Overview

Epic Stock Media is a sound library for games, film, video and interactive audio projects. It suits creators who want commercial-use audio in either a downloadable collection or a searchable subscription library. Its broad catalog and royalty-free license are appealing, though the one-user license and subscription download cap matter for teams and high-volume work.

The catalog covers sound effects, music, samples, loops, clips, foley and background audio. Epic Stock Media says its search spans more than 500,000 items; Cloud Vault separately offers over 100,000 premium sound effects for searching, previewing and downloading. The company was founded in 2014 as a family business in Franklin, Tennessee. The wider Sound Effects Libraries category is useful if a different library or licensing model better fits a project.

Key features

Cloud Vault: The cloud library supports searching, previewing and downloading. Its annual plans include all Cloud Vault content libraries, custom sound requests and priority support, but both cap downloads at 300 sounds per month. That is a meaningful constraint for prolific sound designers or studios with steady production needs.
One-time libraries: Collections range from Trailer Vault, with 8,003 effects across 25 libraries, to Master Vault, with 162,604 effects across 235 libraries. The bigger bundles provide substantial breadth, but buyers pay upfront and should choose based on the kinds of sounds their projects need.
Formats and compatibility: Master Vault materials include 96kHz/24-bit and 44.1kHz/16-bit audio, as well as game-ready MP3. Vault libraries are described as compatible with major audio and video editors, DAWs and game engines. Files are provided in WAV and MP3 formats.
License and delivery: The license allows royalty-free commercial use worldwide, is non-exclusive, and grants unlimited usage to one user. It prohibits reselling raw files, sharing them with unlicensed third parties, embedding them in audio software or hardware, and using them to train commercial machine-learning algorithms. Purchases arrive as ZIP or RAR downloads through email or the customer account; links expire after five days but can be reactivated.

Pricing

Epic Stock Media uses a freemium model, with free sounds and both one-time purchases and annual library subscriptions. The free plan is a sensible way to browse usable material, while paid plans vary considerably in scope and access.

Free Sound Vaults — 0.00 USD per free: Includes 1,922 free sounds. It offers a no-cost starting point, but is a small subset of the broader catalog.
Trailer Vault — 249.00 USD per once: Includes 8,003 sound effects across 25 libraries, 180+ GB and 36+ hours. It is a focused one-time purchase for trailer-oriented needs rather than a general subscription.
Cloud Vault Specialist — 299.00 USD per year: Includes 300 sounds per month, all Cloud Vault content libraries, custom sound requests, priority support and a royalty-free annual license. It suits an individual who wants ongoing access but should be weighed against its monthly quota.
Voice Vault — 299.00 USD per once: Includes 20,370 sound effects across 46 libraries, 25 GB and 12+ hours, plus one year of new voice releases. This is a more targeted purchase for voice material.
Cloud Vault Squads — 999.00 USD per year: Includes the same stated 300 monthly sounds, library access, custom requests, priority support and royalty-free annual license as Specialist. The higher price may suit a different production setup, but the listed features do not describe additional seats or a larger download quota.
Game Vault — 1149.00 USD per once: Includes 115,410 effects across 111 libraries, 250+ GB and 99+ hours, plus one year of updates and new releases. It is a large game-audio collection for buyers preferring a one-time purchase.
Master Vault — 1649.00 USD per once: Includes 162,604 effects across 235 libraries, 350+ GB and 320+ hours, with one year of updates and new releases. It is the broadest stated collection, at a substantial upfront cost.

The Cloud Vault plans are billed annually; the collection plans are billed once. The license grants usage to one user, so teams should not assume that a single purchase covers multiple people. The five-day download-link window is worth noting when planning delivery and archiving.

Platforms

Epic Stock Media is available on macOS, Windows and the web. Its files are designed to work with major sound-editing and video-editing software, DAWs and game engines, which makes the libraries relevant across production workflows.

Who it's for

Game developers, filmmakers, sound designers and freelancers can choose between a small free library, focused purchases and larger collections. In-house teams and studios may value the catalog breadth and custom requests, but the one-user license means each user’s rights need careful consideration. Cloud Vault fits ongoing projects that can work within 300 downloads per month; creators who need unlimited monthly downloads should look elsewhere.

Pros and cons

Pro: A broad catalog spanning effects, music, samples, loops, clips, foley and background audio gives creators multiple kinds of production material in one place.
Pro: The free tier and several one-time collections let buyers start without committing to an annual subscription.
Pro: Commercial, worldwide usage and support for broadcast use suit professional projects, subject to the one-user license and restrictions.
Con: Cloud Vault subscriptions limit downloads to 300 sounds per month, which can be restrictive for high-volume production.
Con: A one-user license does not automatically cover a full team, and raw-file resale, unlicensed sharing, software or hardware embedding, and commercial ML training are prohibited.
Con: Download links expire after five days, adding a delivery-management step even though links can be reactivated.

Alternatives

Soundly is worth considering for users who want a free library plus indexing of 10,000 local sound effects; its free plan excludes Shop add-ons, while its listed 24-hour pass offers short-term Pro access.

ZapSplat may suit web users seeking a low-cost entry: its free Basic plan is MP3-only, has download limits and requires attribution, while Teams monthly is 2.99 GBP per month per seat.

Rogue Waves Libraries offers free UCS-compliant 24-bit/48 kHz files in Close Contact, or a one-time Kawaii UI purchase with 714 WAVE files at 24-bit/96 kHz; it may suit buyers looking for those specific libraries and specifications.

Sound Ideas is an option for readers seeking a paid annual plan with access to over 600K sounds and 100 downloads for 500.00 USD per year.

99Sounds is a free alternative for royalty-free sound libraries and plugins under its site license.

BBC Sound Effects may fit personal, educational or research use at no cost; commercial use requires a licence.

BOOM Library offers a paid BOOM ONE subscription for 495.00 USD per year, with a three-year minimum term and access to its sounds and monthly updates.

Pro Sound Effects offers one-time, one-user lifetime licenses for individual libraries such as Cinematic Dread, All Metal and Ambient Spaces.

Verdict

Epic Stock Media is a strong fit for individual creators who need royalty-free commercial audio and want a choice between a free starting point, focused purchases and expansive sound collections. Its breadth and downloadable options are the main reasons to choose it. Look elsewhere if your team needs shared licensing or your monthly production volume is likely to exceed Cloud Vault’s 300-sound cap.
