Overview

Granted combines a database of more than 140,000 live grant opportunities with profiles for over 133,000 foundations. Its recommendations connect an organization’s mission to potential funders, while deadline tracking helps keep opportunities in view. For teams facing a wide search, that breadth and matching can make a promising starting list easier to build.

The application workflow begins with an uploaded RFP. Granted analyzes its requirements and drafts the proposal section by section using the applicant’s answers and the funder’s criteria. Users can download the draft as a Word document, but must submit it through the funder’s own channel. That makes Granted a substantial preparation tool, not a submission system.

Key features

Funding discovery and proposal writing

Mission-based recommendations and a large opportunity database give grant seekers two ways to narrow their search. RFP analysis before drafting is a practical strength: it ties the writing process to the funder’s stated requirements instead of producing an untargeted first draft. Basic includes three AI drafts a month, so frequent applicants may find that allowance restrictive.

Proposal review and compliance

Six AI experts review a proposal independently, deliberate, and return a consensus-ranked set of weaknesses with suggested fixes. That gives applicants a structured way to spot issues before submitting, though it remains AI review rather than a guarantee of funder approval. Compliance monitoring checks four IRS data sources: BMF, Pub78, Revocations, and OFAC screening. This can help organizations check relevant records as part of their workflow.

API access and security

The Granted Data API offers REST endpoints, while its MCP server can connect to Claude Desktop, Cursor, and other compatible assistants. Developers can start with the free registered API tier, capped at 10 AI searches and 100 requests per day. Granted says data is encrypted in transit with TLS 1.2+ and at rest with AES-256, kept on US-based servers, and excluded from AI model training. It uses OpenAI’s API for grant-writing coaching under OpenAI’s data processing agreement, and says it responds to security-practice questions within one business day.

Pricing

Granted has free access for API users and paid plans starting at $29 per month. The plans serve different needs: proposal applicants can buy drafting capacity, while developers and data users can pay for API search and query quotas.

Free API — 0.00 USD per month: 100 requests per day, 10 AI discovery searches per day, semantic search, and community support. A sensible starting point for light API use.
Anonymous API — free: 50 requests per day per IP, three AI discovery searches per day, and a shared API key. Its lower caps suit casual evaluation rather than sustained integration work.
Basic — 29.00 USD per month: three AI drafts per month, Grant Writing Coach, full RFP Analysis, and unlimited active grants. It fits occasional applicants who want the guided writing workflow, but the draft quota may constrain teams preparing several proposals.
Professional — 89.00 USD per month: unlimited drafts and early access to new features. It is the clearer fit for regular proposal work, trading a higher monthly price for removal of Basic’s draft cap.
Starter API — 149.00 USD per month: 500 AI discovery searches and 25,000 database queries per month, foundation financials, and priority support. It suits API users who need richer foundation data and larger quotas than the free tier.
Growth API — 499.00 USD per month: 2,000 AI discovery searches and 100,000 database queries per month, key people data, and dedicated support. The higher quotas and added data make it better suited to heavier API use.
Enterprise API — custom pricing: 10,000+ AI searches per month, unlimited database queries, bulk exports, custom datasets, and dedicated support with an SLA. It is intended for organizations needing high-volume access and tailored data.

A free plan and a free trial are available. The API tiers have explicit daily or monthly quotas; Basic’s three-draft limit is the key constraint for applicants choosing the lowest paid writing plan.

Platforms

Granted is available on the web and through an API. The API and MCP connections make it relevant to teams building funding data into their own tools or working with compatible assistants; the web workflow serves applicants researching and preparing proposals directly.

Who it's for

Nonprofits, researchers, and small businesses can use Granted to find opportunities, shape applications around RFP requirements, and review drafts before submission. It is especially well matched to organizations that want both funder discovery and writing support. Teams that require application submission inside their software will need another workflow, since Granted leaves submission to the applicant.

Pros and cons

Pros: A database of 140,000+ live opportunities and 133,000+ foundation profiles supports broad funding discovery.
Pros: RFP analysis and section-by-section drafting ground writing in funder requirements and applicant answers.
Pros: Six-reviewer AI deliberation and checks across four IRS data sources add distinct review and compliance steps.
Pros: REST API and MCP connections support use beyond the web product, with a free registered API tier for initial use.
Cons: Applicants must download Word drafts and submit through each funder’s channel, leaving the final step outside Granted.
Cons: Basic allows only three AI drafts per month, which may not cover active grant writers’ needs.
Cons: The API’s larger search and query quotas require plans priced at $149.00 USD per month or more.

Alternatives

Consider these options if their access model or project limits better match the way you work:

Nonprofit Grant Writing Software is a broader category guide for comparing grant-writing tools.
Mavenly is an API and web option with a free Sandbox plan that includes 500 requests per month and daily data refresh; its paid Starter plan is 49.00 USD per month.
GrantAppli offers a free plan for three grant projects, which may suit applicants who want a defined project allowance.
ProposalMint has a free web plan with EIN-based profile building, opportunity browsing, smart match scoring, SAM.gov readiness assessment, and a foundation explorer.
Grantable offers a free plan with five chat messages a day and file imports up to 10 MB.
Grantboost has a free plan with 10 Writer chats and 10 grant views per month; its Find Grants plan is shown at $32 per month with annual billing.
Grantivo has a free plan with 10 credits, unlimited proposals and drafts, a full funder directory, and requirement tracking.
Grantora offers a free Community plan with up to four grant project outputs per year, one admin user, and one writer user.
WinMyGrant provides a free plan with three proposals per month and a full seven-section proposal.

Verdict

Granted AI is a strong fit for grant seekers who need funding discovery and structured help preparing applications, especially organizations that also value proposal review and compliance checks. Its large funding database and RFP-led workflow are compelling reasons to choose it. Look elsewhere if you need the software to submit applications or if three monthly drafts are too few and Professional’s $89.00 USD per month is beyond budget.
