Overview

frePPLe brings several planning jobs into one system, so demand expectations can inform stock targets, replenishment and production rather than being handled as separate tasks. Production plans account for finite material supply and resource capacity, and planners can adjust jobs in an interactive Gantt chart. Forecasting combines statistical and AI techniques with method selection and team review and editing. Inventory planning calculates safety stocks and reorder quantities, creates replenishment orders, and supports item segmentation and tailored business rules.

That connected scope is a practical fit for teams coordinating demand and operations. It is less compelling for buyers seeking only a narrow scheduling tool or a simple, fully supported service: Community support is DIY, while professional support is associated with Cloud and Enterprise.

Key features

Forecasting: Hierarchical forecasts can be handled at SKU-location granularity. Teams can choose among methods and review and edit forecasts together, which suits collaborative planning across product and site detail.
Production planning: Finite material and capacity constraints make plans account for resource availability, while the interactive Gantt chart gives planners a way to adjust jobs. This is relevant to manufacturers balancing jobs against constrained resources.
Inventory and replenishment: Safety stocks, reorder quantities and replenishment orders connect inventory decisions to planning. Item segmentation and tailored business rules allow differentiated treatment of items.
Integration: REST API, CSV, Excel and direct database access provide several routes for connecting the system to existing workflows. Community also includes two-way Odoo integration.
Scenario planning: Scenario planning is supported, but the Cloud edition is capped at six scenarios; Cloud PLUS limits scenarios by storage, while Enterprise offers unlimited scenarios.

Pricing

Community is a free, open-source edition, but its support is DIY through the user group. It is the sensible starting point for teams able to manage their own deployment and support; academic users can contact the company about a free scheme. The maker also offers a 15-day trial.

Cloud and Cloud PLUS have custom pricing based on active item-location pairs. The displayed calculator describes a size below 20,000 pairs, so buyers should consider their planning footprint when evaluating subscription cost. Cloud includes a maximum of six scenarios. Cloud PLUS is hosted on frePPLe cloud servers with doubled resource allocation, and its scenario count is limited by storage rather than a fixed six-scenario cap.

Enterprise has custom pricing and is installed on customer hardware, with unlimited scenarios. It is the option for organizations whose policies or regulations may rule out cloud hosting, but it requires customer infrastructure. Community and Enterprise provide Ubuntu Linux binaries and Docker images; Enterprise is specifically for on-premise installation.

No seat quota or renewal term is stated for the plans. The key trade-off is therefore less about user count and more about support, hosting, scenario capacity and active item-location scale.

Platforms

frePPLe supports web, API, Linux and self-hosted use. Community is a multilingual browser-based application; Community and Enterprise editions also offer Ubuntu Linux binaries and Docker images. Cloud and Enterprise list professional support, while Community users rely on the user group for DIY help.

Who it's for

frePPLe suits manufacturers and planning teams that need forecasting, inventory, replenishment and production decisions connected, especially where finite materials or resource capacity constrain production. It is also a fit for organizations that need scenario planning or customer-controlled on-premise hosting. Teams wanting professional support should look beyond Community, and Cloud buyers should check whether six scenarios are sufficient.

Pros and cons

Pro: Forecasting, inventory, replenishment and production planning share one scope, helping teams coordinate linked decisions.
Pro: Finite material and capacity constraints, plus job adjustment in a Gantt chart, address practical production-planning needs.
Pro: Multiple integration routes, including two-way Odoo integration in Community, can accommodate different existing workflows.
Pro: Enterprise supports customer-hosted deployment and unlimited scenarios for organizations needing infrastructure control.
Con: Community support is DIY, which may not suit teams that need professional assistance.
Con: Cloud allows at most six scenarios, a potential constraint for teams comparing many planning alternatives.
Con: Subscription pricing is based on active item-location pairs, so the planning footprint matters when assessing cost.

Alternatives

NETVIBES is a paid alternative with a free plan and trial, and lists an Enterprise Data Science plan with 17 portfolio roles; consider it if those portfolio roles matter more to your choice.
Asprova APS is a paid, self-hosted Windows option with a trial; its package price is open, and implementation, training, consultation and integration may add costs. Choose it when that APS package and distributor-quoted purchase route better suit your needs.
Phoenix APS offers a free beta evaluation with a temporary license, but it is not licensed for production use; it suits evaluation rather than live deployment.
PlanetTogether APS supports self-hosted and web deployment, with subscription or perpetual licensing; subscription fees are paid annually in advance and set on the applicable order form.
SkyPlanner APS is a paid option with a trial, web and mobile platforms, and a five-workstation plan; an additional workstation adds one scheduled production resource.
SchedulePro charges 4500.00 USD per year for its Fixed License, billed per copy per year, with unlimited technical support and free upgrades while the license is maintained.
GANTTPLAN APS offers a Starter plan with unlimited users and viewers, an ERP adapter and deadline-based optimization, with no public price stated.
APS4MFG is listed at 25.00 EUR per month and is built by Avalah, which its maker identifies as an Odoo Gold Partner in Estonia.

Verdict

Choose frePPLe if your manufacturing or supply-chain team needs forecasts, stock, replenishment and constrained production planning connected, with a choice of open-source, cloud or customer-hosted deployment. Its strongest reasons to shortlist are its planning breadth and Enterprise control over hosting and scenarios. Look elsewhere if you need professional support on the free edition or more than six Cloud scenarios without moving to Cloud PLUS or Enterprise.
