Overview

Mainfolk creates an initial site with AI, then lets staff change page content directly and publish it. The company says updates reach visitors worldwide in under a minute, which is useful when service times, event details, or visitor instructions change at short notice.

Church pages can cover service times, plan-your-visit guidance, sermons and media, events, groups, ministries, and giving. A giving page can point to an existing processor such as Tithe.ly, Pushpay, or PayPal, so a church can keep its current payment relationship instead of replacing it.

Key features

Publishing and discovery

The AI draft reduces the blank-page problem, but staff still control the wording and updates. Sermon publishing, an event calendar, donation links, and custom domains cover the routine jobs a congregation expects from its public site. Mainfolk says every site uses structured data, semantic HTML, and a per-site llms.txt file to help search engines and AI answers understand its pages.

Accessibility, hosting, and data control

Mainfolk says it builds to WCAG 2.1 Level AA, including semantic structure, keyboard operation, editable alt text for AI-generated images, reduced-motion support, and labeled forms. That is a solid foundation, but uploaded documents and third-party embeds can create accessibility problems outside Mainfolk’s rendering engine; churches remain responsible for what they add.

All tiers include hosting, SSL, platform updates, security patching, and global delivery. Mainfolk says it does not sell personal information and uses Stripe, Mailgun, Cloudflare, and its hosting provider to operate the service. Pages, images, submissions, and subscribers can be exported at any time on every plan, and a cancelled site continues on Free. Support ranges from community help to direct assistance from the engineers who built the platform, depending on plan.

Analytics

Pro adds plain-language reporting on visitor activity, referral sources, popular pages, and form messages. That is useful for a church making content decisions; smaller congregations can save the upgrade if they only need publishing.

Pricing

Free — $0.00 USD per month. This includes a yourname.mainfolk.com address, unlimited edits, about 10 AI assists per month, community help, and a footer note. It is a credible way to establish a site, but the Mainfolk address and small AI allowance make it less suitable as a polished long-term public presence.

Launch — $15.00 USD per month, billed monthly or $150 per year with two months free. It adds an own domain, two editors, more AI help, and email support. This is the sensible tier for a small church with a named editor or two and no need for visitor reporting.

Pro — $29.00 USD per month, billed monthly or $290 per year with two months free. It includes Launch features, nine editors, visitor analytics, more AI help, and priority support. Choose it when several staff members share publishing or leadership needs measurable insight into visitors and forms.

Civic — $149.00 USD per month, billed monthly or $1,490 per year with two months free. It adds unlimited staff editors, up to 25 websites, an emergency alert banner, and free site migration. The price is aimed at organizations managing many congregations or sites, not a single small church.

White-Glove Design — $199.00 USD once. Mainfolk’s team designs site pages, words, and photos; the ordinary plan price still applies. It suits a church that wants professional setup without hiring an agency, but it is an onboarding service rather than a replacement for an ongoing subscription.

Platforms

Mainfolk runs on web, Android, and iOS. Hosting and global delivery are included across tiers, so a church does not need to assemble separate hosting and security services.

Who it's for

Mainfolk is best for small churches that want church-specific page types, direct staff editing, and a managed platform. Launch fits a modest team, while Pro fits a larger publishing group that values analytics and faster support. Civic makes sense for a multi-site organization with up to 25 websites. Churches needing extensive custom integrations, or relying heavily on documents and embeds that must remain accessible, should assess those constraints before committing.

Pros and cons

Pros

Church-ready content structure: services, sermons, events, groups, ministries, visitor information, and giving are covered without building those sections from scratch.
Fast staff publishing: click-to-edit updates are intended to go live worldwide in under a minute.
Keep the existing giving processor: links to Tithe.ly, Pushpay, PayPal, or another processor avoid a forced payments migration.
Managed operations and portability: hosting, SSL, patching, exports, and continued Free access after cancellation reduce lock-in concerns.

Cons

Free has visible trade-offs: the Mainfolk subdomain, footer note, community-only help, and roughly 10 AI assists monthly limit its suitability for a finished public site.
Team capacity costs more: Launch allows two editors and Pro nine; unlimited editors require Civic at $149 per month.
Accessibility is not automatic for every addition: uploaded documents and third-party embeds can introduce issues outside Mainfolk’s engine.

Alternatives

For a broader church-focused comparison, see Church Website Builders. Organizations evaluating professional-services options can browse Legal Marketing Software, Law Firm Website Builders, or Dental Website Builders.

ReferDesk is a free referral platform for macOS, web, and Windows, so it is a different choice for referral management rather than a church website. Avago offers freemium web-based AI website generation with device previews, an AI content assistant, stock images, and free logo generation. Law Firm Central provides a free hosted firm profile with a lead form and basic SEO, with a $497-per-month Starter plan. Attorney Share offers a free pay-per-signed-case model with a one-time $49–$299 match fee and unlimited cases. Overture Law has free referral posting and fee-split sharing, with paid attorney membership. Saturney is a paid web platform with a free trial. LegalSpark is a paid web service with a free trial and a $199-per-month Starter plan. Birdeye is a paid, multi-platform product priced according to deployment and number of locations.

Verdict

Choose Mainfolk if you are a church that wants a managed, church-aware website your staff can update quickly while keeping its existing giving processor. Look elsewhere if you need unlimited editors or many sites without Civic’s $149 monthly price, or if your workflow depends on documents and embeds whose accessibility you cannot closely control.
