Overview

Siren records clicks, leads, sales, renewals and other events, then uses those events to calculate commissions and rewards. That range makes it applicable to subscription products, course platforms, creator marketplaces, online stores and sales teams, not only conventional affiliate schemes. A partner portal supports participant access, and payout tracking with batch exports lets administrators send payment files through their chosen payment method.

WordPress customers retain affiliate, commission and payout records in their own WordPress database and can export them. That ownership is valuable for operators who do not want these records held elsewhere, but it comes with operational requirements: the plugin needs self-hosted WordPress 6 or newer and PHP 8.1 or newer. MemberPress has no direct integration. Siren also does not provide an affiliate-recruitment marketplace or self-recruited MLM downlines, excluding those business models.

Key features

Tracking and attribution

Five attribution approaches—first-touch, last-touch, top-score, shared engagement pool and performance-weighted pool—let a business decide how credit is divided among partners. This is more suitable for multi-step customer journeys than a tool limited to a single referrer, although choosing and governing a model will require clear internal rules.

Programs, partners and payouts

The platform supports multiple program types and provides a partner portal, automated payout workflows and API access. WordPress integrations cover WooCommerce, Easy Digital Downloads, LifterLMS, LearnDash, Gravity Forms, Ninja Forms and North Commerce. Hosted Cloud connections include Shopify, Stripe, HubSpot, Salesforce and NetSuite, with APIs and webhooks for additional connections. Automated processing and exports reduce administrative work, but Siren coordinates payout batches rather than promising that every payment is sent by Siren itself.

Control and audit

Role-based access, append-only activity logs and audit export support oversight. Single sign-on is included on Siren-hosted editions. These controls matter to teams sharing responsibility for commissions or needing a durable activity trail; WordPress buyers should distinguish the hosted SSO capability from the database ownership of the plugin edition.

Pricing

WordPress plans

Siren Lite is free, with unlimited programs, affiliates and conversions, basic e-commerce integrations, referral links, coupon tracking and CSV payout export. It is the sensible entry point for a small or exploratory program, but it omits the advanced attribution, recurring commissions, program groups and portal capabilities specified for Essentials.

Siren Essentials costs $229 per year per site. It adds unlimited programs, recurring commissions, advanced attribution, program groups, an affiliate portal and store-credit payouts. This is the baseline paid tier for a growing program that needs more than basic tracking. Siren Plus costs $299 per year per site and adds collaborator teams, Stripe Connect payouts, lifetime commissions and priority support, making it a better fit where several operators or direct Stripe payouts are important. Siren Pro costs $499 per year per site and adds partner hierarchies, reporting-line overrides and cascading commissions up to five layers. Choose it only when an organizational payout structure genuinely needs those layers.

Paid WordPress plans include updates and support while the license is active; Plus and Pro receive priority response. A 30-day trial is available, and the product also has a free plan.

Hosted plans

Cloud Essentials is billed annually at $996 per year (shown as $83 per month, with two months free) and allows 5,000 engine activities per month, unlimited programs and collaborators, webhooks and REST API access. Cloud Plus is $1,248 per year (shown as $104 per month, with two months free), raising the allowance to 50,000 activities and adding collaborator groups and Stripe Connect payouts. Cloud Pro is $3,744 per year (shown as $312 per month, with two months free), allowing 500,000 activities and adding hierarchies and five-layer cascading commissions. All three show founding-access waitlist status, so buyers should account for that availability condition. Full-Service uses custom pricing with setup plus a monthly charge and includes unlimited activity, a dedicated instance, white-glove setup, a named account manager, uptime SLA, SSO and role-based access.

Platforms

Siren is offered through a self-hosted WordPress plugin, hosted Cloud and Full-Service editions, web access and an API. Select WordPress when database ownership and native store or course integrations matter; choose hosted infrastructure when activity volume, collaboration or managed operations outweigh that control.

Who it's for

Siren fits WordPress stores, course platforms, creator marketplaces, subscription businesses and sales organizations running structured partner or incentive programs. It is particularly compelling when recurring or lifetime commissions, multiple attribution models, or hierarchical payouts are central. It is a poor match for MemberPress-dependent deployments, MLM downline schemes or businesses seeking a ready-made affiliate marketplace.

Pros and cons

Pros: five attribution models support nuanced customer journeys; WordPress data stays in the customer database; broad event tracking covers renewals and non-affiliate rewards; higher tiers add Stripe Connect, hierarchy rules and audit controls.
Cons: WordPress requires current self-hosted software and PHP 8.1+; MemberPress is unsupported; hosted plans impose monthly activity quotas and waitlist status; the platform does not recruit affiliates or provide MLM downlines.

Alternatives

Browse Affiliate Marketing Software for a wider category comparison. Choose Refersion instead if its Marketplace listing and simpler web/API setup better match a percent-of-sale program. OpenPartner is worth considering when a self-hosted option with a 3% of GMV Revshare plan is preferable. Pick Refport when fixed entry limits such as 100 links, 5,000 monthly clicks and one seat suit your scale. Affilyn is an alternative for a free plan capped at five active partners and one VIP storefront. Rakuten LinkShare is a network-oriented option with free publisher access, subject to possible inactivity fees. UpPromote suits a single-program start with a $3,000 monthly referral-review allowance. LinkTrust offers campaign-focused plans. Awin is the choice for a paid network model with access to more than one million partners.

Verdict

Choose Siren if you need one system for varied partner programs, configurable attribution and commission structures, especially on WordPress where retaining your records matters. Look elsewhere if you require MemberPress, MLM downlines, an affiliate-recruitment marketplace or hosted capacity without an activity quota or waitlist.
