Overview

SignUpGenius is a group-organizing platform for coordinating shifts, events, forms and collections. It is a strong fit for schools, nonprofits and community groups that want participants to claim a place from a shared link and get follow-up without an account. Its broad organizing toolkit is useful, but groups relying on payments should weigh the transaction fees and U.S.-only eligibility.

Key features

Organizers build sign-ups with a guided wizard, themes, recurring-event options, custom questions and tabbed layouts. Duplicating or transferring an earlier sign-up helps with repeat activities, while volunteer self-signup and shift scheduling cover routine coordination. The shared-link workflow reduces barriers for participants; organizers can trade that convenience for more control by requiring accounts, an access code or an approved email address.

Automatic email and text reminders, scheduled invitations, confirmations, follow-ups and targeted messages reduce manual chasing. Volunteer-hours reports, Excel exports, payment reports and email delivery and click-through metrics give organizers ways to monitor participation and outreach. Zapier can connect sign-up data to other web apps, and participants can sync events to calendars.

Payment pages accept credit cards and digital wallets with a 3.95% plus $0.95 convenience fee, or eChecks at 1.95% with a $1 minimum. Those charges can erode collections, and payment tools are limited to U.S.-based users with U.S. bank accounts. The main service works in a phone browser without an app; a companion payment app supports iOS and Android. The website is hosted in the United States, and users may request access to or deletion of personal information.

Pricing

The Free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and includes unlimited sign-ups, making it a practical starting point for organizers who can work without the paid-plan extras. A 10-day trial is also offered. Silver includes one ad-free sign-up and two custom questions; it suits organizers who need a polished single sign-up with modest customization. Gold adds 10 administrators, while Platinum allows 20, making those tiers more relevant to groups sharing setup duties. Their prices are custom pricing.

Enterprise has custom pricing and adds embedded sign-ups, portal pages, dedicated account management and customized limits, a better fit for organizations that need a more tailored deployment. Paid plans include API access, with plan-level allowances of 500, 2,000 or 5,000 requests per day; Enterprise has a customized allowance. Premium subscribers can also receive priority email and phone support, tutorials and FAQs, while all users receive email support. The free plan's unlimited sign-ups are useful, but its stated plan details do not include the ad-free option, custom questions or expanded administrator counts found in paid tiers.

Platforms

SignUpGenius supports web, Android, iOS and API access. The core service runs in a mobile browser, so participants do not need to install an app to sign up; the companion app is for payments. API access is tied to paid plans rather than being a general free-plan capability.

Who it's for

Schools, nonprofits, businesses, communities and everyday organizers can use SignUpGenius to coordinate volunteers, collect dues or manage event participation. It is especially suited to groups that value reminders, recurring sign-ups and volunteer reporting in one workflow. It is less suitable when payment collection is central but users are outside the U.S., or when transaction fees would be a major concern.

Pros and cons

Pro: Unlimited sign-ups on the free plan give occasional and recurring organizers room to coordinate without a sign-up quota.
Pro: Reminders, volunteer-hours reports and exportable data help organizers reduce follow-up work and account for participation.
Pro: Participants can use a shared link without an account, while access controls remain available for groups that need them.
Con: Card and digital-wallet payments incur a 3.95% plus $0.95 fee, while eChecks cost 1.95% with a $1 minimum.
Con: Payment tools are available only to U.S.-based users with U.S. bank accounts.
Con: The paid plan prices are custom pricing, making the cost of ad-free sign-ups, extra questions or more administrators harder to assess upfront.
