Overview

EzWaypoints is a Fabric client mod for Minecraft Java Edition that marks locations with in-world labels instead of a minimap. It suits players who want a focused waypoint tool and are comfortable managing Fabric mods. Its appeal is restraint: useful organization and display options, without mapping features competing for attention.

Key features

The in-game manager supports creating, editing, deleting, and paging through saved waypoints. Separate profiles distinguish each multiplayer server and singleplayer world instance, even when two worlds have the same name. That separation matters if you move between several saves or servers and want locations to stay with the right world.

Labels can use Minecraft-style colors and adjustable scale, with an optional Y coordinate. They can display in the current dimension or use linked Overworld and Nether visibility, scaling X/Z coordinates by eight between those dimensions. This offers a practical way to carry waypoint visibility between the two, but it is not a substitute for cave mapping or entity radar; neither is included.

Players can export share codes to send waypoints to others. When importing, the mod skips an entry if its name, color, dimension, and coordinates all match an existing waypoint. That catches exact matches while leaving entries with a difference in any of those fields eligible to import.

A teleport button appears only when the server makes /tp or /teleport available and the player has permission. It is therefore a convenience for servers that already permit teleportation, not a way around server rules. Waypoint data is stored locally in config/ezwaypoints/ezwaypoints.json, and the project uses the MIT License.

Pricing

EzWaypoints is free: its Free plan is free and covers Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.8–1.21.11, Fabric only, as a client-side mod. There is no paid tier or trial to weigh against that plan. The trade-off is scope rather than price: players get waypoints, but not entity radar or cave mapping.

The free plan is a straightforward fit for a player on a supported version who wants waypoint labels and does not need a broader minimap toolkit. It does not cover other mod loaders or Minecraft editions.

Platforms

EzWaypoints supports Linux, macOS, and Windows environments running Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.8 through 1.21.11 with Fabric. Installation calls for Fabric Loader, the matching Fabric API, and the matching EzWaypoints jar in the instance’s mods folder. Because it is client-only, the server does not need the mod installed and there is no custom server protocol. That makes it suitable for adding labels on multiplayer servers without coordinating a server-side mod install, though players still need the right client setup.

Who it's for

Choose EzWaypoints if you want to mark and revisit locations in Minecraft without adding a minimap, or if you switch among worlds and servers and value separate waypoint profiles. It is also a good fit when you want to share waypoint codes or adjust label color and scale. Look elsewhere if you need radar, cave mapping, support for a different loader, or versions outside its stated range.

Pros and cons

Focused waypoint management: Create, edit, delete, and page through locations without a minimap or a larger mapping feature set.
World-specific profiles: Separate profiles keep locations from different servers and singleplayer world instances apart, including same-named worlds.
Flexible labels and sharing: Color, scale, optional Y display, dimension linking, and share codes cover useful organization needs without requiring server installation.
Limited scope and compatibility: It has no cave mapping or entity radar, and requires Fabric on Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.8–1.21.11.

Alternatives

For a broader selection of Minecraft minimap mods, browse Minecraft Minimap Mods. Choose CurseForge instead if you want a web catalog for free Minecraft mods and modpacks, with a premium option for ad-free browsing, instant downloads, and premium web access.

MapWriter Mini Map MITE is a free option for Minecraft 1.6.4-MITE, making it relevant if that is the game version you need rather than EzWaypoints’ newer supported range. Waypointer is another free open-source Fabric mod, but its stated requirements include Fabric Loader, Fabric API, Hypixel Mod API, and Java 25+ for its current version.

Other free alternatives include wWaypoints, Antique Atlas 4, Command Waypoints, Minimap CE, and Xaero's Minimap. Xaero's Minimap also has a Patreon support option at 1.00 USD per month, billed a month, with sneak-peeks, auto updates, and early access.

Verdict

EzWaypoints is the right choice for Fabric players on Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.8–1.21.11 who want organized, shareable waypoint labels without a minimap or server-side setup. Its local storage, separate profiles, and configurable labels make its narrow purpose useful. Choose another mod if you need mapping or radar, or if your version or loader falls outside its compatibility range.
