Overview

Suno is a music-making platform that turns text prompts into songs and supports further editing and sharing. It suits creators who want to move from an idea to a produced track in one service. Its breadth is appealing, but commercial rights and a useful monthly download allowance require a paid plan.

Key features

Suno can generate a complete song from a prompt in under a minute, including vocals, and it also accepts audio uploads. That makes it useful for quickly exploring ideas from either a description or source audio; the Free and Pro plans allow uploads of up to eight minutes, while Premier raises that limit to 30 minutes.

Multitrack editing and MIDI sequencing extend the workflow beyond generation. Stem separation produces vocal and instrument stems, while Premier adds three types of separation and Suno Studio with MIDI, effects, and automation. Pro and Premier subscribers can create custom models from their own recordings, which gives paying creators a way to tailor generation to their material. MP3 and WAV exports cover common listening and production needs, and sharing supports distribution from a small circle to a large audience.

The main constraint is that credits do not carry over between days or months. Purchased top-up credits do not expire, but require an active subscription. If your output depends on using every monthly credit or download, those terms make plan choice important.

Pricing

Suno uses a freemium model. The Free plan costs 0.00 USD per month and provides 50 credits per day, with up to 10 songs per day and no credit card required. It allows uploads up to eight minutes, but offers no commercial rights or monthly song downloads. That makes it suitable for personal experimentation, not a reliable route to commercial releases.

Pro costs 8.00 USD per month, with taxes calculated at checkout. It includes 2,500 credits and 20 song downloads per month, allows up to 10 songs at once, and retains the eight-minute upload limit. Paid subscribers can use songs in videos, albums, and other projects, so Pro is the more practical choice for creators who need commercial rights and moderate monthly output.

Premier costs 24.00 USD per month, with taxes calculated at checkout. It provides 10,000 credits and 60 song downloads per month, allows up to 10 songs at once, and raises uploads to 30 minutes. It also includes Suno Studio and every feature unlocked, making it the stronger fit for heavier use, longer source recordings, or more involved production. Both paid plans offer a 20% discount with annual billing; the stated annual savings are $24 for Pro and $72 for Premier. Choose based on expected use: unused subscription credits expire rather than accumulating.

Platforms

Suno supports web and mobile use, with Android and iOS listed as platforms. This gives mobile users access alongside the web workflow.

Who it's for

Suno is best suited to songwriters and creators who want rapid prompt-based drafts, generated vocals, and a path into editing, stems, or sharing. Pro fits those who need commercial rights and a moderate number of downloads; Premier suits users who need more credits, downloads, longer uploads, and its expanded production tools. It is a poor fit for anyone who needs commercial rights without paying or expects subscription credits to roll over.

Pros and cons

Pros

Complete songs can be generated from text prompts in under a minute, which helps when speed matters during ideation.
Multitrack editing, MIDI sequencing, stem separation, and MP3/WAV exports support work beyond a single generated mix.
Paid plans include commercial rights, with Premier adding longer uploads and Suno Studio tools.

Cons

The Free plan has no commercial rights or monthly downloads, limiting its use to personal exploration.
Subscription credits expire daily or monthly instead of carrying forward, so unused capacity is lost.
Download quotas are capped at 20 per month on Pro and 60 on Premier, which may constrain frequent publishing.

Alternatives

Udio is worth considering if its free tier's 10 daily credits and up to three 130-second songs per day better match your short-form experimentation needs.

Treblo is an alternative for users looking for unlimited songs on its Free plan.

Eleven Music may suit web-only users who want a Free plan with 10,000 monthly credits for personal use.

MusicWave.ai is an option if a small, no-credit-card signup allowance and streaming-only personal use are enough to try music generation.

Ailume is another web-based freemium option for personal, non-commercial use.

SongUp AI offers three free instant songs for personal use, making it an alternative for a limited no-cost trial.

CAVN AI is an alternative for users who want a free tier with daily renewing credits and two concurrent generations.

Wubble is worth a look if unlimited generation minutes matter more than a larger free download allowance.

Verdict

Choose Suno if you want prompt-to-song generation paired with editing, stems, exports, and sharing in one workflow. Its strongest case is the range from quick drafts to more involved production, especially on Premier. Look elsewhere if you need commercial use on a free plan, rely on unused credits carrying over, or need more monthly downloads than the paid tiers allow.
