Overview

GrowSurf is software for running customer referral and affiliate programs, with tools for marketing and product teams to manage links, rewards and integrations. It is strongest for growing companies that want those programs connected to their product and existing systems; businesses in eCommerce, retail or services should look elsewhere.

Referral campaigns use one-time rewards, while affiliate programs can pay recurring commissions. That distinction gives teams two different acquisition models under one roof, but referral-program costs rise with participant counts.

Key features

Links, rewards and fraud controls

GrowSurf generates referral links automatically and supports referral codes and fraud controls. It can automate gift cards, cash payouts and account credits; PayPal payouts are also supported. Automating routine link and reward handling can reduce administrative work, though teams still need to choose incentives and manage their program within the applicable participant cap.

Integrations and developer tools

The integrations directory includes 61 connections, among them Stripe, HubSpot, Salesforce, PayPal, Zapier and webhooks. A REST API, webhooks, JavaScript, iOS and Android SDKs, API libraries, embeddable elements and an MCP server give product teams several routes to connect a program to their systems. This breadth is useful when referrals are part of a product workflow; teams running a simple, isolated campaign may have little need for the added integration surface.

Setup, security and privacy

GrowSurf says teams can launch a referral program within a day and offers a copy-and-paste installation snippet. That can make implementation approachable, though the timeline will depend on the program and its integration needs. The company says it uses firewalls, IP allowlists, HTTPS with HSTS and AES-256 encryption at rest for certain sensitive information. It describes itself as GDPR-compliant and says it processes customer personal data on documented instructions. Daily disaster-recovery backups include managed MongoDB backups retained for seven days and Firebase exports retained for up to 30 days.

Pricing

GrowSurf charges for referral programs by participant tier, and exceeding a tier limit can trigger an automatic prorated upgrade. The product also lists a 500-participant limit, so teams should confirm which limit applies to their intended plan before committing.

Free (affiliate programs): 0.00 USD per month with no monthly subscription, a 3% success fee, up to 1,000,000 participants, five affiliate programs and unlimited referral revenue. This is a substantial no-subscription starting point for affiliate programs, but the success fee makes it different from a zero-cost plan.
Startup (yearly): 125.00 USD per month, billed $1,503.60 yearly, for up to 2,500 participants, two referral programs and two team members; includes a 14-day free trial. It suits a small team able to commit annually, but the two-seat cap may be restrictive.
Startup (monthly): 179.00 USD per month, billed monthly, with the same 2,500-participant, two-program and two-member limits. It avoids annual billing but costs more month to month.
Business (yearly): 314.00 USD per month, billed $3,771.60 yearly, for up to 10,000 participants, five referral programs and five team members, with a 14-day free trial. It fits teams running several programs or approaching Startup’s participant ceiling.
Business (monthly): 449.00 USD per month, billed monthly, with the same 10,000-participant, five-program and five-member limits. It offers the Business allowance without an annual commitment, at a higher monthly price.
Custom referral programs: custom pricing, with 150,000+ participants, expert onboarding, volume discounts and priority support. This is the tier for large programs beyond Business’s stated cap.
Custom affiliate programs: custom pricing, with custom participant allowances, volume discounts, expert onboarding and priority support.

Referral Startup includes email support, Business includes realtime support, and Custom includes priority support. The 14-day trial applies to the yearly Startup and Business plans.

Platforms

GrowSurf lists Android, iOS, web and API support. Those options suit programs that need to connect with mobile products as well as web services.

Who it's for

GrowSurf is aimed at marketing and product teams at B2C, SaaS, fintech and other fast-growing companies. It is a better fit when referrals or affiliate commissions are part of customer acquisition and need product integrations than for eCommerce, retail or service businesses, which GrowSurf identifies as a poor fit.

Pros and cons

Pro: Both one-time referral rewards and recurring affiliate commissions are supported, giving teams two program models to work with.
Pro: Automated links and reward delivery, fraud controls, and 61 integrations can reduce routine program operations and simplify connections to common business tools.
Pro: The affiliate free plan allows up to 1,000,000 participants and unlimited referral revenue, though a 3% success fee applies.
Con: Referral programs have firm participant tiers, and crossing a limit can cause a prorated upgrade rather than simply letting a team remain on its current tier.
Con: Startup includes only two team members, while monthly billing costs more than annual billing on both paid tiers.
Con: GrowSurf says it is not the best fit for eCommerce, retail or service businesses, narrowing its appeal outside product-led and growth-focused teams.

Alternatives

ReferralHero is worth considering for a smaller launch: its free plan covers up to 25 subscribers and includes PRO features, while its PRO plan is 199.00 US. RefRef offers a free cloud plan with unlimited programs and participants, alongside an open-source option, for teams prioritizing those deployment and scale terms. Referral OS may suit teams that want an open-source, self-hosted option, with a free plan capped at 100 tracked referrals. InviteReferrals is a paid alternative with a 99.00 USD per month BASIC plan covering 1,000 new referrers per month, unlimited conversions and invites, three campaigns and one account member.

Fieldified is a freemium alternative spanning scheduling, invoicing, CRM and reporting, rather than a like-for-like referral-program choice. RQ offers a free core referral-management plan for ICAEW member firms. ReferralMD has a free plan for closed-loop referral management with unlimited users and automated workflows. Extole is another option, with a free plan for current customers generating less than $10M in revenue.

Verdict

GrowSurf is a strong choice for product-led marketing teams that want referral and affiliate programs, automated rewards and a broad integration toolkit in one platform. Its main appeal is the combination of program types and developer options; its main drawback is that referral costs and participant limits need close management, especially as a program grows. Choose it when those capabilities fit your acquisition strategy, and look elsewhere if your business is in eCommerce, retail or services or needs simpler, more predictable participant pricing.
