Overview

EDITED Pricing combines a retailer’s own prices, competitor pricing and customer reactions to identify opportunities for price changes and promotions. It can flag products for increases or decreases and apply rules that automate those changes. This is more useful than a competitor-watch list for retailers that want a repeatable pricing process, although automated decisions still depend on commercially sound rules.

Product matching helps benchmark items against comparable market products, while configurable dashboards can put competitive information beside business-performance data. EDITED’s in-house analysts also publish retail analysis, trend and runway articles through EDITED Research, giving teams context alongside operational dashboards.

Key features

Price and promotion control

Hybrid pricing methods support price architecture work as well as ongoing adjustments. Rules can automate increases or decreases once a team has defined acceptable conditions, reducing repetitive intervention while preserving the need for oversight. Promotion optimization is aimed at strategic, data-backed offers rather than blanket markdowns, which is a stronger fit for targeted inventory movement than for a basic markdown scheduler.

Market data and matching

Competitor price monitoring and product matching provide the inputs for benchmarking. The practical benefit is a comparison based on similar products instead of unfiltered market figures. Dashboards are configurable through widgets, so commercial and performance views can be brought together for pricing decisions.

API and agent connections

The Market API returns JSON that customers can connect to selected systems and visualize in Tableau, Looker, Power BI or Google Data Studio. EDITED MCP can connect by API key to Claude Code, Claude Desktop or a customer’s own agent, with Cursor and GitHub Copilot listed as supported developer tools. Teams should review EDITED’s security documentation before creating an MCP connection, particularly where agent access is part of the workflow.

Pricing

EDITED Pricing is a paid platform module with custom pricing; contact EDITED for a demo. No per-seat, usage quota or renewal terms are given, so it is difficult to forecast cost without a sales discussion. That approach is most appropriate for retail organizations able to evaluate a broader platform purchase, and less convenient for small teams that need an immediately comparable monthly plan.

A separate free 14-day AskEDITED trial provides access to retail data covering 90,000 brands, 5 billion or more SKUs and 110 countries. It is a time-limited way to assess the breadth of data, not a free version of the Pricing module.

Platforms

EDITED Pricing is available through web and API access. The API and BI connections suit teams that need to feed market data into an existing analytics stack rather than work only in a standalone interface.

Who it's for

Buyers, merchandisers, ecommerce teams and insights teams are the intended users. It is a good fit for retailers with enough product and competitive data to define pricing rules, compare matched products and target promotions. It is less suitable for a small operation seeking a low-cost, self-serve price monitor with transparent limits.

Pros and cons

Pros

Unified pricing workflow: Price architecture, automated adjustments, competitor monitoring and promotion optimization address more than simple price collection.
Relevant benchmarking: Product matching and customer-reaction signals make comparisons more actionable than competitor prices alone.
Extensible data: JSON API output and named BI integrations support existing reporting environments.
Broad trial data: The 14-day AskEDITED trial spans 90,000 brands, at least 5 billion SKUs and 110 countries.

Cons

Custom cost: Pricing on request makes budgeting and plan comparison harder.
Automation needs governance: Rules can change prices at scale, so poorly chosen conditions can amplify commercial mistakes.
Trial distinction: AskEDITED’s data trial does not establish that the paid Pricing module itself is freely usable.
Integration review required: MCP access through an API key calls for a security review before connecting agents.

Alternatives

For a broader shortlist, see Retail Pricing Software and Competitor Price Monitoring Software.

Pricefy is a better starting point for a small catalog needing a freemium entry: its Free plan covers 50 SKUs, five competitors and daily updates, while Starter costs 37.00 USD per month.

DynamicPricing.ai suits teams that want a low-cost rules experiment, with a free plan for one price test and one rule across up to 50 products, plus a 75.00 USD-per-month Starter plan.

Retailgrid is worth considering when grid-based monitoring and a freemium tier matter; its Freemium plan allows 500 grid rows with seven-day retention, while Starter is 349.00 EUR per month.

SAS Visual Statistics is the alternative for enterprise-scale statistical modeling on SAS Viya.

Shopify is the broader commerce platform choice, with web access and inventory-location and staff-account limits that vary by plan.

Price2Spy is a dedicated monitoring option with competitor limits and alerting that vary by plan.

Prisync is preferable when transparent URL-based monitoring is the priority: Professional costs 99.00 USD per month for up to 100 products and three daily updates.

NIQ is another paid market-information platform for organizations needing its broader platform scope.

Verdict

Choose EDITED Pricing if your retail team needs one system for price architecture, competitive benchmarking, automated adjustments and targeted promotions, and can support a custom enterprise buying process. Look elsewhere if transparent self-serve pricing, a small free tier or a narrowly focused monitoring tool matters more than integrated retail intelligence.
