Overview

Genie AI is a legal platform for business teams that need to draft, review, and negotiate agreements. It is best suited to teams applying consistent playbooks or tracking information across contracts; the free tier gives individuals a way to begin, while higher document-insight limits require a paid plan.

Founded in 2017 and headquartered in London, GenieAI serves in-house legal, procurement, sales, founders, and other business teams. Its combination of contract work and document-level analysis makes it more than a drafting tool, though token and document limits matter as usage grows.

Key features

Contracts can be drafted from a plain-English brief or started from a template. The Free plan includes more than 500 templates, a useful starting point for occasional work, but its AI tokens are limited relative to paid plans.

For review, Genie checks agreements against playbooks, compares clauses, and suggests edits and redlines in tracked changes. That is a strong fit for teams with review standards to apply; the value will be less clear to someone who only needs occasional, basic drafting.

Document insights extract, compare, and monitor data points across documents in a table view. This can help teams examine contract sets, but Pro covers insights from 50 documents and Business from 250, so the larger allowance may be important for regular portfolio analysis.

Supported formats include DOCX, PDF, images, and spreadsheets. The platform also lists an API, MCP connectors, and native integrations with email, CRM, cloud storage, and eSign. Its Microsoft Word add-in works with Word on Windows, Mac, and the web, which suits teams that want contract work within Word. Genie supports 10 languages.

Security and data protection

GenieAI says it is certified to ISO/IEC 27001:2022, encrypts customer data at rest with AES-256 and in transit with TLS 1.2 or higher, and does not use customer content to train AI models. It hosts customer documents in UK and EU AWS data centres and says it complies with UK GDPR, EU GDPR, and the Data Protection Act 2018. It does not hold a SOC 2 report, a point for organizations whose vendor requirements call for one.

Pricing

GenieAI uses a freemium model. The Free plan is free and includes the Full AI Document Toolkit, one user, free-plan AI tokens, and 500+ templates. It is a no-cost way for an individual to try the core toolkit, but it does not state a document-insight allowance.

Pro costs 59.00 USD per year, billed $708/year, billed annually ($59 per month); or $75 per month, cancel any time. It includes one user, insights from 50 documents, 10x Free plan AI tokens, and unlimited document exports. This suits a solo user who needs recurring review and document analysis, though the annual option commits the user for the year.

Business costs 259.00 USD per year, billed $3,108/year, billed annually ($259 per month); or $320 per month, cancel any time. It provides five users, insights from 250 documents, and 5x Pro plan tokens. The additional seats and document allowance make it the more practical fit for a small team, while the annual price is a substantial step up from Pro.

Enterprise has custom pricing, billed annually. It includes unlimited users, insights from unlimited documents, unlimited AI tokens, API and MCP integrations, a dedicated Customer Success manager, onboarding, a bespoke AI training program, ROI reporting, and SLA technical support. It is aimed at organizations needing broad access and support rather than a fixed small-team allowance.

Platforms

Genie AI is available as an extension, a macOS app, on the web, and on Windows. The Word add-in's support for Windows, Mac, and web Word gives teams another route to work in their existing document environment.

Who it's for

Genie AI is a sensible choice for businesses that want drafting and playbook-based review alongside structured analysis of contract data. Pro fits a solo operator, while Business is designed for up to five users; Enterprise is the tier for unlimited users and document insights. A team that requires a SOC 2 report should look elsewhere.

Pros and cons

Pro: Drafting, playbook review, redlines, and document insights sit in one platform, serving teams that handle both individual agreements and contract sets.
Pro: The Free plan includes 500+ templates and one user, allowing an individual to start without a paid subscription.
Pro: Word support, API access, MCP connectors, and native workflow integrations give teams several ways to connect contract work.
Pro: ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification, encryption, UK and EU hosting, and a stated no-training commitment address important data-handling concerns.
Con: Pro and Business cap document insights at 50 and 250 documents respectively, which can constrain analysis of larger contract sets.
Con: The Free plan's AI tokens are limited, while Pro's annual billing totals $708; regular solo users must weigh that commitment against the monthly-cancel option.
Con: GenieAI does not hold a SOC 2 report, which may rule it out for organizations with that vendor requirement.

Verdict

Choose Genie AI if your business needs one workspace for agreement drafting, playbook-led review, and structured contract insights, especially when Word and workflow connections matter. Its free plan makes an individual start accessible, and Business offers a defined five-seat tier. Look elsewhere if your team needs SOC 2, or if the paid plans' document and seat allowances do not match your scale.
