Overview

LawConnect combines conversational AI legal guidance with a way to find a lawyer, and suits people who want an initial orientation before deciding whether to seek professional help. Its strongest advantage is free consumer access; its boundary is equally important: hired lawyers may charge standard professional fees.

The AI asks follow-up questions and offers insights tailored to a user’s situation. It can also interpret uploaded files, while lawyer matching takes account of location, issue, legal needs and lawyer capabilities. The network is currently based in Australia and the United Kingdom, so people elsewhere should look for a service with coverage in their jurisdiction.

LawConnect was founded in 2024 and is headquartered at Level 21, Tower 2, 200 Barangaroo Ave, Barangaroo NSW 2000, Australia.

Key features

Guidance, reports and files

A standard case report brings together a summary, tailored answers and potential next steps. A deeper report adds key actions, strategies and risk analysis, giving users a more structured view of an issue. Those reports can help someone organize their questions, but they are AI-generated information, not professional legal advice.

Users can upload files for the AI to interpret, which may add context or shorten the chat process. That is useful when explaining a situation, but it should not be mistaken for a lawyer reviewing documents on the user’s behalf.

Moving from information to a lawyer

Matching considers a user’s location, issue and legal needs alongside the lawyer’s capabilities. This provides a clear route to professional help when general guidance is not enough. Consumers using the lawyer connection product can contact support by email at help@lawconnect.com.

Law firm tools

Law firms can review enquiries and use credits only for matters they choose to accept. Credit packs include credits valid for 12 months, with the quantity set in the firm’s order; auto top up is enabled by default unless otherwise agreed in writing. Firms already using LEAP Legal Software can integrate the credit packs. The firm sign-up page offers a free trial without a stated duration.

For firms, selective credit use can limit commitment to enquiries they accept, but default auto top up warrants attention when setting up an account. The LEAP integration is relevant only to firms already using that software.

Security and privacy

LawConnect’s privacy policy describes safeguards including firewalls, antivirus software, access controls, staff cybersecurity training and steps to de-identify information when it is no longer needed. It also says user information will not be entered into publicly available AI tools without controls over use or further dissemination. These measures address important handling risks, though they do not make AI guidance a substitute for legal review.

Pricing

Free consumer access: Free. AI legal information is free; lawyer fees may apply if a consumer hires one. This is a practical starting point for people seeking initial guidance without paying for the AI service, but it does not make professional representation free.

The consumer service is available on a free plan, and a free trial is also offered. No consumer trial duration or separate paid consumer tier is specified. Law firms can access a free trial, while their credit pack quantity is specified in the order; credits last 12 months and auto top up is enabled by default unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Platforms

Consumers can use LawConnect on the web and on Android and iOS mobile apps. The combination gives users a choice between browser access and mobile use; no desktop app is identified.

Who it's for

LawConnect is best for consumers in Australia or the UK who want to describe a legal concern, get tailored AI-generated information and consider whether to contact a lawyer. It is less suitable for users who need a lawyer immediately, are outside the network’s current coverage, or expect free professional representation.

Law firms may find the enquiry-and-credit model relevant if they want to review leads before using credits, particularly if they already use LEAP. Firms should account for the 12-month credit validity and default auto top up.

Pros and cons

Free AI legal information for consumers: users can seek initial guidance without an AI service fee, though hiring a lawyer may cost extra.
Structured reports and file interpretation: reports can include next steps and, at the deeper level, strategies and risk analysis; uploaded files can add context to the conversation.
A route to professional help: lawyer matching considers the user’s circumstances, but the network currently covers Australia and the UK.
Firm-side credit controls: firms use credits only for matters they accept, but credits expire after 12 months and auto top up is on by default unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Privacy safeguards are described: the policy addresses security and AI data handling, but users should still distinguish AI-generated information from professional legal advice.

Alternatives

For a broader comparison of tools built around client portals, see the Legal Client Portal Software list.

8am MyCase is a paid option with a free plan and trial; its MyCase Basic plan is 50.00 USD per month, billed annually, and includes case and contact management, time entry, invoicing and trust account features. Choose it when those practice-management functions matter more than LawConnect’s free consumer AI guidance.
SimpleLaw Document Automation has a free Law Firm plan for connecting with potential leads and a 59.00 USD per month annual-pricing plan for up to 39 users. It is the more relevant choice when document automation or a larger firm user allowance is the priority.
Filevine offers custom-built packages with matter and document management, billing and payments, plus optional intake, deposition, signature and AI packages. Choose it when a firm needs a configurable matter-management package rather than a consumer-facing guidance service.
Lawcus is a paid option with a free trial and plans that include case and matter management, billing and invoicing, and trust accounting. It is worth considering when those firm operations are the main requirement.
Assembly has a free plan with 5 active contacts, 1 internal user, 50 build credits per month, 3 apps and community support, plus a 29.00 USD per month Starter plan. It is a better fit when a firm wants a client portal with defined contact, user and build-credit limits.
CosmoLex is a paid option with a 49.00 USD per month Launch plan, billed monthly per user, including time tracking and invoicing, online payments, and trust accounting and ledgers. Choose it when those billing and accounting functions are more important than free consumer guidance.
LollyLaw is another paid option with a free trial.
Jusnote is a paid option with a free trial and a Classic plan at 19.00 EUR per month, billed annually, including case, task and event, and contact management, document storage and calendaring. It is worth considering when those case-management functions are the priority.

Verdict

Choose LawConnect if you are a consumer in Australia or the UK who wants free, conversational AI guidance and a path to lawyer matching. Its reports and file interpretation can help frame a matter, but anyone who needs professional advice should be prepared for a lawyer’s fees; firms seeking a full practice-management platform should compare tools built for that work.
