Overview

FourKites Connect is a web portal for carriers to set up freight-tracking connections and keep them working. It suits carriers and logistics operators that need to share shipment visibility with FourKites-connected shippers. Its strongest case is breadth: it brings connection setup, tracking-quality monitoring, and troubleshooting together at no charge.

FourKites supports Ocean, FTL, LTL, Parcel, and Air transportation, and says most carriers go live within 48 hours. That target makes the service attractive when onboarding speed matters, though the portal’s value depends on working with shippers in the FourKites network.

Key features

Connections across modes

The portal supports credentials for more than 900 ELD and GPS providers, plus EDI 214/315, APIs, SFTP, flat files, ocean credentials, LTL PRO tracking, parcel API keys, and air IATA credentials. Parcel API-key support includes UPS, FedEx, DHL, and regional providers. This range gives carriers with mixed fleets and freight types several ways to connect; teams whose systems require an unsupported method will need another route.

Users can review connected providers, refresh expired credentials, add connection methods, and see which shipper customers are being tracked. That continuing visibility is useful for carriers managing multiple shipper relationships, not just those completing a one-time setup.

Tracking quality and troubleshooting

Real-time tracking-quality scores and Tracy AI alerts flag when quality falls below thresholds. Built-in diagnostics identify connection problems, data gaps, and integration errors, and users can file and track support cases in the portal. These tools give operations teams a way to spot and pursue tracking issues in the same place they manage connections. Phone and email support are also available through the carrier support team.

Security controls

FourKites describes AES-256 encryption at rest, TLS 1.2+ in transit, role-based access, audit logging, and GDPR-grade privacy practices. It says customer data is logically segregated, network intelligence is aggregated and anonymized, and customer data is neither stored by nor used to train AI model providers. Its Trust Center lists more than 300 audited controls; most compliance reports are accessible through a click-through NDA, while sensitive documents are released within one business day. These measures may help security teams assess a connection, though the access terms for some documents matter in a formal review.

Pricing

FourKites Connect has one plan: Free at no cost. It is free to join and use, with no setup fees and no monthly charges. Carrier onboarding, compliance tracking, performance scorecards, a carrier portal, and API access are included. That combination gives carriers a broad connection and monitoring tool without a recurring software bill; there is no paid tier to unlock the listed capabilities.

Platforms

FourKites Connect is available on the web. The portal’s browser-based access fits teams managing connections from an office or operations desk; mobile apps are not part of the offering.

Who it's for

FourKites positions its carrier network for owner-operators, small and mid-size carriers, large fleets, 3PLs, brokers, freight forwarders, intermodal operators, and NVOCCs. The fit is strongest for organizations that need to connect shipment data to FourKites-tracked shippers across several transport modes. It is less suitable for buyers seeking a full transportation management system, since the product centers on connection management and tracking quality.

Pros and cons

Pros: More than 900 ELD/GPS provider credentials and multiple connection methods support varied carrier setups.
Pros: Quality scores, threshold alerts, diagnostics, and support-case tracking combine monitoring with follow-up.
Pros: The free plan includes API access, compliance tracking, and performance scorecards without setup or monthly fees.
Cons: Its purpose is connecting carriers with FourKites-tracked shippers, so it is not a general-purpose freight operations platform.
Cons: The web-only platform may not suit teams that need a dedicated mobile app.
Cons: Some sensitive security documents require release after request, which can add a step to compliance review.
