Overview

Nexus brings live system readings, fan and pump control, and programmable lighting into one application rather than splitting those jobs among several utilities. Monitoring covers CPU, GPU, memory, network, disk, fan and temperature data. Windows adds per-game FPS history, making the app more useful for diagnosing gaming performance than a hardware-only monitor.

The application works locally and offline without an account. Anonymous usage telemetry is optional and can be controlled in settings. If you enable profile sync, Nexus stores up to five profiles of 512 KB each; authentication tokens and the specified third-party credentials are excluded. Hello Nexus, the maker identified by its privacy policy, is registered in California.

Key features

Monitoring and cooling

Fan and pump curves can follow any system temperature sensor, so users can tie cooling response to the measurement that matters for their build instead of accepting a fixed preset. Selected devices can instead remain under BIOS or firmware control.

Lighting and hardware coverage

A GPU-rendered lighting engine provides screen sync, audio sync and Game Sync. Nexus supports addressable RGB control, cross-device synchronization, lighting profiles and game lighting effects, making it a practical choice for coordinated desk and component lighting.

Its own device drivers are combined with a bundled OpenRGB build to widen RGB coverage. Integrations include Corsair iCUE, ASUS Aura Sync, MSI Mystic Light, Lian Li L-Connect, FanControl and Elgato Stream Deck. Those integrations are not a guarantee for every product: behavior depends on the exact device model, so component compatibility should determine whether Nexus can replace your existing utilities.

Remote access and security

A phone browser can act as a remote panel. Outside-home access uses an encrypted relay and switches to a direct connection when possible. Nexus says remote sessions are end-to-end encrypted and that the relay forwards data it cannot read. Native iOS and Android companion apps are not yet in the app stores, so browser access is the mobile option.

Pricing

The Free plan is free. It has no ads, paid tiers or subscription, and no account is required. There is no free trial because the product is already free. The absence of recurring cost makes Nexus easy to keep as a permanent utility, while the trade-off is that hardware support—not a paid upgrade—sets the practical ceiling.

Platforms

Nexus runs on 64-bit Windows 10 or 11, Apple Silicon Macs and x86-64 Linux. There are no builds for Windows on ARM, Intel Macs or ARM Linux. The phone remote works through a browser, not an app-store companion. Windows users receive the extra per-game FPS history; other desktop platforms do not have that stated feature.

Who it's for

Nexus is a strong fit for PC builders, gamers and RGB enthusiasts who want monitoring, cooling curves and lighting profiles in one place without an account or subscription. It is particularly compelling when several supported ecosystems need to be coordinated. It is less suitable for owners of unsupported models, users on excluded processor architectures, or anyone requiring a native mobile app.

Pros and cons

Pro: Combines telemetry, cooling control and RGB features in one free application.
Pro: Custom curves can use any system temperature sensor, while BIOS or firmware control remains available.
Pro: Local offline operation and optional telemetry provide a low-account setup.
Pro: Encrypted browser remote access works beyond the home network.
Con: Device-model compatibility can limit integrations and RGB control.
Con: Windows-only FPS history leaves other platforms with a narrower gaming view.
Con: No native iOS or Android app is available yet.
Con: Windows on ARM, Intel Macs and ARM Linux are unsupported.

Alternatives

Choose GKrellM instead if you want a free, GPL-licensed monitor for Linux, macOS or Windows rather than integrated RGB and cooling controls.

Mango Mirror is the better choice for a cross-platform dashboard with two screen licenses on its free plan and optional Pro features, not PC hardware control.

Pick WidgetSpark for Windows desktop, taskbar and SparkBar widgets with a free tier and a paid monthly upgrade.

Monitor Flows suits Windows and API users seeking dashboard widgets, pages and themes rather than cooling or lighting management.

Consider Desktop Widgets for widget-focused dashboards across Linux, macOS and Windows.

Duckboard is an option for macOS or Windows dashboard users who prefer a one-time upgrade for unlimited widgets.

SAWAS Dashboard provides a free, ad-free dashboard across Android, iOS, web and Windows.

Themia is a Windows widget alternative with a one-time Pro upgrade for more screens, widgets and devices.

Verdict

Choose Nexus if you want a free, account-optional hub for system monitoring, custom cooling and synchronized RGB, and your hardware is supported. Look elsewhere when you need native mobile apps, an excluded platform build or guaranteed control of a particular device model.
