Overview

Fundy Designer brings album, wall-art, card, and studio-magazine design together with online proofing, IPS sales tools, slideshows, retouching, and print ordering. Its patented Drop Zone technology can build a complete album from a gallery in one click, while customizable layouts and hundreds of templates leave room for a studio’s own approach. That combination is practical for photographers who repeat similar production jobs but still need control over the final design.

Wall-art collections can be previewed in stock rooms or on photographs of a client’s home, giving sales conversations a more concrete visual context. Online proofing supports unlimited uploads, visual feedback, and automated email reminders, reducing the manual chasing that often follows a gallery delivery. Slideshows work online and in person, and the homepage specifies AI beat matching.

Key features

Design and sales workflow

One-click auto-design is the headline time saver, especially for high-volume album work. The suite also covers wall art, cards, and studio magazines, so a studio can keep several product types in the same application. Optional Stripe integration lets clients sign an order agreement and pay through one link. Export to a studio-management XML file supports imports into Tave, Iris Works, Studio Ninja, and Pixify.

Retouching and production

One-click retouching handles skin, eyes, and under-eyes, and can batch thousands of images. That scale is useful for large wedding galleries, although studios wanting highly specialized retouching control may still need another tool. Fundy says it works with more than 170 labs and album companies worldwide; direct and non-direct partners are supported, and orders can be placed through Fundy where direct ordering is available.

Trial and support

The trial has no time limit, but it blocks print, proofer, and PSD exports and removes access to Pro Enhancements. It is therefore suitable for learning the workflow, not for completing a client project without upgrading. Free onboarding, short tutorial videos, manuals, webinars, and support tickets are included. Support hours are Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Pacific time.

Pricing

Fundy Designer is paid software with a stated starting point of $250/yr and a 30-day trial. The annual Album Suite costs 175.00 USD per year, billed $175 /yr; the page also shows $250 and “SAVE 30% FOREVER.” Pro Suite costs 203.00 USD per year, billed $203 /yr; it also shows $290 and “SAVE 30% FOREVER.” Every paid plan includes a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Album Suite is the sensible fit for photographers whose priority is album production and related design work. Pro Suite is aimed at studios that need the broader professional toolkit, including sales and enhancement capabilities. The trial restrictions matter more than the time limit: export-dependent workflows cannot be judged end to end until payment. A license covers up to two computers, which fits a small studio but may constrain larger teams. There is no free plan.

Platforms

Fundy runs as a native desktop application on macOS and Windows. Version 11 requires macOS 10.17 (Big Sur) or newer, or 64-bit Windows 10 or newer, with at least 8 GB of RAM. There is no web or mobile app, so design and proofing work depends on the desktop installation.

Who it's for

Choose Fundy if you are a professional photographer selling albums or wall art and want automated layouts, client proofing, presentation tools, retouching, and lab ordering in one system. Its two-computer license suits a compact studio, while XML exports and Stripe connect it to established business processes. It is less suitable for casual users, mobile-first workflows, or teams that need more than two licensed computers.

Pros and cons

Pros

Fast album production: Drop Zone can auto-design a full album from a gallery in one click, with extensive templates and editable layouts.
Complete sales path: Proofing, slideshows, wall-art previews, agreements, Stripe payments, and print ordering cover more than layout alone.
Broad lab reach: Compatibility with more than 170 labs and album companies supports varied supplier relationships.
High-volume retouching: Batch processing can handle thousands of images for large galleries.

Cons

Restricted trial output: Print, proofer, and PSD exports are disabled, and Pro Enhancements are unavailable until upgrade.
Desktop-only workflow: No web or mobile app means clients and photographers cannot rely on a mobile-native editor.
Two-computer ceiling: The license may be limiting for larger teams or shared workstations.
Annual cost: There is no free plan, so occasional photographers pay for a professional suite they may use infrequently.

Alternatives

For a broader comparison, see Photo Book Software.

AlbumForge is a better starting point for budget-conscious users who want a free tier, offline work, and basic PDF export, with a 40-photo and five-template cap on its DISCOVERED plan.

Saal Digital suits photographers who prefer a freemium cloud service with 10 GB storage and support across web, desktop, and mobile platforms.

Journi is the alternative for users focused on consumer print products such as photo calendars and app-based photo books.

Blurb BookWright fits desktop book design with offline editing, templates, and layout suggestions, but its software price is custom pricing.

ifolor is another paid option spanning desktop, web, and mobile platforms.

Pixum is worth considering for lower-cost, one-off photo books, including a small square booklet priced at 9.95 GBP per once.

AlbumStomp is a narrower paid proofing option, with AlbumPrüfr at 49.00 USD per year for proofing up to 20 albums.

Hofmann is a paid photo-product alternative with apps and web access.

Verdict

Fundy Designer is a strong choice for professional photographers who sell albums and wall art and want one desktop workflow from auto-layout through proofing, presentation, payment, and lab ordering. Its main reason to choose it is the breadth of specialized studio tools, backed by automation and extensive lab compatibility. Look elsewhere if you need a free or mobile-first product, unrestricted trial exports, or licensing for a larger team.
