Overview

EmailOnDeck provides disposable addresses for receiving messages without sharing a personal inbox. A free address usually lasts for hours—typically more than one, and often most of the day—but closing the browser or clearing cookies can cut that time short. Use it when you can complete the task promptly; choose a lasting mailbox if you may need to retrieve a message later.

The free plan also limits sending to other EmailOnDeck addresses. That makes the service a practical receiving tool, not a general-purpose email account. Pro removes that restriction for anonymous email to anyone, though sending is not supported through its API.

Key features

Free users can keep one email at a time. Pro supports 100 or more at once and adds custom addresses, saved addresses, and exclusive domains. Those additions matter for people managing several temporary inboxes or wanting to reuse an address; casual users may have little reason to pay for that capacity.

Attachments can be viewed or downloaded from a message. The free Spy Pixel Scanner runs in the browser and says pasted email source is not uploaded or stored, a useful privacy option when checking a message for tracking pixels.

EmailOnDeck uses HTTPS, and its email servers use TLS. The company says it continuously wipes its servers and logs, keeps no backups, and overwrites deleted disks with zeros before reuse. Its hosting facility is stated to be SOC 2 Type II and PCI-DSS certified. These are relevant safeguards, but they do not change the short-lived nature of an inbox.

The Pro API can create and delete addresses, list domains, count messages, view headers, and retrieve raw messages. Its daily limit is 25,000 calls, and API access requires an active Pro account and a 40-character private key. Since sending is unavailable through the API, it suits inbox and address management rather than automated outbound mail.

Chrome and Firefox extensions create disposable addresses. The Chrome extension says it requests access only to emailondeck.com, rather than browsing history or all websites—a narrower permission footprint for users cautious about extensions. Free iPhone and Android apps extend access beyond the browser. For messages that display incorrectly or sites where the service does not work, EmailOnDeck directs users to contact it.

Pricing

EmailOnDeck is freemium, with two Pro payment options. The free plan is free, is billed forever, and is ad-supported. It includes one email at a time and securely wiped logs, but not unrestricted sending or multiple concurrent addresses. That is enough for occasional confirmations, provided you do not need to retain access.

PRO (Bitcoin) costs 0.00 BTC per once; each payment extends access by 30 days. It removes ads, allows 100 or more emails at once, and adds sending, custom and saved addresses, exclusive domains, and API access. PRO (Ethereum) costs 0.03 ETH per once for the same 30-day extension and listed features. Both are payment-by-payment renewals rather than a stated recurring term. The Bitcoin option has no stated BTC charge, while the Ethereum option has a fixed amount; neither changes the short inbox lifetime into long-term storage.

Platforms

EmailOnDeck is available on the web, Android, and iOS, with Chrome and Firefox extensions. It also offers an API for active Pro accounts. That range makes it accessible on desktop and mobile, although the API’s 25,000-call daily limit and lack of sending are important constraints for automation.

Who it's for

EmailOnDeck is a good fit for people who need a disposable address for a sign-up or confirmation and can check the inbox soon afterward. The browser extensions and free mobile apps offer convenient ways to create addresses across devices. Pro is better suited to users who need many simultaneous addresses, reusable custom addresses, anonymous outbound email, or API-based inbox management.

Look elsewhere if you need a durable mailbox, reliable long-term message retrieval, or API-driven sending. The free plan’s one-address cap and restricted sending also make it a poor choice for ongoing email workflows.

Pros and cons

Pros: Free web, mobile, and browser-extension access makes short-term receiving available across platforms.
Pros: Pro combines 100 or more simultaneous addresses, custom and saved addresses, exclusive domains, and sending for users with broader needs.
Pros: Attachments are viewable or downloadable, and the browser-based Spy Pixel Scanner says it does not upload or store pasted source.
Cons: Free access is limited to one address at a time and sending only to EmailOnDeck addresses.
Cons: Inbox access can end after hours or sooner if the browser closes or cookies are cleared, so it is unsuitable for messages you need to keep.
Cons: The API requires Pro and a private key, has a daily call limit, and cannot send email.

Alternatives

For a broader comparison, see Disposable Email Services and Temporary Email Services.

Mailinator is another freemium web and API option. Its Verified Pro plan is tied to verification and includes unlimited private inboxes, one private domain, permanent storage, throughput of up to 10 emails per second, and 2K emails per month; consider it when those stated private-inbox and storage terms fit your needs.
SecureTempMail offers web, API, desktop, and extension platforms. Its Premium plan costs 39.00 USD per year and includes up to 30-day retention, attachment downloads, inbox history and search, and no ads; it is a better match when longer retention matters more than EmailOnDeck’s hours-long inboxes.
Temp-Mail.org has free and paid tiers across web, mobile, extensions, and API. The free plan stores messages for up to 1–2 hours and is receive-only; its 10.00 USD per month Premium plan is an option when those free limits do not fit.
MailDrop offers a free web and API tier with 300 requests per day, one mailbox per 24 hours, public domains, and community support. Its 5.00 USD per month Starter plan may suit users seeking a paid request and mailbox allowance.
Mohmal is a web-based freemium option. Its free plan includes an own domain, three inbox records, three saved messages, attachment viewing, and premium domains; choose it when those listed capabilities are a better fit than EmailOnDeck’s single free address and short access window.
Emailnator offers web and API access. Its free tier requires no sign-up, provides public inboxes, deletes messages after 24 hours, and allows up to 100 addresses at once; it is worth considering when that address allowance and retention period suit the task.
10 Minute Temp Email is a free web option with a receive-only 10-minute mailbox and no recovery; choose it for a deliberately brief inbox.
TempInbox is a free web option with up to three inboxes per browser, no sign-up, and no 10-minute timer.

Verdict

EmailOnDeck is a sensible choice for short-lived sign-ups and confirmations, especially if you want to create addresses from a browser extension or mobile app. Its main advantage is a free, multi-platform service with Pro options for higher-volume address management and sending. Choose another service if messages must remain accessible beyond a few hours, or if your workflow needs API-based sending.
