Overview

Nimbus RMS brings checkout, inventory, reporting, and store-level controls into one retail system. Checkout works online or offline, with offline sales syncing to the cloud once connectivity returns—a useful safeguard for shops that cannot afford to stop trading during an outage. The product serves apparel and fashion, grocery and convenience, electronics and mobile, wholesale, and multi-location retail.

Payment options include cash, cards, mobile wallets, gift cards, loyalty points, and credit, and a sale can be split across payment types. Retailers can centrally manage pricing, promotions, and permissions across stores. The breadth is valuable for varied retail workflows, though the free version lacks multi-store management and double-entry accounting.

Key features

Inventory and reporting

Stock visibility across locations, low-stock alerts, reorder points, and inventory transfers give retailers tools to coordinate replenishment rather than manage each store in isolation. Real-time sales and margin dashboards provide a current view of performance, while custom reports by store, region, or SKU help focus analysis on a particular part of the business.

Retail workflows and integrations

Apparel businesses can manage sizes and colors as separate inventory units, which makes variant-level stock tracking more precise. Nimbus RMS also syncs inventory, stock, and sales with Shopify in real time, a useful fit for retailers coordinating store and online operations. Its POS supports split tender, covering customers who need to combine payment methods at checkout.

Mobile, hosting, and support

The Android app can be installed from a phone browser and supports offline sales on the phone; web access is also supported. Nimbus RMS is hosted on Microsoft Azure, and its support options include screen-specific help, tickets, a Nimbus Forum, and email support on the free plan. The feature page does not name a specific security certification, so organizations that require one should confirm that point before committing.

Pricing

Nimbus RMS has a free tier, paid plans from $19/mo, and a 14-day trial. The trial offers up to 3 stores, 50 products, 1 user per store, and 1 register per store, with no receipt limit and no credit card required. It is a useful way to assess multi-store workflows, but trial data is held for 20 days after expiry and deleted if the account is not upgraded within that period.

Plan	Price	What it includes	Best fit
Free Version	Free	1 store, 50 products, 1 user, 1 register, 100 sales receipts/month, and email support	A small shop evaluating the core workflow or handling low receipt volume
Single Store	19.00 USD per month	Single store, 10,000 SKUs, 3 users per register, and one register	A single-location retailer that has outgrown the free plan’s 50 products or receipt cap
Chain Stores	29.00 USD per month	Multi store, 20,000 SKUs, 1 register free per store, and 3 users per register	Retailers that need centralized multi-store operations and more SKU capacity

The free plan’s one-user, one-register setup and 100 monthly receipts are substantial constraints for a busy shop, and it excludes multi-store and double-entry accounting features. Single Store raises product capacity to 10,000 SKUs and allows three users per register, but remains limited to one register. Chain Stores is the relevant upgrade for multi-location retail, with one free register per store. Custom pricing applies where a plan price is not published.

Platforms

Nimbus RMS supports web and Android. The phone app’s offline checkout adds flexibility for retailers who need to keep sales moving without an internet connection.

Who it's for

Nimbus RMS suits retailers that want checkout, stock control, and reporting in one system, especially businesses managing multiple locations, apparel variants, or intermittent connectivity. The free version can work for a low-volume single shop within its product and receipt limits. Retailers with higher sales volume should consider Single Store, while chains needing central controls should look at Chain Stores. It is less suitable for a business that needs several registers at one location on the Single Store plan or requires double-entry accounting on the free tier.

Pros and cons

Pros: Offline checkout syncs when the connection returns, reducing disruption during internet outages.
Pros: Location-level stock visibility, transfers, alerts, and custom reports support coordinated retail operations.
Pros: Multiple payment types and split tender accommodate different checkout needs.
Cons: The free tier caps a shop at 50 products, one user, one register, and 100 receipts per month.
Cons: Single Store includes one register, so a one-location retailer needing multiple tills may need another plan or product.
Cons: The free version excludes multi-store management and double-entry accounting.

Alternatives

For a broader comparison, see Retail Management Software. Choose Auromine if a jewellery shop wants a free plan with 1 counter, 30 invoices per month, and 200 items, or a paid plan at 2999.00. Consider GoFrugal Retail for its Android, iOS, web, and Windows support; its Retail ERP starting price is 75. SwilERP may suit retailers seeking a cloud subscription at ₹1,000 per user per month, with a 45-day free trial and no credit card required.

RetailPOS uses pricing customized by business size, outlet count, and modules. Erply is a paid alternative with a Growth Plan at 1000.00 USD per month, including 3 stores and unlimited users. Oracle Retail Xstore Point of Service, Aptos Retail, and Cegid Retail are additional paid options to compare.

Verdict

Nimbus RMS is a sensible choice for retailers that need offline-ready checkout, organized inventory, and central oversight as they add stores. Its strongest case is the combination of location-aware stock tools and multi-store controls, with a free trial that can cover several stores. Look elsewhere if the free tier’s caps are too restrictive, if a single store needs more than one register on the $19 plan, or if the absence of double-entry accounting on the free version is a deal-breaker.
