Overview

Effy AI brings employee performance, engagement, and workplace satisfaction into a system that spans formal reviews and ongoing goals. Teams can run 360, peer, upward, self, probation, and annual reviews using customizable forms and workflows. That breadth suits companies that need different review formats across roles or stages of employment; teams seeking only a lightweight goal tracker may find the management scope unnecessary.

Goals and OKRs cascade from company to team to individual, with progress tracking and links to reviews. Framework building, job family management, and career paths extend the platform into role structure and development. Together, these capabilities can connect objectives and review conversations, rather than treating them as separate processes.

Key features

Review support and AI

AI-generated summaries and reports, writing assistance, and automated reminders address the administrative work around review cycles. They can help managers organize and move feedback through the process, while leaving performance judgments to the people involved.

Feedback and connected tools

The Slack app sends reminders, captures feedback and kudos, and syncs workspace people; it is included in every plan. That makes it useful for teams already working in Slack, where feedback can be captured without shifting employees into a separate routine. Effy AI skills can also connect to Claude, ChatGPT, or Copilot through MCP. Its 1-on-1 skill prepares manager notes using employee context and connected tools including Gmail, Google Calendar, Granola, Zoom, Fathom, and Slack.

Security and support

Effy says it is designed for GDPR compliance and describes AWS hosting, access controls, MFA, and encryption. It also says formal audits and a business continuity plan were not in place when its security page was last updated on October 3, 2024. Those gaps matter particularly to organizations with formal assurance or continuity requirements. Controls to archive or export historical reviews and set deletion policies give teams options for managing retained data.

Pricing

Effy AI uses a freemium model. The Free plan costs 0.00 USD per free, supports up to 5 users, requires no credit card, and has no time limit. It is a practical way for a small team to try the core platform, but the five-user ceiling makes it unsuitable as a continuing plan for a larger organization.

Goals and OKRs costs 2.00 USD per year, billed annually, and includes SMART goals and OKRs, people and alignment views, PDPs and PIPs, and check-ins. It fits teams prioritizing structured goal management, but the stated plan scope is narrower than a dedicated review plan. The 360° Reviews plan costs 6.00 USD per year, billed annually, and includes multiple reviews per user per year; it suits organizations needing recurring review cycles. Paid pricing is also described as starting from $2/user/mo (annual). Teams should compare that per-user starting figure with the plan prices and terms before choosing a tier.

Platforms

Effy AI is available on the web. Its Slack app and MCP connections to Claude, ChatGPT, or Copilot extend its workflows into those tools.

Who it's for

Effy says it works best for companies with 30 to 1,000+ employees, including software, financial services, and healthcare organizations. Its varied review formats, cascading goals, job-family tools, and career paths make it a stronger fit for organizations coordinating performance processes across teams than for a small business with occasional, informal appraisals. Companies with stringent audit or continuity expectations should look elsewhere unless the stated gaps meet their requirements.

Pros and cons

Pros: Multiple review types and customizable workflows can accommodate different evaluation processes within one platform.
Pros: Cascading goals link company, team, and individual priorities to progress tracking and reviews.
Pros: Slack feedback capture and inclusion across plans support ongoing feedback in an existing team workspace.
Pros: A no-time-limit free plan offers a no-credit-card starting point for teams of up to five users.
Cons: The free plan's five-user cap leaves larger teams needing a paid plan.
Cons: Formal audits and a business continuity plan were absent when the security page was last updated, a concern for organizations with strict assurance requirements.
Cons: The annual plan prices and the separate per-user monthly starting price make it important to confirm the applicable price and scope before committing.

Alternatives

For a narrower focus on role frameworks and job architecture, compare Job Architecture Software and Performance Management Software to find a category fit. JobFrame is a freemium alternative with web and API access, a free plan covering look-up, job profiles, family matrices, an index, open canon, and developer/API docs, plus a one-time job-mapping price billed at $0.25 per employee row. Choose it when job-profile and family-matrix work is the priority rather than the review and feedback workflow Effy emphasizes.

Centranum is a paid alternative with a free trial and API, self-hosted, and web platforms. CozyHR is worth comparing for teams seeking a paid HR platform with a free plan and trial; its Starter plan is offered free during early access, then at ₹4,999/mo, with a stated limit of up to 75 employees.

Leapsome is a paid, no-free-plan alternative with a free trial and mobile, API, and web platforms; consider it if its compensation-focused offering is relevant, including a Compensation plan at 3.00 EUR per month per employee. TalentGuard has a free plan and trial, with API and web access, and is another option to compare for talent management. Oracle Fusion HCM Analytics is a paid alternative with a free trial and mobile and web platforms; its hosted-employee plan has a 1,000-employee minimum and a standard three-year subscription term. BenefitConnect and Career Voyager are further paid alternatives to consider.

Verdict

Effy AI is a good fit for growing organizations that want structured employee reviews connected to cascading goals, role development, and Slack-based feedback. Its broad workflows and five-user free plan make it approachable, while its security features and data controls address several practical needs. Choose another platform if formal audits or a business continuity plan are prerequisites, or if the organization needs a different scope than performance management.
