Overview

Trimble Viewpoint Vista is a construction ERP that brings project finance, workforce, service and equipment workflows together. It suits multi-discipline contractors that need job-cost control alongside operational processes. Its broad construction focus is the reason to consider it; custom pricing makes upfront comparison harder.

Vista combines project budgets, change orders and work-in-progress tracking with billing, payroll, service dispatch and equipment records. That reach makes it a stronger fit for construction businesses coordinating connected operations than for a company seeking only basic accounting.

Key features

Project costs and financial control

Job-cost tools cover budgets, change orders, cost information and work-in-progress tracking. Progress billing, retainage and commitment tracking extend this to project cash flows and obligations, while approval workflows and subcontractor management support oversight across participants. Advanced reporting and analytics let users query project data and create reports. This is useful when financial control must follow changing project conditions; businesses that need only a simple cost ledger may not need the wider system.

Accounting, workforce and operations

Automated invoicing and payment processing are designed to streamline billing and pay cycles. HR and payroll workflows span hiring, onboarding, training and construction payroll requirements, making Vista relevant to contractors managing specialized workforce processes. Service tools cover agreements, dispatching and mobile work orders. Equipment records track location, usage, depreciation and maintenance, which can connect asset oversight to day-to-day service work.

Project and field workflows

Vista includes project scheduling, field reporting, RFI and submittal management, digital takeoff, bid management, labor and material costs, and project financials. Cloud collaboration and IFC support are also included. These capabilities make it more than a back-office finance system, although mobile access is described as viewer-only, a meaningful constraint for teams expecting full mobile editing.

Integrations

Trimble Marketplace connects Vista with Trimble-verified partner solutions, including tools for HR, payments and compliance. That gives buyers a route to extend the platform around related business needs, while the focus on verified partners means integration planning should account for the solutions a contractor specifically relies on.

Pricing

Vista: custom pricing through sales. The plan is offered in cloud-hosted and on-premises deployments. Vista is a paid product, and no free trial terms are provided. Buyers should weigh the deployment choice and broad workflow coverage against the need to obtain a quote before comparing total cost.

A free plan is indicated for the product, but no included scope, seat allowance or usage cap is described. It should not be treated as a defined no-cost edition without confirming its terms with sales.

Platforms

Vista supports Android, iOS, web and Windows, alongside API access and self-hosted deployment. Its deployment model is hybrid, and the Vista plan is offered cloud-hosted or on-premises. Mobile apps are available, but mobile access is viewer-only, so mobile use should not be assumed to provide the same working capabilities as desktop access.

Who it's for

Vista is best suited to multi-discipline contractors that want job costing, project financials, payroll, service management and equipment tracking in one construction-focused ERP. It is particularly relevant where project controls and operational workflows need to sit alongside accounting. A smaller business seeking straightforward bookkeeping, or a team that depends on full mobile editing, should compare narrower or more mobile-oriented options before committing.

Pros and cons

Pros

Construction-specific financial coverage: budgets, change orders, work-in-progress, progress billing, retainage and commitments address more of a project's financial lifecycle than basic bookkeeping.
Operational breadth: payroll, service dispatch and equipment maintenance sit alongside finance, reducing the need to assess these workflows as entirely separate systems.
Flexible deployment: cloud-hosted and on-premises options accommodate different infrastructure preferences.

Cons

Custom pricing: a sales quote is needed, making initial cost comparisons less direct.
Viewer-only mobile access: mobile apps do not imply full mobile editing, which may frustrate field teams needing to update records on the move.
Broad scope: organizations needing only a basic accounting or cost-tracking tool may be taking on more system than their workflows require.

Alternatives

For building inventory and asset simulations, Oxand Simeo has a free Lite plan for up to three buildings, with no simulation; its paid Inventory plan supports unlimited buildings and sites. Choose it when that building-focused inventory scope matters more than Vista's construction ERP workflows.

FMX is a paid option with a free trial and personalized quotes based on users, features or custom workflows. It may suit buyers comparing a trial-based route for facilities workflows rather than Vista's construction accounting and job-cost focus.

UpKeep offers Essential at $24.00 USD per month, billed $24 per user per month, with unlimited work orders and locations, and Premium at $55.00 USD per month, billed $55 per user per month. Its published per-user tiers may be preferable for maintenance teams seeking clear entry pricing, rather than Vista's broader ERP coverage.

CBRE CostLab has a Cost Library plan at $1,195.00 USD per contact and CostLab Basic at $4,995.00 USD per contact, with the latter including two users, 50 buildings and 400+ global cost locations. Choose it when a searchable cost database is the primary need, rather than an ERP for construction operations.

Siemens Origin is another paid option for buyers comparing software across Android, iOS and web.

Aurigo Masterworks is an enterprise capital program management platform for buyers whose priority is capital program management.

Capexplan is a paid option billed per user per year, with annual cost dependent on user count; consider it when that per-user annual model fits your purchasing approach.

Oracle Primavera Cloud has named-user plans priced at $12.00 USD per month for Progress Cloud Service and $55.00 USD per month for Task Management Cloud Service. It may be worth comparing when those project progress or task-management services match the need better than Vista's combined construction ERP.

Verdict

Choose Trimble Viewpoint Vista if your construction business needs job-cost and financial controls connected to payroll, service and equipment workflows, and you can evaluate deployment with sales. Its main advantage is that construction-specific breadth; look elsewhere if a straightforward accounting tool, full mobile editing or an upfront public price is essential.
