Overview

Organizers can create event pages, promote events, manage attendance and analyze results across categories from classes to concerts and festivals. Attendees can discover events, register and access tickets through Eventbrite’s iPhone and Android app. The platform comes from a San Francisco company founded in 2006.

Its range runs from publishing and promotion through ticketing and on-site operations. That breadth can spare organizers from assembling separate tools for these jobs, though the cost structure is less attractive when events sell paid tickets.

Key features

Publishing and promotion

Event pages combine event information with ticket sales. Organizers can seek marketplace visibility, run email campaigns, use Facebook and Instagram ad tools, distribute promo codes and target smart audiences, then review reporting. AI event creation is also among its ticketing tools. Advanced form customization is useful for organizers with more involved registration needs.

Attendee access and on-site operations

The attendee app handles discovery, registration and ticket access on iPhone and Android. The separate Organizer app scans QR tickets, checks in attendees and supports on-site ticket sales on iOS and Android. Check-in and badge printing round out the operational tools, making Eventbrite more than a ticket checkout page.

Integrations, security and support

The app marketplace lists more than 100 apps, and documented integrations include Mailchimp and Zoom. Zoom has a meaningful constraint: it requires an online, non-recurring event and does not support government Zoom accounts. Eventbrite states that it complies with PCI DSS 4.0.1 Level 1 as both merchant and service provider; organizers can enable authenticator-app multi-factor authentication. Support includes a Help Center and email, with 24/7 chat for paid events.

Pricing

Eventbrite uses a freemium model. Free event publishing costs 0.00 USD per free and includes unlimited event publishing; free tickets have no ticketing fees, and free events can be any size. This is a strong fit for organizers whose events do not charge admission, though paid ticket sales incur fees.

Paid ticketing has no listed subscription price. US fees are 3.7% + $1.79 per paid ticket, plus 2.9% per order for payment processing. Fees apply only to paid tickets; buyers pay by default, or organizers can absorb them. Organizers should account for both charges when setting ticket prices or forecasting proceeds.

Eventbrite Premium costs 69.00 USD per month, billed at $69 per month or $708 per year (save $120). It is an optional subscription with up to 2,000 marketing emails per day and $20/month in EB Ads credits; availability varies by country. It is the paid option for organizers who can use those email and advertising allowances, but the monthly commitment may not suit smaller events.

Eventbrite Pro costs 15.00 USD per month, billed starting at $15/month, and describes up to 10,000 daily marketing emails. Pro plans are no longer available to new subscribers; existing subscribers keep their current plan and email limits. It is therefore relevant only to current customers, not a signup option for new organizers.

Platforms

Eventbrite supports web, Android, iOS and API access. The attendee and organizer apps cover mobile discovery and ticket access as well as event check-in and on-site sales.

Who it's for

Eventbrite fits organizers who want event publishing, promotion, ticketing and attendance management in one platform, especially those running free events or public events across classes, concerts and festivals. It is less compelling for organizers whose paid-ticket margins are tight, or whose online recurring events or government Zoom accounts depend on the Zoom integration.

Pros and cons

Pros: Free events can be any size and free tickets carry no ticketing fees, which makes the platform practical for no-cost events.
Pros: Promotion options, advanced form customization, ticket scanning, check-in and badge printing support both event marketing and on-site operations.
Pros: The attendee app combines discovery, registration and ticket access, while the organizer app supports QR scanning and on-site sales.
Cons: Paid tickets incur per-ticket service and per-order processing charges, which can reduce proceeds or raise buyer costs.
Cons: Zoom integration excludes recurring events and government Zoom accounts, limiting its fit for those organizers.
Cons: Pro is closed to new subscribers, while Premium’s listed email allowance is lower than Pro’s.

Alternatives

For events with defined attendee caps and session limits, Zoho Backstage offers a free plan capped at 100 attendees per event, 300 RSVP invites, three sessions, three speakers and one event day. Humanitix is another freemium ticketing option, with free events carrying no ticket fee and a Standard plan charged per paid ticket at 0.99 USD per month, billed per paid ticket, with a 2.1% booking fee. For nonprofit event needs, compare nonprofit event management software; organizers focused on building an event site can browse event website builders. Those comparing broader workflows can also review event management software, event registration software or event badge printing software. Other alternatives include AlignMint, Kindest Events, Enthuse, RegFox, Zeffy and BetterWorld.

Verdict

Choose Eventbrite if you want event publishing, promotion, ticket sales and on-site attendee management together, particularly for free events where there are no ticketing fees. Look elsewhere if paid-ticket charges undermine your economics or your event relies on a Zoom setup the integration does not support.
