Overview

Education Walkthrough is an observation and feedback platform for school and district instructional leaders. It suits principals, coaches, and other leaders who need a consistent process for classroom visits and follow-up. Its appeal is the combination of structured observation tools and school-level insight; the free tier is too constrained for broad use.

Key features

Observations and follow-through

Leaders can use a 10-minute Danielson Framework-based template, browse the template library, or build standards-aligned tools with the editor. Custom rubrics let schools reflect their own criteria. Photo and video evidence and saved drafts help preserve context beyond a completed form, while customized PDF reports with a digital signature and school logo support documentation. Feedback workflows and professional-growth plans carry the process beyond the classroom visit.

Analytics and administration

School-wide analytics visualize observation data and help leaders identify trends and growth areas. That makes the product more useful for looking across visits than a tool limited to individual records, but analytics are absent from Basic. Offline work is saved on the device and syncs automatically after reconnection, which supports observations where connectivity is unreliable.

OneRoster v1.1 roster sync works with ClassLink and Clever; Google Single Sign-On and Google Drive report storage are also supported. The maker describes its architecture as FERPA-first and offers role-based access control and data export via CSV or Google Drive. The privacy policy says web cookies store session data without tracking user activity or sending information to third parties. Live chat and email, a 24/7 help center, onboarding, and customized professional learning round out support.

Pricing

Basic is free and covers one school, five teachers, and 10 walkthroughs per month. With neither analytics nor collaboration, it is best for a small-scale evaluation or an individual leader with modest volume, not a team that needs shared work or school-wide analysis.

Individual costs 200.00 USD per year, billed annually per user, with one user maximum. It expands coverage to 20 teachers and unlimited walkthroughs at one school, and adds analytics, but still has no collaboration. It fits a solo leader who needs more capacity and insight without a team workflow.

School costs 400.00 USD per year, billed annually per user. It allows unlimited teachers and walkthroughs at one school and adds analytics, reports, AI Enhance, and team collaboration. This is the most suitable published tier for a school team; its cost is higher than Individual, but it removes the teacher cap and supports shared work.

District has custom pricing, is billed annually, and offers volume discounts. It covers unlimited schools, teachers, and walkthroughs, with district-wide reporting, insights, and team collaboration, making it the relevant tier for multi-school organizations. The School Teams trial lasts 14 days, and up to 25 people can join without being billed during the trial.

Platforms

Education Walkthrough is available on Android, iOS, and the web. Mobile access pairs with offline saving and later sync, while web access supports the broader reporting and administrative workflow.

Who it's for

Principals, instructional coaches, school leaders, district leaders, and regional leaders are the intended audience. Basic can suit a limited pilot; Individual fits a solo user at one school; School is the stronger match for collaborative school teams. District is aimed at organizations needing coverage and insight across multiple schools. It is not a fit for anyone who needs collaboration on the free or Individual plan.

Pros and cons

Pros: Flexible templates, custom rubrics, multimedia evidence, and growth plans support a structured observation-to-feedback process.
Pros: Offline saving and automatic sync help prevent connectivity from interrupting classroom visits.
Pros: Analytics and collaboration are available on School, while District adds multi-school reporting.
Cons: Basic's five-teacher and 10-walkthrough monthly caps limit sustained use, and it has no analytics or collaboration.
Cons: Individual still excludes collaboration, so teams must step up to School.

Alternatives

Teacher Evaluation Software is a broader category to explore when comparing products for evaluation workflows.

Choose Observation Partner if a web-based personal observation workspace and evidence capture, drafts, export, and progress tracking are the priority; its free plan includes 1,250 lifetime starter AI credits.

eCOVE Observation Software is an alternative with Android, iOS, macOS, web, and Windows support; its Advanced Editions cost 99.00 USD per year per user/observer.

Classroom Mosaic may suit readers seeking a paid product with a free trial and broad Android, iOS, macOS, web, and Windows support.

Zyqual is another freemium web option.

EX in Education Evaluations is a paid web option with quote-based pricing after a 30-minute call.

PowerSchool Behavior Support is a paid option for Android, iOS, and web.

Vector Evaluations+ is a paid option with quote-based pricing tailored to organization size and product mix.

KickUp Growth is a paid web option.

Verdict

Education Walkthrough is a strong choice for instructional leaders who want structured classroom observations, documented feedback, and analytics in one workflow. The main reason to choose it is the progression from templates and evidence capture to school-level insight; the main reason to look elsewhere is that collaboration requires the School tier, while Basic is sharply capped and Individual remains single-user.
