Overview

Frankie recommends products in real time, with formats including personalized collections, alternatives, popular products, cross-sells and recently viewed items. Frankie Inline can show related products on collection pages, giving shoppers another route to discovery without first opening a product page. That broader placement is useful for stores trying to make recommendations part of browsing, not just product-detail pages.

Frankie describes customer experiences across web, mobile, email and physical retail. Shopify merchants can install its personalization app through the Shopify App Store; Klaviyo integration supports personalized email recommendations and trending product content. Headless commerce APIs are intended for custom experiences and standard headless applications, including mobile apps.

Key features

Personalization and experimentation

Audience targeting, real-time targeting, predictive personalization and web experimentation sit alongside the recommendation formats. This combination is a better fit for merchants seeking to adapt product discovery to shoppers and experiment with web experiences than for a store that only needs a basic fixed related-products display.

Integrations and custom experiences

The Shopify app offers a direct route for merchants on that platform, while the Klaviyo integration extends recommendations into email. API access is relevant to teams building their own shopping interfaces, but it is reserved for the Unlimited plan. Merchants who need custom headless work should therefore weigh the higher plan threshold against the flexibility the APIs provide.

Pricing

Frankie has free options as well as paid plans, with paid pricing starting at $10/mo. The free Insider plan is for Shopify Staff, Shopify Partners and development stores, so it is not the general free tier for an operating merchant. Professional is billed $0/mo and includes unlimited recommendations, products, orders and traffic, plus Premium Support; it is positioned for growth-focused merchants. For eligible merchants, those unlimited allowances and support make it a substantial starting point without a monthly charge.

Success based pricing costs $10/month + 1.5% of sales originating from Frankie. Contact support after installing Frankie. This gives merchants a low fixed entry price, but the percentage means the bill rises with attributed sales; it is worth comparing that ongoing cost with the fixed-price tiers.

Merchant is $29/mo for stores with sales up to $30k/mo. It includes unlimited real-time recommendations, all integrations, VisualAI™ and realtime analytics, making it the clearest fixed-price choice for merchants in that sales range who want the full integration set. Enterprise is $129/mo for stores with sales of $99-$199k/mo and adds custom AI tuning and one bill for multiple stores. Unlimited is $299/mo for stores with sales over $199k/mo, with API access and geo-location based AI. Those upper plans are aimed at larger operations; API access and multi-store billing are meaningful differentiators, but unnecessary costs for a smaller shop that does not need them.

Frankie determines the plan for the next billing cycle using store revenue from the preceding 30 days, so sales changes can affect which tier applies. The 15-day free trial begins when the merchant goes live, and Frankie also offers a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Platforms

Frankie supports Android, iOS, web and API. Its Shopify app and Klaviyo integration give merchants established routes into store and email experiences; teams using other custom channels can consider its headless APIs where their plan supports them.

Who it's for

Frankie is best suited to ecommerce merchants that want personalized product discovery across browsing and email, particularly Shopify stores or businesses with the resources to use APIs. Revenue-based tiering can make it less predictable than a simple flat subscription, and the sales-attribution fee on the $10/month plan may not suit merchants who prefer to avoid variable charges.

Pros and cons

Pros: Collection-page recommendations, multiple recommendation formats and real-time targeting give shoppers several ways to discover products without relying only on product pages.
Pros: Shopify, Klaviyo and headless API options cover store, email and custom experiences for merchants with different implementation needs.
Pros: Professional includes unlimited recommendations, products, orders and traffic at $0/mo, along with Premium Support.
Cons: The $10/month entry plan also charges 1.5% of sales originating from Frankie, which can make its total cost rise with attributed revenue.
Cons: Plan placement depends on preceding-30-day store revenue, and key capabilities such as API access are reserved for higher tiers.

Alternatives

For a broader comparison, see Website Personalization Software.

Mida is worth considering when a no-time-limit sandbox with 100,000 monthly tested users and 50,000 daily tracked events is a priority.
Personyze may suit a smaller site that can work within its free tier of 5k pageviews, one domain and three active campaigns.
Amazon Personalize is another paid personalization option.
Intempt Marketing is a freemium alternative with a free plan.
AB Tasty is a paid alternative with experimentation plans.
Contentful offers a freemium option and a free plan with 10 users and 100K API calls per month.
GeoTargetingWP is a paid alternative with yearly plans starting at $10.00 per year.
Kameleoon is a paid alternative that offers a 30-day trial with up to three experiments.

Verdict

Choose Frankie if you are an ecommerce merchant who wants recommendations across collection pages, store browsing and email, and can align the plan with your sales volume. Its range of discovery formats and integrations is the strongest reason to choose it; look elsewhere if you need predictable flat pricing without a revenue share or do not need its broader personalization capabilities.
