Overview

Findmykids is a family safety app that connects a parent’s device to a child’s phone or GPS watch. It is best suited to parents who want location checks, safety alerts and app-use reports together. Its paid tiers add more useful controls, but device and regional restrictions limit Sound Around.

Key features

Location updates arrive every few seconds, with routes, unlimited location history and alerts for places a child visits. That combination helps parents check both current whereabouts and past journeys. The free Básico plan is narrower: it provides current location and one movement notification, while real-time movements and detailed routes are included with Cuidar.

Place notifications support routine check-ins, while a child’s SOS signal gives them a way to alert a parent, even if the parent’s phone is silent. Loud Signal works in the other direction, alerting the child through their smartphone even when it is on silent. These safeguards are most relevant when the child carries a connected phone or GPS watch.

Sound Around lets a parent hear the child’s surroundings, and the child’s device displays a notification when listening is activated. It is unavailable for children using iPhones and when either the parent or child is in Germany or Austria. Families for whom this capability is essential should rule out Findmykids if those restrictions apply.

App-use reports show which apps a child used and how much time they spent in them; parents can also receive overtime notifications. Plus adds app blocking, protection against removal and call filtering, making it the more suitable tier for parents seeking active phone controls rather than reports alone.

Parents can use the service on iPhone or Android, connecting a child’s device through the Pingo app or a GPS watch. A web version supports location tracking, and Findmykids says its app can run autonomously on Apple Watch without a connected phone. The company says it does not store sound, audio, usage statistics, fitness data or activity recognition data on its servers, and that only the connected parent can access that information in the app. It also says it does not use or share account information from children under 13 for marketing or advertising. Support is available through 24/7 live chat and at info@findmykids.org.

Pricing

Findmykids uses a freemium model, with a free trial also offered. The free Básico plan is free and covers current location, one movement notification and three super signals. It is a reasonable starting point for basic checks, but not for real-time movement tracking or detailed routes.

Cuidar costs 3.58 EUR per month, billed 42,99 €. It adds real-time movements, movement notifications, super signals, detailed routes, chat assistance and family access for two more loved ones. This is the practical choice for families who mainly need stronger location coverage and shared access.

Plus costs 6.25 EUR per month, billed 74,99 €. It includes app-use time, app blocking, protection against removal, call filtering, a premium icon and Cuidar benefits, with family access for two more loved ones. Choose it for phone-use controls; Cuidar is the cheaper fit if location features are enough. The stated member limit is three.

Platforms

Findmykids supports Android, iOS and web. Parent use is described for iPhone and Android; the child connects through Pingo or a GPS watch. The web version is for location tracking, while Apple Watch can run the app autonomously without a phone connection.

Who it's for

Findmykids makes the most sense for parents who want frequent location updates, routes, place alerts and SOS alongside screen-time reporting, especially families using GPS watches for younger children. It is less suitable for families that need Sound Around on an iPhone or in Germany or Austria, or for those who only need basic location sharing and do not want a paid tier for richer controls.

Pros and cons

Pro: Frequent updates, unlimited location history and detailed routes give parents more context than a current-location check alone.
Pro: SOS and Loud Signal work in opposite directions, and SOS can reach a parent whose phone is silent.
Pro: Plus combines app-use reporting with blocking, removal protection and call filtering.
Con: Básico limits location to the current position and one movement notification, so families wanting real-time movements and detailed routes need Cuidar.
Con: Sound Around is unavailable for child iPhones and in Germany or Austria, restricting a distinctive monitoring feature for some families.

Alternatives

For a broader comparison, browse Family Locator Apps. Choose Family Locator if its free version’s complete functionality is more important than a tiered feature set; its Lifetime plan is 14.99 USD per once for premium features. iSharing is another freemium option, with one place alert and a seven-day history and driving report after watching an ad on Free.

OtoZen is an Android and iOS alternative with a free plan that includes two days of drive history and two places. CircleUs may suit larger groups: its free plan supports up to five members, three place alerts and two Circles. Be Closer offers real-time location on its free plan, while Premium adds unlimited location history for 3.99 USD per month.

BuddySOS is a simpler option if one group and one safe zone are enough; its free plan includes ads, and Pro removes them for 1.99 USD per month. Bluelane is worth considering for iOS and web users, with a free iOS app and an annual Pro subscription at 47.99 USD per year. Fameelee is another freemium alternative for Android and iOS.

Verdict

Findmykids is a strong choice for parents who want location history, alerts and app-use oversight in one service, particularly when a child uses a GPS watch. The main reason to choose it is the range from frequent location updates to phone-use controls; look elsewhere if Sound Around’s restrictions rule it out or if the free plan’s basic location coverage is all you need.
