Overview

Calorie and macro targets, along with filters for diet, ingredients, and preferences, give users more control than a generic menu generator. Budget and schedule also inform plans. The result suits people deciding what to eat and what to buy, rather than someone looking only for a food diary. Its seven-day maximum horizon is enough for weekly preparation, but not longer-range menu planning.

Key features

Planning and nutrition

The Free plan includes daily meal plans, food tracking, barcode foods, custom foods and recipes, and recurring foods. That is a useful way to try the basic workflow, but its daily horizon is a meaningful constraint for anyone who wants to plan several days ahead. Premium supports a full week, customization by day, saved plan weeks, and shareable PDFs, making it the more practical choice for repeat planning.

Shopping, recipes, and pantry

Grocery lists update automatically from meal plans, with Instacart, Walmart, and Amazon Fresh named as delivery options. Custom recipes and a virtual pantry that favors meals using food already on hand can make a plan more useful in a real kitchen and reduce the disconnect between suggested meals and what is available. Premium is the plan that brings weekly planning together with these grocery tools.

Mobile, extension, and health data

Eat This Much is available on web, Android, and iOS. Its mobile app can sync meal nutrition and weight data with Apple Health, Android Health Connect, or Google Fit, which helps users keep those records alongside other health data. The browser Recipe Clipper sends recipe-page data to Eat This Much only after the user selects “Review in Eat This Much,” a useful boundary for a tool that reads the page it is opened on.

Professional and partner tools

Eat This Much Pro is aimed at dietitians, nutritionists, personal trainers, and health coaches managing client meal plans. The Control plan provides a dashboard, branded emails and PDFs, customized client targets, and up to 10 clients, but clients cannot log in. Collaborate adds client logins, custom permissions, branding in web and mobile apps, and client tracking logs; that is the stronger fit when clients need to participate directly.

The partner API can generate meal plans and grocery lists, with exports in HTML, PDF, or JSON. Access requires direct partner onboarding, and standard terms allow data retention only during the partnership; food nutrition data may be cached for up to seven days. Those conditions matter for partners planning integrations and data handling.

Pricing

Eat This Much uses a freemium model, with a 14-day trial and paid plans from $5/mo (annual). Premium costs 5.00 USD per month, billed with an annual subscription. It adds weekly planning, automatic grocery lists and delivery integration, leftovers, daily customization, saved plan weeks, and PDFs. The annual billing term is the key commitment; the free plan avoids it but gives up full-week planning.

The Free plan has no price listed and includes daily meal plans, food tracking, barcode foods, custom foods and recipes, and recurring foods. It is the sensible starting point for daily use, but not for building a week ahead. The two Pro plans are billed quarterly and each covers up to 10 clients: Professional — Control is 49.00 USD per month, while Professional — Collaborate is 59.00 USD per month. The additional 10.00 USD per month buys client logins, permissions, app branding, and tracking logs, so it is worthwhile when client participation is part of the workflow. The Pro offering includes a 14-day free trial and a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Partner API pricing is custom pricing tailored to partner use case and volume, with early access and partner onboarding required. It is for organizations building an integration, not individuals seeking a meal-planning subscription.

Platforms

The consumer service supports web and mobile, with Android and iOS apps. A browser extension clips recipes, and an API is offered to partners. Health syncing is available through the mobile app; the API is a separately onboarded partner product rather than an ordinary consumer feature.

Who it's for

Choose Eat This Much if nutrition targets and food preferences should shape a plan that also produces a grocery list. Premium is the better fit for households or individuals who plan a full week, customize individual days, or want saved plans and PDFs. Free is more appropriate for trying daily plans and basic tracking without paying. Professionals managing clients should compare the two quarterly Pro tiers based on whether clients need access and tracking tools; partners considering an API integration should account for onboarding and data-retention terms.

It is less compelling for people who only want calorie logging, need meal plans beyond seven days, or expect client management to be part of the consumer subscription. Its privacy policy says the company does not sell personal information and describes collection of account, usage, location, body measurement, and food activity data, a consideration for users deciding whether to connect personal health and food records.

Pros and cons

Pro: Nutrition targets and dietary, ingredient, and preference filters make plans more personal than a fixed menu.
Pro: Automatic grocery lists, delivery options, custom recipes, and pantry-aware suggestions connect planning to shopping and food already on hand.
Pro: Premium saves and customizes weekly plans, while mobile health syncing can keep nutrition and weight data in connected health apps.
Con: Free planning is limited to daily plans, so users must pay for advance weekly preparation.
Con: Premium's 5.00 USD per month price requires an annual subscription.
Con: Professional features cost substantially more than Premium and are billed quarterly; Control also does not let clients log in.
Con: API access depends on partner onboarding, and standard terms restrict retention and caching of data.

Alternatives

For a broader comparison, start with AI Meal Planning Apps or Fitness Nutrition Software. Consider KitchenPocket if recipe storage and clipping are the priority; its free plan includes a Recipe Clipper and storage for 100 recipes. Choose Fitia for a free calorie and macro tracker with food logging and a barcode scanner, rather than Eat This Much's emphasis on meal plans and shopping. MealIdeas AI offers daily AI meal picks and the first two meal plans on its free tier, making it an option for trying meal suggestions before paying.

Nutrig may suit someone who wants one meal plan per week on a free tier, alongside water and calorie tracking. Yumnia is another option for creating a meal plan and grocery list on its free plan. KitchUp has a free tier with core features and ads, for readers considering an iOS or macOS option. Rexipe is an iOS alternative with a free plan that includes three recipes. MyPlateAI offers three AI meal generations per month, basic recipes, saved favorites, and a grocery list preview on its free plan.

Verdict

Eat This Much is a strong choice for people who want nutrition-led meal plans to flow directly into grocery preparation, especially when weekly customization and pantry-aware suggestions matter. Start with Free for daily planning; move to Premium if a full week and saved plans are worth an annual subscription. Look elsewhere if the need is tracking alone, a planning horizon beyond seven days, or affordable client management.
