Overview

Users can paste Excel data or upload Excel and CSV files, with supported datasets ranging from 10 to 100,000 locations. That makes Mapline applicable to both small sales lists and larger location inventories, but the Mapping Starter limits mean a free account cannot represent the platform’s full scale.

The product suite includes Geo Mapping, Geo BI, Geo Routing and Geo Scheduling. Browser delivery avoids complex installation, while a REST API offers programmatic access with API-key authentication, authorization, documented limits and JSON responses. Together, these options suit teams connecting geographic analysis to operational work; buyers who need only a simple map may not need the wider suite.

Key features

Mapping and analysis

Pin colors, shapes, sizes, icons, labels and custom images can be set from spreadsheet columns. This gives teams a way to distinguish location categories visually without treating every point as the same marker. Filters, segments, heat mapping, trend analysis, distance analysis and coverage-network visualization help users investigate patterns beyond the initial map.

Territories and routes

Users can draw or import territories, including ZIP-code and county boundaries, and balance territory statistics. That is useful for organizations dividing coverage areas or comparing territory workloads. Route optimization, stop assignments, driving directions and bulk driving-distance calculations across thousands of locations extend the platform to field and logistics planning, though the free plan allows only five short routes.

Connections and security

Connectors cover FTP Server, Google Ads, Google Analytics, Google Calendar, Google Sheets, HubSpot, iCalendar, Microsoft Ads, OneDrive, Microsoft SQL Server, Outlook Calendar and Salesforce. This breadth can reduce the need to move data manually between common business systems. Mapline says stored data has multiple layers of encryption at rest and server communications are encrypted in transit; it also says its application is certified at Level 2 under the App Defence Alliance’s Cloud Application Security Assessment framework.

Pricing

Mapline uses a freemium model. Mapping Starter costs 0.00 USD per free, requires no credit card and includes pin plotting, filters, territories, segmenting, heat mapping and pin customization. Its limits are 500 locations total, 250 per dataset, one map, two datasets and five routes of 10 locations each. Those caps make it suitable for trying a small mapping workflow, not for evaluating larger location inventories or regular routing at scale.

Mapline also advertises a 7-day free trial for Geo BI, Geo Routing and Geo Scheduling. Mapline Starter, Mapline, Pro and Enterprise have custom pricing. Eligible paid customers receive chat, phone and email support Monday through Friday, 5:00 AM to 5:00 PM Mountain Time, with an intended initial response within 24–48 business hours. Teams considering paid use should request pricing before committing, since the free tier’s quotas do not indicate the cost of expanding seats or usage.

Platforms

Mapline is available on the web and through an API. Browser access suits teams that want to avoid complex installation, while the API supports integration work. Excel and CSV uploads cover common spreadsheet-based data workflows.

Who it's for

Mapline is a strong fit for sales, operations and planning teams that manage location lists and need to analyze territories, coverage or routes alongside those lists. Its connectors and API also suit organizations bringing mapping into wider data workflows. It is a weaker fit for buyers who need a clearly priced paid plan before assessing long-term cost, or whose location and route volumes exceed the Mapping Starter caps but are not ready to request a quote.

Pros and cons

Pros: Spreadsheet-based mapping supports datasets up to 100,000 locations, giving larger inventories room to fit the workflow.
Pros: Territory tools, analytics and routing combine several location-planning tasks in one suite.
Pros: A no-credit-card free plan and a 7-day trial for three paid products give teams ways to assess selected workflows.
Cons: Mapping Starter is limited to 500 locations total, 250 per dataset, one map, two datasets and five routes of 10 locations each.
Cons: Paid plans use custom pricing, so buyers must request a quote to judge the cost of scaling.

Alternatives

For a different emphasis, consider LocationAPI if a freemium location API is a better fit: its free Developer plan has limited requests, no commercial use and email support. Maptive may suit buyers looking for a one-time, short-term mapping pass; its 45 Day Pass costs 25045.00 USD per once and includes one user, unlimited maps and 100,000 locations per dataset. Maptitude is another paid mapping option, with a 1095.00 USD per once desktop plan described as 10-Year for one user.

Sitewise Analytics is worth considering when curated geospatial variables and preset trade areas are the priority; its Market Grid plan is free and requires a Sitewise account. Locus offers free map browsing and measuring tools, with a free account adding population, density and gender snapshots. Mapbox Studio may suit users seeking free map styling; related API and custom tileset usage may be billed separately.

eSpatial is a paid alternative with a Mapping Pro plan at 499.00 USD per year, a three-user minimum and 100,000 monthly geocodes. MapBusinessOnline is a desktop alternative for macOS and Windows, with Starter limits including one user, 20,000 locations on a map, three territories and routing credits.

Verdict

Choose Mapline if your team needs spreadsheet-driven maps connected to territory analysis and route planning, especially when those tasks should share a platform. The main reason to look elsewhere is cost uncertainty: the free plan is restrictive, and paid pricing is custom, so teams that need a known budget before expanding should compare alternatives first.
