during a connectivity interruption. Inventory tracking sits alongside those sales workflows, though the plan limits on product counts matter for businesses with larger catalogs.

Automatic confirmations and reminders can go by Email, Telegram, WhatsApp and Viber, giving salons several channels to reach clients. The POS supports card payments, but the available product details do not establish payment-processing fees or terms, so those should be checked before choosing it for a payment-heavy operation.

Data, security and deployment

Cloud users can export client data and history at any time; with self-hosting, the data stays on the user's server. The privacy policy describes TLS encryption in transit, encryption at rest, access controls and regular security reviews, and says Pronto does not sell personal data. It also says passwords are hashed, card data is not stored by Pronto, and deleted-account data is deleted or anonymized within 30 days unless it must be retained by law.

Self-hosting uses Docker Compose and requires at least 1 GB of RAM; supported systems are Linux, macOS or Windows with WSL2.

Pricing

Pronto is freemium, with a free plan and monthly paid plans. The Free plan costs 0.00 USD per free (billed Forever) and includes 1 staff member, 100 clients, 50 bookings per month and 100 products. It is a sensible starting point for a solo operator with a modest appointment book, but the booking cap is the first constraint a busier salon is likely to hit.

Starter costs 19.00 USD per month (billed Monthly) and includes 5 staff, unlimited clients and bookings, and 2,000 products. It removes the booking and client ceilings and is the clearest fit for a small team; the five-staff cap and product limit remain relevant as operations expand.

Pro costs 39.00 USD per month (billed Monthly) and raises the staff limit to 15 while making products unlimited; clients and bookings remain unlimited. It fits a larger single operation that needs more staff or a broad inventory. Agency costs 79.00 USD per month (billed Monthly) and includes an unlimited team, unlimited clients and bookings, and multiple locations. It is the tier for operators managing more than one site, and includes priority support.

Email support and priority support are listed. The documentation directs users to GitHub issues for help. White-label mode, API access, staff permissions and dedicated support with SLA are described as coming soon, so they should not be treated as current reasons to upgrade.

Platforms

Pronto is listed for web, Linux, macOS, Windows and self-hosted use. The self-hosted option has the Docker Compose and system requirements noted above; the listed platform range does not include Android or iOS.

Who it's for

Pronto is a strong fit for salons and barbershops that want to centralize bookings, checkout, client information, inventory and reminders, especially if they value an account-free booking flow or want the option to keep self-hosted data on their own server. Solo businesses can start free, while small teams gain unlimited bookings on Starter for 19.00 USD per month.

It is less compelling for a growing salon that needs advanced staff permissions, API access, white-labeling or dedicated SLA support immediately: those capabilities are coming soon rather than current plan features. Operators who need a mobile-platform listing should also compare services that list Android or iOS support.

Pros and cons

Pros: Clients can book without an account or app, reducing barriers to an appointment.
Pros: Checkout supports cash, card, transfer, discounts, receipts and offline operation, combining useful sales workflows in one POS.
Pros: The forever-free plan gives a solo operator a way to begin without a subscription, and Starter removes client and booking caps for a five-person team.
Pros: Cloud exports and self-hosting offer distinct data-portability and control options.
Cons: Free is capped at 50 bookings per month, 100 clients, 100 products and one staff member, making it a limited long-term fit for a busy salon.
Cons: The paid tiers cap staff at five on Starter and 15 on Pro; multi-location teams need Agency at 79.00 USD per month.
Cons: White-label mode, API access, staff permissions and SLA-backed dedicated support are not yet current features.
Cons: Self-hosting requires Docker Compose and at least 1 GB RAM, which adds operational work for owners without technical support.

Verdict

Choose Pronto if your salon wants booking, checkout, client management, inventory and reminders together, and especially if a free start or self-hosted data control matters. The account-free booking flow and a Starter tier with unlimited bookings make it practical for solo operators and small teams. Look elsewhere if you need advanced staff permissions, API access, white-labeling or SLA-backed support now, or if the free plan's tight volume caps are all your budget can accommodate.
