Overview

Nonprofit Cloud is designed for nonprofits, charities, social housing associations and social businesses. Bringing funding, program delivery and impact measurement together can reduce the need to manage those workflows in separate systems. That breadth is most valuable when multiple teams need shared operational data; an organization seeking only a focused donor database may be taking on more platform than it needs.

Key features

Fundraising tools cover donor profiles, reusable audience segments, gift entry, commitments, designations, soft credits and tributes. Campaign management, online donation forms, recurring donations and automated receipts support a broad donor workflow, while advanced reporting is useful for organizations that need to examine performance beyond basic records. The trade-off is that this is a wider operating platform, not just a donation tool.

Volunteer management spans events, roles, shifts, locations, attendance, applications and engagement history; volunteers can sign up themselves through Experience Cloud. Program tools track enrollment, attendance, services and benefits, and outcome tools let teams define outcomes, set targets, record results and collect assessment data. Together, these capabilities suit organizations that need to connect service delivery with impact tracking, rather than maintain disconnected program records.

Grantmaking tools support publishing funding opportunities, collaborating on proposals, awarding grants and managing budgets and disbursements. Salesforce highlights connections to Marketing Cloud, Data 360, Slack and OmniStudio, as well as partner apps including Classy, DonorDrive, WealthEngine and AmpImpact. Accounting Subledger consolidates data between Salesforce CRM and an organization’s accounting system to help manage accounting. These connections broaden the platform’s potential reach, though organizations should assess which are relevant to their workflows.

Salesforce’s trust documentation covers service architecture, security and privacy audits and certifications, and applicable administrative, technical and physical controls. The Advanced plan also includes Full Sandbox, Backup & Recover, Archive, Data Detect and Security Center, which makes its security and data-management scope more extensive than Core’s.

Pricing

Pricing is freemium, with a 30-day trial. The Power of Us Program provides eligible nonprofits with 10 free Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud or Sales/Service Cloud licenses. That is a meaningful starting point for qualifying organizations, but the free offer is capped at those licenses.

Nonprofit Cloud Sales & Service Core is $70 USD/User/Month (Billed annually). It includes the Nonprofit Data Model, Nonprofit Toolkit, Accounting Subledger Growth, flex credits for AI, Agentforce, Data and more, Slack Business+, Tableau Next and Premier Success Plan. It fits organizations that need the core nonprofit data and accounting tools without the additional security, storage, automation and AI features in Advanced.

Nonprofit Cloud Sales & Service Advanced is $125 USD/User/Month (Billed annually). It includes everything in Core plus more AI, storage, automation and security, as well as Full Sandbox, Backup & Recover, Archive, Data Detect, Security Center, Help Agent, Customer Signals Intelligence and Sales Programs. It is the more appropriate tier for organizations that need those additional capabilities; teams that do not should consider whether Core covers their needs before paying the higher rate.

Salesforce’s pricing note gives a paid starting point of $60/user/mo (annual), while its named Core and Advanced plans are priced at $70 and $125 USD/User/Month, respectively. Per-user products require an annual contract. Listed pricing is informational and subject to change, and detailed pricing requires contacting sales, so budget owners should confirm the applicable price and terms before committing.

Platforms

Nonprofit Cloud is available on the web. Organizations seeking a platform across mobile and desktop operating systems should weigh that web-only platform listing against their requirements.

Who it's for

This is a strong fit for nonprofits and related social-purpose organizations that need fundraising, volunteer coordination, program administration, outcomes and grantmaking in a connected system. It is less compelling for organizations with narrow needs, limited use for the broader feature set, or little appetite for annual per-user commitments.

Pros and cons

Pros: Fundraising, volunteer, program, outcome and grantmaking workflows sit within one platform, helping organizations connect operational work with impact measurement.
Pros: Eligible nonprofits can receive 10 free licenses, giving qualifying organizations a route to start without a paid per-user plan.
Pros: Advanced adds explicit sandbox, recovery, archiving and security features for organizations that need those controls.
Cons: Paid per-user products require annual contracts, which is a significant commitment for organizations with uncertain seat needs.
Cons: Detailed pricing requires contacting sales, making it harder to establish a complete budget from the plan prices alone.
Cons: The extensive feature set may be unnecessary for teams that only need donor records or a limited fundraising workflow.

Alternatives

For a focused donor-management or nonprofit CRM shortlist, compare Donor Management Software and Nonprofit CRM Software. Organizations centered on service delivery can also browse Nonprofit Program Management Software.

Keela is worth considering for a web-based alternative with annual contact-banded plans, including 1001–2500 contacts at $243.00 USD per month and 2501–5000 contacts at $316.00 USD per month.
Funraise is an option for organizations raising under $1 million annually that want a free plan; its premium plans require talking with sales.
Trail Blazer may suit a small database of fewer than 500 contacts: its Non-Profit Manager plan is as low as $50/mo, with setup fees of $295 to $495 and unlimited mass email included.
FundRaiser Family offers online plans beginning with FundRaiser Spark at $69.00 USD per month for a single user and unlimited donors.
PWI Charity CRM has a free-forever plan with its Charity CRM and core tools included, making it an alternative for organizations prioritizing a no-cost entry point.
CharityEngine is another option to consider.
CiviCRM may fit organizations seeking a web-based option with a Starter plan at $15.00 USD per month per instance, unlimited users and up to 5,000 contacts.
Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT is another option to consider.

Verdict

Choose Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud if your organization needs fundraising, volunteer management, programs, outcomes and grants to work within one platform, and can support annual per-user pricing. Its connected scope is the central reason to choose it; organizations that need only a narrower donor or program tool, or cannot accept an annual contract, should look elsewhere.
